Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the number of peanut and corn population tothe growth and yield in intercropping pattern system. The research was conducted at LambarVillage Tigapanah District Karo Regency, North Sumatera with the height of ±1200metres abovesea level, began from November 2013 until May 2014. The research was arranged with arandomized block design with two factors. The first factor was peanut population (20x20 cm, 30x20cm, 40x20 cm, 50x20 cm) and the second was corn population (60x20 cm, 70x20 cm, 80x20 cm).The parameters observed were peanut height, number of peanut leaf, corn height, number of cornleaf, number of pod per sample, peanut production per plot, weight of 100 peanut grain, peanut leafarea index, wet weight of corn cob, dry weight of corn cob, and corn production per plot. Theresults showed that corn height, number of corn leaf, peanut production per plot, weight of 100peanut grain, wet weight of corn cob, and peanut leaf area index were significantly affected bypopulation of peanut. Population of corn significantly affected the wet weight of corn cob, dryweight of corn cob, and corn production per plot. Analysis of data showed that the interaction ofpeanut and corn population were founded and significantly affected the corn height, number of cornleaf, and weight of 100 peanut grain.Keywords : peanut, corn, population.

Abstract

The climate factor is very influential to the growth and productivity of palm oil. Rainfall is animportant climatic element observed. Where the palm oil is a plant that requires large amounts ofwater than other crops. Purpose of this research was to determine the effect of rainfall and rain dayas well as the correlation of both on palm oil production in plants aged 12, 15 and 18 years. Thisresearch was held at PTPN II Unit Sawit Seberang–Babalan Sub-district Sawit Seberang DistrictLangkat Province of North Sumatera from March 2014 to September 2014. This research usedprimary data available in company administration. Primary data for the purposes of data analysisincludes the production of fresh fruit bunches (FFB); componen production data as total bunches,average bunches weight, and total of productive trees; rainfall data and rain day monthly in 2011,2012, and 2013 on 9 afdeling. Analysis method used are double linier regression and correlationanalysis. Model tested by classic asumption consists of normality test, heteroskedasticity test,multicollinearity, and autocorellations test by using statistic software SPSS.v.18 for windows. Theregression analysis shows that rain fall and rain day variables haven’t significant influence with alpha 5% (Sig < α 0.05) to increase the production of FFB at the age of 12, 15, and 18 years. This isbecause the rainfall is not evenly distributed throughout the year and less than optimal for thegrowth and production of FFB. From the results of the classical assumption test conducted todetermine whether the multiple regression equation feasible or not to use the regression equation toconclude that the oil palms aged 12, 15, and 18 years are qualified. Correlation results in plants was12, 15, and 18 years with two-way analysis test at 1% level showed variable rainfall and rainy dayshave a strong relationship, and the real (positive) direction. Correlation values of rainfall and rainydays are 0.895; 0.887; and 0.911 each with significant level < α 0.01. Keywords: rainfall, rain day, FFB production.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the composition of Sinabung volcanic ashand cow manure in the planting medium on the growth and production of Deli tobacco. Theresearch was conducted at Balai Penelitian Tembakau Deli (BPTD) Sampali, Percut Sei TuanDistrict Deli Serdang Regency North Sumatera with the height of + 15 metres above sea level,began from June until July 2014. The research was arranged with a non-factorial randomized blockdesign which is consisting of 6 treatmentsratio of top soil : volcanic ash : cow manure that is 15kg:0kg: 0kg (P0), 12kg: 2.5kg: 0.5 kg (P1), 12kg: 2kg: 1 kg (P2), 12kg: 1.5kg: 1.5 kg (P3), 12kg: 1 kg:2 kg (P4), 12kg: 0.5kg: 2.5 kg (P5). The result showed that the composition of volcanic ash and cowmanurein the planting medium significantly affected the plant height, number of leaf, stemdiameter, sand leaf length (Z), first feet leaf length (VA), sand leaf width (Z), first feet leaf width(VA), sand leaf area (Z) and first feet leaf area (VA) at 18 days after transplanting up to 50 daysafter transplanting. The composition of Sinabung volcanic ash and cow manure in the plantingmedium unsignificantly affected the sand leaf thickness (Z) and first feet leaf thickness (VA).Keywords: volcanic ash, cow manure, Deli tobacco.

