Abstract

This study aimed to identify politeness strategies in Rich Teen Shame Girl at Thrift Store. The research design of this research is qualitative descriptive. The data were collected by using an observational method and a non-participatory technique. The data were analyzed using the practical identity method and pragmatic competence-in equalizing. The data source in this study is Rich Teen Shame Girl at Thrift Store short films. This study showed that there were 15 data of politeness by the characters in the short film. There were 2 data on record found in the short film, 9 data of positive politeness, 2 data of negative politeness, and 1 data showed off-record. Rich Teen Shame Girl's positive politeness strategy was more dominant in Thrift Store short film. In conclusion, politeness strategies, namely bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness and off-record. Positive politeness was the most frequently used strategy of politeness. Abstract

Vocabulary which comes from English which means vocabulary, for every language user, vocabulary matters a lot. If a language user does not master vocabulary then he or she cannot convey the meaning they want to convey. So that communication between them does not occur. The purpose of this service is to equip kohai-kohai karate in facing international activities. Such as Singapore open tournament, Malaysia tournament, India open tournament, Thailand open. Every international match faced by the kohai-kohai requires communication, the communication they use is English. Mastery of vocabulary is not limited to read, but kohai-kohai need to remember and apply between fellow language users. In addition, the aim of mastery is to provide kohai-kohai in conveying the meaning simply or completely. In this community service, it was found that kohai-kohai did not master vocabulary properly. Besides that, the kohai-kohai didn't apply the vocabulary in a day. These factors are caused by an environment that does not support the use of the language, then cultural factors, other factors are the emergence of shame, shame because of fear of being wrong, embarrassed because of fear of being ridiculed by friends, embarrassed because of insecurity.

Abstract

English is one of the world's official languages. All information is published in English and all progress and events can be known through English. Therefore, it is only natural that the sports world is also obliged to know English. Athletes will find it difficult to adapt if they don't master English. An athlete who is able to speak English so the development of his knowledge will progress more quickly. In Batam, there are a lot of kohai-kohai who don't speak English, so we tried to share a little of our knowledges to invite them how they can master English better and easily. To master English, an athlete needs language proficiency. Therefore we emphasized on our kohai-kohai so that they get used to using English in their daily life. Here we also emphasized on my kohai-kohai that they must be able to distinguish words, because in English words can affect meaning. Besides that, we also emphasized on the kohai-kohai how to pronounce the words, this is very important in mastering English. After that, how to apply those words in a sentence. The procedure for making sentences is no less important than the above. Sentences can also determine the meaning or topic to be conveyed to the interlocutors.

Abstract

This service activity is an activity in the form of training on English Conversation and Introduction to Information Technology for Youth in RT 02 RW 09, Bengkong Sadai Batam which is held at the Gedung Pertemuan RW09 Bengkong.The training held is a multi-disciplinary training or combines several study programs, especially English and Computer Study Programs. The training materials have been prepared in such a way that they are able to at least provide some solutions to the problems of the younger generation that are happening in the current millennial era. These problems include, among other things, teenagers in these neighborhoods do not master English and lack information technology. This training is carried out starting in November 2021 and ending in December 2021 with as many as 5 meetings held regularly. From this training, it is hoped that the training participants will get refreshed knowledge about the application of English and Introduction to Information Technology

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan gangguan morfem yang dialami oleh responden dalam memproduksi morfem. Serta menjelaskan pada lingkungan apa terjadi produksi morfem itu secara fonologi dan neurolinguistik. Untuk mendapatkan data, penulis menggunakan metode simak dengan menggunakan teknik simak libat cakap. Untuk menganalisis data ini penulis menggunakan metode kontribusi dengan teknik bagi unsur langsung dan teknik itu didukung oleh teknik a.  Delesi, teknik substitusi, teknik tambah. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah terjadinya gangguan dalam  melafalkan fonem,  gangguan yang paling dominan terdapat pada saat melafalkan fonem /s/ yang  berubah menjadi /c/ pergantian itu terjadi hanya pada lingkungan antepenultima dan penultima gangguan pelafalan fonem /s/ itu tidak terjadi pada akhir morfem.peristiwa ini adalah pergantian pada area yang sama atau satu lingkungan yang sama yaitu pada posisi alveolar voiceless. Kemudian pada saat melafalkan fonem /r/ juga terjadi pergantian dan pelesapan, kalau dia berganti posisi, pergantian itu tetap berada pada satu lingkungan atau area yang sama yaitu  liquid plain dan tidak pernah terjadi pada posisi lain. Pelesapan fonem juga terjadi pada saat melafalkan morfem /murni/ menjadi /muni/ sedangkan pada saat menuturkan morfem /magrib/ menjadi /magib/ hal ini juga terjadi pelesapan fonem /r/. Kata Kunci: Neurolinguistik, Morfologi, Morfem

