Abstract

This Community Service is carried out from August to September 2021 in the Horse breeding area in Payakumbuh City in the form of counseling and examination of horse feces in the laboratory with the aim of this program being to provide knowledge to horse owners and stool examination in the laboratory to find out gastrointestinal parasites. This program was carried out by visiting the location of the horse stables and taking the feces of 50 horses. From the results of laboratory examinations, horses infected with gastrointestinal parasites were 82% (41/50), the prevalence was higher in mares 70% and stallions 12%. Although clinically the horse showed healthy symptoms but still had gastrointestinal parasites. It is hoped that from this activity horse breeders can improve management of maintenance, feed and also the health of horse livestock.

Abstract

The Kemuning Women Farmers Group (KWT) is a fairly active farmer group in Jorong Ampang, Nagari Piobang, Payakumbuh District, Fifty City District, West Sumatra. KWT Kemuning has group activities in agriculture and animal husbandry. In the field of animal husbandry, he is active in raising cattle which are raised in colonies. The problem found in rearing is the poor growth of the cows. This is seen from the performance of thin cows. The service activities carried out were counseling on cattle rearing patterns, cattle health checks, making complete feed fermentation based on corn plant waste and administering worm medicine. The method of service carried out is in the form of lectures, discussions and direct practice. The results obtained were complete feed fermentation based on corn plant waste liked by cows and there were indications that the cows in the group were infected with worms after a cow health examination.
