Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kecakapan komunikasi berbahasa Inggris para pendidik melalui pelatihan tes berbahasa Inggris TOEIC sebagai upaya pengembangan kompetensi dan profesionalitas guru. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan berupa penyampaian materi, diskusi dan simulasi tes TOEIC meliputi kemampuan menyimak dan membaca. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 20 guru SMA Harapan 3, Deli Serdang. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan kompetensi guru terhadap tes TOEIC. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari angket dan nilai tes TOEIC guru setelah diajarkan dan dilatih dalam kegiatan. Hasil angket menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan guru terhadap tes TOEIC dengan persentase memperoleh 95%. Dan peningkatan kompetensi berbahasa Inggris guru dari hasil nilai simulasi tes TOEIC, setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menyimak guru memperoleh skor 395 dengan 72 soal jawaban benar dan kemampuan membaca memperoleh skor 390 dengan 80 soal jawaban benar.Abstract:  The aim of community service is to improve communication skills of English educators through TOEIC English test as an effort to develop the competence and professionalism of teachers.   The implementation method of this activity is carried out by providing a training in the form of material teaching, discussion and TOEIC simulation test including listening and reading skills. This activity was attended by 20 teachers of Harapan 3 High School, Deli Serdang. The results of the activity showed that there was an improvement in the competence and skill of teachers to the TOEIC test. This can be seen from the questionnaires and TOEIC test scores of teachers after being taught and trained in the activity. The results of the questionnaire showed an improvement in teachers’ knowledge and competence to the TOEIC test with a percentage average of 95%. And the results of the TOEIC simulation test, after held the activity showed the teachers’ listening skills got 395 score with a total of 72 correct answers and listening skills got 390 with a total of 80 correct answers.

Abstract

Penyebaran pandemi virus corona atau Covid-19 merupakan tantangan bagi Indonesia, karena sampai saat ini Indonesia masih berjuang untuk memulihkan keadaan dengan melawan pandemi covid 19, khususnya bagi pendidikan yang tidak berjalan sebagaimana mestinya. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini pengabdi memberikan literasi atau pemahaman dalam bentuk penyuluhan yang berkaitan dengan aturan atau dasar hukum penyelenggaraan pembelajaran ta. 2020/2021 di masa pandemi covid-19. Dimana metode yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah dan diskusi secara tatap muka langsung, yang dilakukan bersama dengan Guru SMA Harapan 3 Deli Serdang, sebanyak 10 orang. Pemerintah mengeluarkan Surat Edaran Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Nomor 4 Tahun 2020 Tentang Pelaksanaan Kebijakan Pendidikan Dalam Masa Darurat Penyebaran Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) sebagai dasar hukum pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring atau jarak jauh, dan cara-cara yang dilakukan oleh guru dan siswa dalam melakukan proses belajar mengajar antara lain melalui media sosial seperti WhatsApp (WA), telegram, instagram, aplikasi zoom, VoiceNote yang tersedia di WhatsApp, ataupun media lainnya. Namun guru tetap membuat inovasi yang bermanfaat dalam proses pembelajaran dan membuat siswa menjadi semakin tertarik untuk belajar

Abstract

Audio Visual Media has been thoroughly used by teachers and learners and has become an interesting teaching tool for teaching-learning process. One of the audio-visual aid of processes used in this study was video. The objective of this research was to find out the effect of Audio Visual Media on students’ reading comprehension. Is there any significant effect on students’ reading comprehension toward audio visual media become the problem of this research. To clarify this question, the sample was divided into two groups, control group and experimental group. The total of the sample was 50 students. The experimental group was given a treatment by using Audio Visual Media while the control group was given a treatment by using conventional method. Multiple choice test consisted 25 items was an instrument in this study. It was given before and after the treatment to measure the students’ reading comprehension. Both of groups were given the same material. Based on the result, the students who were given a treatment by using audio visual media got better results compare to the students who were given a treatment without audio visual media with the value of t-table = 2,0000 <  t-observed = 6,1851. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) is successfully rejected. It could be conclude that the audio visual media significantly affects on students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the application of role plays methods in an effort to improve English speaking skill of the tenth grade students at SMA Harapan-I Medan. This research is a Classroom Action Research study conducted collaboratively. Subjects in this study were students of the tenth grade students at SMA Harapan-I Medan. While the object of this study is the application of role play methods, to improve students' speaking skill. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the percentage of the results of the completeness of the students' scores between cycle I and cycle II had increased. In the first cycle, the percentage of completeness was 40% while in the second cycle there was a significant increase to 63%. There is a 43% increase between the pre-cycle, actions of cycle I and cycle II. Thus this study was declared successful and it can be said that the use of role play methods can improve student learning outcomes in speaking

Abstract

Pemahaman teks berbahasa Inggris merupakan satu kompetensi yang diperlukan untuk menguasai materi teks yang diajarkan. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan pemahaman teks bacaan berbahasa Inggris menerapkan metode SQ3R. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah siswa SMA Harapan 1 Medan. Metode pelaksanan kegiatan dilakukan melalui penyampaian materi mengenai cara penerapan metode SQ3R dan pengerjaan latihan soal tes pemahaman bacaan berbahasa Inggris. Hasil kegiatan mengindikasikan bahwa adanya peningkatan pengetahuan siswa mengenai cara menerapkan metode SQ3R yang berdampak pada peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman siswa melalui angket dan hasil tes. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa 90% siswa telah memahami cara menerapkan metode SQ3R yang berdampak pada peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman siswa. Hasil tes siswa menunjukkan nilai rata rata kemampuan pemahaman siswa memperoleh 80 poin. Dari hasil kegiatan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi metode SQ3R mampu meningkatkan pemahaman siswa SMA Harapan 1 Medan

