Abstract

Endometriosis is one of the most common gynecological problem. Cells resulted in chronic inflammation and progressive, proliferative, invasive and even infiltrating an area that resembles the character of the malignancy. Ki-67 is an antigen on the cell nucleus that is found only in actively dividing cells. Expression of Ki-67 are associated with an aggressive tumor and metastasis. This study aims to determine the level of Ki-67 expression correlation with stage and size of the endometriosis cyst. Methods research is observational analytic cross cut method on 56 paraffin blocks of patients who have been diagnosed with endometriosis and had performed a laparotomy or laparoscopic surgery in Dr Hasan Sadikin Hospital. The results showed a significant relationship between the level of expression of Ki-67 with endometriosis cyst size (p <0.001) with a fairly strong relationship (0.55) according to statistics based on criteria Guilford. Moreover the results also showed a significant relationship between the level of expression of Ki-67 with endometriosis stage (p <0.001) with a fairly close relationship (0.564) according to statistics based on criteria Guilford. It can be concluded that the expression of Ki-67 associated with cyst size and stage of endometriosis. Keywords: Ki-67, endometriosis stage, endometriosis cyst

Abstract

Background: Mindi leaves (Melia azeradach L.) were used by Indonesians as a traditional medicine for pregnant women because it was considered to be safe. Mindi leaves contain several active compounds and one of them is suspected as a teratogen and can disrupt fetus growth in gestation. This research aims to know about the teratogenic effect of ethanol extract of Mindi leaves by using mice. Methods: This was a laboratory experimental study using 27 pregnant female mice (Mus musculus) of Swiss Webster strain which were randomly assigned to 3 groups (n=9) controlled (Carboxymethyl cellulose 1% for day 1–18 of pregnancy), group I (mindi leaves ethanol extract 3.22 mg+Carboxymethyl cellulose 1% day 1–5 of pregnancy), and group II (mindi leaves ethanol extract 3.22 mg+Carboxymethyl cellulose 1% day 6–18 of pregnancy). Observation was done to see total amount of fetus, live normal fetus count, length and weight of fetus, abnormal fetus count consisting of dead fetus count with normal and abnormal external morphology, and resorbed fetus count. This research was done from October to November 2012 in Pharmacological laboratory of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Padjajdjaran. Data analysis utilized unpaired t-test.Results: The result showed a significant difference (p<0.05), seen from live normal fetus count and abnormal fetus count consisting of dead fetus count with normal and abnormal external morphology, and resorpted fetus count. Conclusions: Administration of Mindi leaves extract during pregnancy of mices can cause teratogenic effect.[AMJ.2015;2(1):221–25]

Abstract

Kata Kunci: intrauterin, perkembangan, PJT, sindrom metabolik Abstract Adult period diseases correlate with intrauterine development. Hypothesis development notes that the risk in latter life is induced by intrauterine fetal adaptive responses. The responses include: mal-development of metabolism and hormone that can influence alter fetal organs development. Result of epidemiology study stated that IUGR has significant correlation with cardiac disease, stroke attack, Diabetes Mellitus type 2, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and osteoporosis. Periconception period is a sensitive period of change and nutrition deficiency. Environment memory has been recorded by the fetus since conception until fetal delivery and has consequences to be transfered to the offspring. This increases the assumption that metabolic diseases signal have epigenetic memory base and not merely multigenic base.Kay Words: intrauterine, development, IUGR, metabolic syndrome

Abstract

Antenatal care (ANC) is the most effective strategy for preventing complications in pregnancy. However, the current quality of midwife antenatal care services is still considered low. One of the indicators used for assessing midwifery service quality is the technical competency indicator that includes history taking, physical examination, case management and follow up, examination recording, and effective information, communication, and education (IEC). This study aimed to measure the effect on integrated antenatal care training on the quality of midwife services. The design was a pre-test and post-test quasi-experimental study conducted in Manonjaya Public Health Center, Tasikmalaya district, from November to December 2017. Simple random sampling was applied to get 20 respondents for each intervention and control groups. The bivariate analyses used in this study were the paired t test and the Mann-Whitney test. Results showed an overall increase in service quality scores in the intervention and control groups by 5.5% and 0.86%, respectively, with a significant difference in the increase between the two groups (p<0.05). Therefore, there is a significant increase in the quality of midwife after implementing the integrated ANC module and training to midwives.