Abstract

Paraquat is a herbicide commonly used for weed control in corn fields at Tigabinanga Subdistrict(TS), Karo District North Sumatera.The aim of this research was to identify paraquat resistant weedspecies (Echinochloa colonum and Eleusine indica) in corn fields at TS. This research consist of 3steps: seed collection, screening of paraquat resistant weed biotypes, and dose response test. Seed ofputative paraquat resistant biotypes were randomly collected from 28 corn fields in TS. Atscreening test, paraquat at the rate of 150 g a.i./ha was evaluated against weed populations to findresistant and susceptible biotypes. The experiment was performed in a randomized block designwith three replications. Dose response test was arranged in a randomized block design and fourreplications with eight levels of paraquat dose (0, 25, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 g a.i./ha). Theresults showed that none of E. colonum TS population was resistant to paraquat whereas E. indicaTS populations were 2 population resistant, 4 population moderate resistant, and 21 populationsusceptible to paraquat. Resistant index of Benjire Village (ETB-14) and Perlamben Village (ETB-19) biotype were >5 and >9 times of susceptible population.Key words: paraquat-resistant, E. colonum, E. indica

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh ZPT GA3 dan pemberian pupuk fosfor terhadap pembungaan dan hasil biji bawang merah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Hatoguan, Kecamatan Palipi, Kabupaten Samosir, Provinsi Sumatera Utara dengan ketinggian tempat + 930 meter dpl yang dimulai bulan Februari sampai Juli 2014 dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial dengan 2 faktor perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, yaitu konsentrasi GA3 (0, 25 ppm, 50 ppm, 75 ppm dan 100 ppm) dan dosis pupuk SP 36 (0; 10 g/plot; 20 g/plot dan 30 g/plot Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwaterdapat interaksi antara konsentrasi GA3 dan dosis pupuk SP 36 yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap persentase tanaman berbunga per plot dan jumlah umbel per sampel dengan kombinasi perlakuan terbaik pada G3P2 (75 ppm GA3 dan 280 kg/ha SP 36) yang menghasilkan persentase tanaman berbunga per plot tertinggi (24%) dan jumlah umbel per sampel terbanyak (1,27 umbel). Sedangkan perlakuan GA3 dan pupuk SP 36 tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter lainnya.Kata kunci :GA3, pupuk SP 36, bawang merah.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan vetiver yang cepat diperlukan di lapangan agar fungsi vetiver sebagai tanaman konservasi dapat diperoleh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh media tanam dan panjang bahan tanaman (slip) terhadap pertumbuhan bibit tanaman vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides (L.) Nash). Pengujian dilaksanakan dengan rancangan acak kelompok faktorial yang terdiri dari dua faktor yaitu media tanam (topsoil; topsoil+pasir; topsoil+cocopeat; topsoil+ sebuk gergaji) dan panjang anakan (10, 20, 30 cm). Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, panjang akar, bobot basah tajuk, bobot basah akar, dan bobot kering akar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan media tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, bobot basah tajuk dan bobot kering akar. Tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, bobot basah tajuk dan bobot kering akar tertinggi dijumpai pada media tanam topsoil (kontrol) diikuti oleh topsoil + pasir, topsoil + cocopeat, dan topsoil + serbuk gergaji. Panjang slip bahan tanaman yang menghasilkan pertumbuhan vetiver (tinggi, dan bobot basah tajuk) terdapat pada panjang slip 30 cm diikuti oleh panjang slip 20 cm, dan 10 cm. Interaksi antara media tanam dan panjang slip bahan tanaman berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap semua parameter pengamatan.Kata kunci : vetiver, media tanam, slip

Abstract

The aim of research was to known the effect by application Sinabung volcanic ash and chicken manure. The research was done at Tanjung Sari Medan district (±25 meters from sea) form October 2014 until January 2015. It was used Randomized Block Design with two factorials Sinabung volcanic ash (0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 g / plot) and chicken manure (0, 500, 1000 g / plot) with three replicate. The result showed with application Sinabung volcanic ash was significant effect to steam diameters three week after planted, the numbers of pods seeds, the number of seed per plant, the seed weight per plant, yield of plant, the seed weight in one hundred. The chicken was significant effect to steam diameters three week after planted, the numbers of pods seeds, the number of seed per plant, the seed weight per plant, yield of plant, the seed weight in one hundred. The interaction with Sinabung volcanic ash and chicken manure was significant effect to steam diameters three week after planted, the numbers of pods seeds, the number of seed per plant, the seed weight per plant, yield of plant, the seed weight in one hundred.Keyword: Sinabung volcanic ash, chicken manure, soybean.

