Abstract

ABSTRAK Kelurahan Limau Manih Kota Padang merupakan kawasan pertanian yang cukup luas, dimana umumnya petani menanam padi, jagung dan sayur – sayuran. Salah satu sayuran yang dibudidayakan adalah cabai merah. Permintaan terhadap cabai merah terus meningkat dan harganya berfluktuasi. Flukasi harga yang tinggi menimbulkan masalah bagi masyarakat, apalagi cabai merah sangat dibutuhkan. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan penanaman cabai merah dalam pot di sekitar pekarangan rumah. Tujuan dari KKN-PPM adalah untuk mendorong empati mahasiswa dan dapat memberikan sumbangsih bagi penyelesaian persoalan yang ada di masyarakat dengan mengaplikasikan hasil-hasil penelitian untuk meningkatkan hasil cabai merah dalam pot. Metode yang diterapkan melalui pendekatan terhadap masyarakat petani dan pemuka masyarakat dengan menumbuhkembangkan dan memotivasi kelompok tani sehingga program KKN–PPM ini dapat diterima dengan baik oleh masyarakat. Kegiatan yang dilakukan berupa : 1) penyuluhan, 2) pelatihan dan 3) demontrasi/ percontohan. Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan program KKN-PPM ini adalah : 1) Meningkatnya kepedulian dan empati mahasiswa terhadap permasalahan ekonomi dan sosial sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan warga masyarakat; 2). Adanya respon positif yang diberikan warga masyarakat berupa partisipasi aktif dan antusias mengikuti kegiatan budidaya cabai merah dalam pot dari awal sampai akhir pelaksanaan. Kata kunci : Cabai merah, Pemberdayaan, Demonstrasi, Masyarakat, Pot ABSTRACT Limau Manih village is a large agricultural area, so farmers generally grow rice, maize and vegetables. One such vegetable is a red chili which is a daily necessity. The demand for red peppers continues to increase and their prices fluctuate. High price fluctuations cause problems for the community, especially chilli is needed. Therefore it is necessary to plant red pepper in pots around the yard of the house. The purpose of KKN-PPM is to encourage empathy students and can contribute to solving problems that exist in the community by applying the results of research to improve the results of red pepper in pots. Method applied by approach to farmer community and community leaders by cultivating and motivating farmer group so that KKN - PPM program can be accepted well by society. The activities are: 1) counseling, 2) training and 3) demonstration / demonstration. The results of this KKN-PPM program are: 1) Increased awareness and empathy of students on economic and social issues so as to increase the income of the community; 2). Positive response given by the community in the form of active and enthusiastic participation following the activity of red chili cultivation in pot from beginning to end of implementation . Abstract

Pengabdian Masyarakat telah dilaksanakan di Air Dingin Kecamatan Koto Tangah Kota Padang. Judul dari kegiatan IbM ini adalah IbM Upaya Peningkatan Produksi Ubi Kayu Organik di Kecamatan Koto Tangah Kota Padang Hasil observasi dari lokasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa disana cocok untuk diperkenalkan budidaya ubi kayu organik dengan menggunakan pupuk kompos yang menggunakan bioaktivator Trichoderma harzianum dan EM-4. Petani menggunakan pupuk kandang sapi atau pupuk kandang kambing dan ayam untuk pupuk ubi kayu mereka. Meskipun ada yang membuat kompos sendiri tetapi masih dilakukan secara konvensional. Pada kegiatan IbM ini diperkenalkan cara pembuatan kompos menggunakan bioaktivator dengan bahan bakunya bisa diperoleh dari lingkungan petani sendiri. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan masyarakat khususnya petani menjadi tertarik. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini ditemui beberapa kendala yang menghambat digalakkannya pembuatan kompos ini, diantaranya saat pelatihan di lokasi ini sulit mendapatkan jerami padi. Juga adanya keengganan petani dalam mengumpulkan bahan baku atau sampah yang berasal dari lingkungan atau kebun sendiri. Faktor pendukung adalah kelompok tani tertarik untuk membuat bersama-sama dan pemberian kompos budidaya ubi kayu sangat cocok karena tanah telah jenuh dengan pupuk anorganik dan menjadi padat.

Abstract

Our previous research had screened 9 best indigenous endophytic isolates for their ability to control Ralstonia syzigii subsp. indonesiensis, the causal agents of bacterial wilt disease in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) in green house condition. Those 9 strains were Bacillus cereus EPL1.1.3, B. cereus TLE2.3, B. toyonensis EPL1.1.4, Serratia nematodiphila TLE1.1, B. anthracis SNE2.2, B. cereus E1.AB1.2, B. cereus E1AB2.1, Enterobacter cloacae subsp. dissolvens TLE2.2 and S. marcescens KLE3.3. The purposed of this study is to test the ability of the endophytic bacteria strains in increasing defense related enzyme activities of tomato. Bacterial strains were tested for its ability to induce the defense-related enzymes which were phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), peroxidase (PO) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) in roots and leaves of tomato plants. R. syzigii subsp. indonesiensis inoculated to host plants 7 days after the endophyte bacteria strains inoculation. Enzyme activities were recorded at 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 and 15 days after pathogen inoculation (dpi).  It was observed that PAL, PO and PPO activities were significantly increased in all of the endophytic bacteria inoculated treatments compared to control plant. Activities of PAL in the leaves was fast similar to the roots; but PO activities was higher in the roots compared to that in the leaves, whereas PPO activities was higher in the leaves than in the roots. PAL and PO reached the maximum level at different time in the leaves (3 dpi and 15 dpi), in the roots (5 dpi and 12 dpi), whereas PPO in the leaves at 12 dpi and in the roots at 9 dpi.

Abstract

Batu Busuk has an excellent opportunity to become one of the tourist areas in the eastern region of Padang City. As a tourist area, the aspects of comfort and cleanliness in the area and surroundings are essential to provide a memorable travel experience, including the residential areas nearby. Lack of public awareness of waste management and waste treatment and no application of the 3R principles of reduce, reuse and recycle are the problems encountered in Batu Busuk. The community service implementation team carried out a series of activities from 2021-2022 to support sustainable tourism development. This activity aims to increase community understanding of waste and the importance of waste management and introduce and enhance the formation of a waste bank in Batu Busuk. The activities included counselling on waste management, comparative studies and field visits to Farmers Women Group Tunas Harapan and Panca Daya waste bank, which have implemented the treatment of organic and non-organic waste into various economically valuable products. It can be concluded that waste management in Batu Busuk is needed to support sustainable tourism. A Batu Busuk Waste Bank unit is required to effectively solve the waste management problem and reduce waste generation in Batu Busuk and its tourism area. Training on the method to treat both organic waste into plant nutrients and non-organic waste into various crafts must be conducted. The products have economic value and are an effective solution for reducing the volume of waste.
