Abstract

Research on metal adsorption isotherms with activated carbon oil palm empty fruit bunches in liquid waste. Oil palm empty fruit bunches are used as adsorbent for metal absorption. Oil palm empty fruit bunches are prepared at 105O C for 24 hours to get a constant weight then are characterized by SEM. Oil palm empty fruit bunches are heated at temperatures (400O C – 700O C) to get activated carbon. Re-characterization using SEM at optimum conditions shows that the pore surface is expanding. Then with a batch method for metal absorption (Cu, Pb, Hg) and analyzed using AAS. The most common absorption of activated carbon of oil palm empty fruit bunches is Cu (II). Based on the Langmuir and Freundlich R2 models close to 1, which means that multi-layer adsorption occurs.

Abstract

Development of the industry, especially the palm oil mill industry, it will have an impact with tangible evidence that makes the environment polluted. Heavy metals will be produced from the palm oil mill industry and will pollute the environment. Zn metal is one of the heavy metal waste produced from the mustard coconut factory industry. Zn heavy metal waste will be very dangerous if it exceeds a predetermined level and will have an impact on humans, animals and the environment. One effort to reduce heavy metals using the adsorption method. Adsorption has advantages over a variety of other methods. Adsorban that is used from materials found in nature and the resulting waste can be used as an adsorbent. The type and type of adsorbent greatly affect the pH adsorption level of the Zn metal solution.

Abstract

Adsorbent is an adsorption that is used to absorb various pollutants. Adsorbents can be used from natural materials. Natural ingredients that can be used are oil palm empty bunches. Oil palm empty bunches are a carbon-rich material that is getting new research interest in adsorption because of its abundance and properties. Oil palm empty bunches contain carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur, lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose. Oil palm empty bunches are used as adsorbent for water saturation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a significant difference in student learning outcomes and student learning motivation who are taught using the PBL model assisted by the Ispring media with the conventional learning model assisted by the iSpring media on the rate material at PAB 8 Saentis Private High School. The research population was all students of class XI SMA Private PAB 8 Saentis. The sample consisted of class XI students of SMA Swasta PAB 8 Saentis, which consisted of 2 classes, namely the experimental class (XI IPA 2) with the PBL model and the control class (XI IPA 3) with the conventional model. The instruments used are test and non-test instruments. The student learning outcomes data were first tested for normality and homogeneity, where the results obtained by the two samples were normally distributed and homogeneous. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the independent sample t-test, the results of this study showed that in hypothesis 1, a sig value of 0.001 was produced at a significance level of 5% (α= 0.05). if the value of sig < then Ho is rejected. Thus , it shows that there are differences in student learning outcomes who are taught using the PBL model assisted by the Ispring media with the conventional learning model assisted by the iSpring media . while hypothesis 2 obtained a sig value of 0.04 indicating differences in student learning motivation and hypothesis 3 obtained a sig value of 0.035 indicating a correlation between motivation and student learning outcomes who were taught using the PBL model assisted by the Ispring media with the conventional learning model assisted by the iSpring media.

Abstract

Technological developments change the researchers and educators thinking towards online learning. Various innovations were carried out to support effective online learning which suitable with the student competencies. As there is urgency for carrying practicum activities to achieved Course Learning Achievement (Capaian Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah (CPMK)) for the basic chemistry subject, there is need to make some innovation, which is by making practicum video. It could stimulate students critical thinking because it was presented with visual representations. It could overcome the limitations of space and time and could be used repeatedly. The research type was Research and Development with the Borg and Gall development model. The final product will be disseminated through YouTube platform which is integrated with sipda.unimed.ac.id. Validation results in media design and material aspect showed that the product was declared very valid with an average value of 86.87 percent and 97.92 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the responses from 30 students showed that the product was very practical with an average score of more than 90 percent and was suitable with learning objectives of the basic chemistry course especially the periodic system of elements.

Abstract

Abstract

Lorong Ujung Tanjung Dua, Lingk 15, Bagan Deli Village, Belawan, North Sumatra became the location of this community research and service with Mr. Deddy Suryono as the owner of the business as the partner. His business activity is processing seafood shell waste into animal feed products. This business partner had problems whereas manual drying prolong the time due to the natural causes. Furthermore, the market of the product was in lower level due to the absence of explanation of the content of the product and also the brand name. One of the solution to propose is a high quality functional drying oven with eligible size and fixed temperature. Secondly, to increase the marketing of the product it need to be standardize by laboratory and make the brand name. The results, Rotary Dryer Modification Technology was used as the dryer which increased the product 4 times in quantity. The product was analysed in laboratory with three type of products whereas Shrimp Skin, Crab Skin and Fish Skin. The lab result showed that fish skin has the highest protein more than 50%. The brand name then named as EBYPRO.