Abstract

ABSTRACT - This study aims to determine the application of the Community Language Learning method in improving students' speaking skills in English. The research was conducted on students of grade X SMA Nurul Hasanah Tembung. Based on the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes, it can be seen that at the stage of the first cycle, the mastery of student learning outcomes was obtained by 65% and in the second cycle, the mastery of students’ learning outcomes increased to 74%. While the average value of the two cycles shows that there are 23 students (74%) who experience completeness, while as many as 8 students (26%) do not experience completeness in the students' English speaking skills using the Community Language Learning method. Thus, it can be stated that this research is successful and it is proven that the use of the Community Language Learning method can improve students' English speaking skills. where 70% of the total number of students can follow the learning process well and have achieved an average score of 70.Keywords: Speaking Skills, English, Community Language Learning Method

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis pengaruh metode SQ3R terhadap pengetahuan, pemahaman dan minat siswa dalam membaca teks naratif. Masalah pokok dalam penelitian ini adalah SMK TELKOM MEDAN di kelas X. Penelitian ini bersifat semi eksperimen, dengan kelas eksperimen dan kontrol, serta tes yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Setelah dilakukan tes, hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa 21 siswa atau 84% memiliki nilai tinggi dan 4 siswa atau 16% memiliki nilai tinggi. Selain itu, skor rata-rata kelompok eksperimen meningkat. Nilai rata-rata 54,60 sebelum metode SQ3R digunakan. Metode SQ3R menghasilkan rata-rata hasil belajar sebesar 87,64. Setelah belajar melalui metode SQ3R, mediannya adalah 86, sedangkan pada tes sebelumnya adalah 55. Standar deviasi kelompok eksperimen adalah 1,676 sebelum diproses. Standar deviasi kelompok eksperimen adalah 2,084 setelah pembelajaran melalui metode SQ3R. Setelah menerapkan model learning and answer untuk meningkatkan minat, siswa lebih banyak membaca untuk meningkatkan minat bacanya. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca teks naratif siswa sangat dipengaruhi oleh keefektifan pembelajaran strategi ekspresi wawancara. Paradigma pembelajaran Survey, Question, Read, Recite, & Review (SQ3R), dapat menjelaskan dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa.

Abstract

The research used by researchers in this journal is an empirical method that helps researchers monitor teaching and learning processes that take place within the lecture room and take place in two cycles. The researcher used two techniques when conducting the study. The first is a pre-test that is distributed before the study is conducted and the second is a post-test that is distributed after the study is conducted. Aim is to improve student skills learn how to create procedural texts using demonstration methods in her SMK Telkom 1 Medan im Studienjahr 2022/2023. The sample drawn was her 32 students in class X TKJ 2. Improvements in student great writing skills in student learning outcomes verified by post-tests. Increased from cycle 1 to cycle 2. On pre-testing earlier than Cycle 1 became introduced, 14 of her students failed Passing marks (KKM) for 32 students. So class X-TKJ 2 SMK Telekom 1 had 18 students. Medan where you KKM can be passed later going through the exams. In cycle 1, 11 students failed the test, and in cycle 2, 3 students failed his KKM, which uses demonstration methods to create procedural texts. In another sense, it is said that 18 students passed cycle 1, 21 students passed cycle 1, and 29 students passed successfully completed cycle 2. Additionally, improve students make This research is supported by others studies and theories.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the writing skills of seventh grade students at MTs PAB 1 Helvetia Medan. The formulation of the problem is: How does the application of discussion learning method to improve writing skills for the seventh grade students of Mts PAB 1 Helvetia Medan?. The purpose of this research was to know wheter the application of discussion learning method able to improve writing skill of the seventh grade students of Mts PAB 1 Helvetia Medan. The researcher applied the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The population in this study was the seventh grade students of MTs PAB 1 Helvetia Medan, totaling 32 students. Researchers obtained qualitative data and quantitative data, the results of the study showed an increase in students' writing skills through the discussion learning method, there were 84% who were able to do writing activities. These results come from data in cycle I and cycle II. In the pre-test there were 1 student who succeeded with a percentage of 3% and 31 students who did not succeed with a percentage of 97%, and in the first cycle there were 7 students who succeeded with a percentage of 22% and 25 students did not succeed with a percentage of 78% then in the second cycle there were 27 students who succeeded with a percentage of 84% and 5 students who did not succeed with a percentage of 16% in post-test II. After the treatment, their writing aspect improved significantly. It can be said that the discussion method is effective in improving students' writing skills.

Abstract

Di era globalisasi saat ini, kemampuan berkomunikasi menggunakan Bahasa Inggris sangat penting untuk mendukung kegiatan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Buku pelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah rata-rata menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar. Dalam pembelajaran agar komunikasi berjalan secara efektif, guru dan siswa sebaiknya saling memahami pesan yang disampaikan agar komunikasi dalam proses belajar mengajar berjalan dengan baik, tanpa ada salah paham diantara guru dan siswa. Selain itu, siswa tidak memperoleh umpan balik yang memadai dalam kegiatan pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan media pembelajaran guna mendukung kegiatan berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan memanfaatkan teknologi informasi.  Media pengajaran yang digunakan dalam kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini adalah media video digital storytelling berupa fitur dan penggunaan media video digital storytelling dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa. Sasaran dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah para siswa kelas IX SMP Bina Satria Medan. Jumlah partisipan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini 25 siswa SMP Bina Satria Medan. Metode pelaksanaknaan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah dengan metode ceramaha, presentasi dan participasi siswa. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dan partisipasi siswa dalam kegiatan berkomunikasi mengguankan Bahasa Inggris.