Abstract

Use proper planting media can support the development of cocoa seeds. But its use should be based on the nature of the medium is able to absorb and hold water in relatively long. Hence required combination some composition media cropping and frequency watering to gain the mass seeds cocoa. This study was conducted in the greenhouse the Faculty Agricultural University of North Sumatra, located at an elevation of above sea level 25 from January 2015 until April 2015, using a random factorial group with two factors the Media Treatment Composition Planted with Topsoil treatment, Topsoil + Compost TKKS (1:2), Topsoil + Manure a Chicken (1:2)Topsoil + Sphagnum (1:2) and Frequency of treatment of Sprinkling with 100%KL/ml/one day, 100%KL/ml/two days, 100%/KL/ml/three days. Parameter examined is tall plant, diameter of the stem, broad leaves, wet weight header, wet roots, dry weight header, and weights dried root. The research results show that composition media planting had have real impact on parameter tall plant, diameter of the stem, wet weight roots and weight dried root. Treatment of frequency watering affect significant a tall parameters,diameter of stem, wet weight roots, and weight dried roort  observation.Interaction some composition media cropping and frequency watering do not affect significant a tall parameters observation.         Keywords: cocoa, planting media, watering frequency

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh debu vulkanik gunung Sinabung dan pupuk kompos jerami padi terhadap pertumbuhan tembakau Deli. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Balai Penelitian Tembakau Deli (BPTD) Sampali, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Provinsi Sumatera Utara pada ketinggian tempat + 15 meter diatas permukaan laut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai dengan Juli 2015. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok  Non Faktorial yang terdiri dari 6 perlakuan top soil: debu vulkanik : kompos jerami padi yaitu: M0 (15 kg: 0 kg: 0 kg), M1 (13 kg: 2 kg: 0 kg), M2 (13 kg: 1.5 kg: 0.5 kg), M3 (13 kg: 1 kg: 1 kg), M4 (13 kg: 0.5 kg: 1.5 kg), M5 (13 kg: 0 kg: 2 kg). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbandingan debu vulkanik dengan pupuk kompos jerami padi berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang pada 18 hari setelah pindah tanam (HSPT) – 46 HSPT dan jumlah daun per tanaman pada umur  46 hari setelah pindah tanam (HSPT). Perbandingan debu vulkanik dan kompos jerami padi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, panjang daun pasir (Z), panjang daun kaki I (VA), lebar daun pasir (Z), lebar daun kaki I (VA), berat segar daun pasir (Z) dan berat segar daun kaki I (VA).

Abstract

Rendahnya produksi paria diakibatkan oleh berkurangnya lahan subur yang disebabkan penggunaan pupuk anorganik secara terus menerus. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan usaha perbaikan dengan cara penggunaan pupuk organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman paria terhadap berbagai komposisi media tanam dan pemberian pupuk organik cair . Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan penelitian Fakultas Pertanian USU (± 25 m dpl) pada bulan April hingga Juli 2016 menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama komposisi media tanam dengan tiga komposisi media tanam yaitu: ultisol : pukan sapi : sekam 2 : 1 : 1 (M1), ultisol : pukan ayam : sekam 2 : 1 : 1 (M2), ultisol : kompos : sekam 2 : 1 : 1 (M3) serta faktor kedua pemberian pupuk organik cair dengan empat taraf perlakuan yaitu: 0ml/l air (P0), 2ml/l air (P1), 4ml/l air (P2) dan 6ml/l air (P3). Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang primer, umur berbunga, jumlah buah, panjang buah, diameter buah, bobot buah segar per tanaman, bobot kering tajuk, bobot kering akar, dan persentase buah normal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan komposisi media tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang primer, umur berbunga, jumlah buah, bobot buah segar per tanaman, bobot kering tajuk dan bobot kering akar. Dimana komposisi media tanam yang terbaik ialah pada ultisol : pukan ayam : sekam 2 : 1: 1 (M2). Perlakuan pemberian pupuk organik cair dan interkasi keduanya berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap semua parameter.Kata kunci : komposisi media tanam, paria, pupuk organik cair