Abstract

Penulisan tesis ini bertujuan untuk menemukan gangguan reseptif mahasiswa dalam menjawab soal-soal listening. Selanjutnya dijelaskan juga bentuk gangguan reseptif mahasiswa dan dideskripsikan perbedaan tuturan antara penutur dengan pendengar berdasarkan uji speech analyzer pada mahasiswa, serta dijelaskan faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan perbedaan pemahaman antara penutur dan pendengar. Data penelitian ini adalah tuturan lisan dan tulisan mahasiswa yang mengalami gangguan reseptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode simak, pada data gangguan reseptif ini digunakan teknik dasar: teknik sadap, teknik lanjutan yang terdiri dari teknik simak libat cakap (SLC), teknik rekam, teknik catat dan teknik rekam dengan speech analyzer. Untuk analisis data digunakan metode agih dilanjutkan dengan teknik dasar berupa teknik bagi unsur langsung yang dilanjutkan dengan teknik lesap, teknik ganti, dan teknik ulang. Berdasarkan hasil analisis ditemukan beberapa bentuk gangguan reseptif, perbedaan tuturan antara penutur dengan pendengar bardasarkan uji speech analyzer, dan apa penyebab perbedaan pemahaman penutur dengan pendengar dalam mendengar teks lisan. Kemudian dalam memahami makrostruktur seperti gangguan dalam mencari tema pokok suatu cerita dengan persentase berat adalah 95,2% normal adalah 4,8%. Gangguan dalam meringkas 80% (berat) dan 20% (ringan), menangkap pesan implisit 16% (berat), 63% ringan dan 21% normal. Gangguan daya ingat 56,2 (berat), 43,8% normal. Kemudian penulis juga menemukan gangguan pragmatik seperti pragmatik reseptif, gangguan dalam memaknai pesan moral 21% (berat), 37% (ringan), 42% (normal), gangguan dalam penginterpratasian humor suatu cerita, dan gangguan koherensi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari apa saja bentuk berbeda yang dimiliki oleh kata (morfologi) kemudian di mana frase dan kata dan kalimat itu muncul (distribusi) yang terakhir apa yang ditentukan dalam frase atau kalimat tersebut (fungsi). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode dan teknik catat di samping itu penulis juga menggunakan teknik library research. Dalam mengalisis data tersebut penulis menggunakan metode kontribusi dan memakai teknik analisis bagi unsur langsung. Kajian morfosintaksis dan morfosemantik tidak dapat dipisahkan dari aspek tatabahasa yang berkaitan dengan pembentukan perkataan dan pembinaan ayat. Kedua bidang kajian ini sama-sama berlandaskan pada ilmu morfologi sebagai dasar utama pembahasannya.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of the study was to identify and analyze the literature. This research will focus on analyzing one of the intrinsic elements, namely theme. Thus, this study aims to analyze and describe the themes contained in the Novel “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe”, written by C. S. Lewis. The researcher chose to use a sociological approach in the process of literary criticism of this novel. The researcher will analyze the themes in the novel from a sociological perspective. Because literature itself is a reflection of society and social life is what gives birth to literature, therefore the two cannot be separated. According to Peck and Coyle, writers are moralists, and they observe and study the relationship between individuals and society and present their ideas about how people should behave but it would be too simplistic to say that the important thing about their novels is the message they convey (1986).

Abstract

Having a conversation is one way to get more information. When the speaker is talking to the listener, they must have context in it so that there is no misunderstanding between the speaker and the listener. To prevent misinterpretation between the speaker and the hearer, Grice proposes using the concept of cooperative values, which consists of a maxim, a simple assumption, and it can be modified. The purpose of this research is find out the type of maxim found in Moana movie. The researcher used qualitative descriptive to reveal the study, collecting the data and analyzing the data by using Pragmatics identity method. The result found that there are four maxims, namely maxims of quality, quantity, manner, and relevance in conversation of Moana movie. The researcher took 20 data from the script and found 8 maxim of quantity, 3 maxim of quality, 4 maxim of relation, and 5 maxim of manner in the script. It can be concluded that Moana did all cooperative principle in her utterances, but mostly, Moana used quantity maxim. It can be concluded that submissive of cooperative principle are mostly obeyed by character in Moana movie, so the result of communication is effective as required.
