Abstract

Pembejaran abad ke 21 harus memliki konsep multiliteracies yang mencakup pemahaman informasi bersifat komprehensif dan factual. Dalam kegiatan sosialisasi ini, ada keteribatan para santri dari jenjang sekolah dasar, menengah, dan perguruan tinggi di lingkungan Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Mubtadi’in yang diberikan pemaparan terkait penggunaan platform dan media pembelajaran dalam matapelajaran bahasa Inggris. Hasil kegiatan sosialisasi ini adalah para santri nampak sangat bersemangat dalam mengikuti pengerjaan soal-soal bahasa Inggris secara dalam jaringan dengan menggunakan laptop atau ponsel-ponsel yang dimiliki oleh santri. Dan juga para santri mampu mengoperasikan atau menggunakan media ataupun platform pembejaran dalam jarring secara baik dan komprehensif. Sebagai contoh santri dapat membedakan berita factual dan berita Hoax yang mana itu mengindikasikan bahwa santri dapat memahami informasi dengan bijak dan sesuai fakta. Konsep multiliterasi dapat diimplementasikan dalam bentuk pengintegrasian peran digital teknologi dengan materi yang terkait dan berkontribusi pada peningkatan wawasan baru dalam pemanafaatan sosial media dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris atau bisa dikatakan mahasiswa diarahkan menjadi pribadi yang multiliterate yang mana mahasiswa mampu menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang bernuansa multiliterasi pada abad ke 21 ini.

Abstract

The aimed of this research was to explain how the use of the Transition-Action-Details Strategy enhance students’ writing skills in narative text in creating the story. It was to explain how the TAD enhance students writing skills in narative text dealing with the organization of writing. Research design was classroom action research. The data for this study were gained through test, and observation, and the respondents were four semester students who used TAD activity. The study revealed that that TAD Strategy enhance students’ writing skill in narrative text Text. The students’ means score in cycle two test was (78.99). the result was much better than  cycle  one (67.94). Based on the result above it can  be concluded that TAD could enhance sudents writing narative text.

Abstract

 Abstract: (TPI) Teacher Professional Identity defined as self-images or self-interpretation related to people's internal systems. While the teacher constructing professional identity, it was provided a good teacher quality especially in teacher-students relationship. The teaching internship program is the program that the students implemented real teaching situations. Some of pre-service English teachers had a lack of experience in teaching, they had a lack to build positive relationships with the students as well as the interpersonal identity, and they had a lack of awareness to build their identity. The study aimed to reveal (1) how preservice English teachers build teachers-students relationship as the interpersonal identity; (2) how pre-service English teacher reflective self-evaluations during teaching; (3) how university improve students’ awareness of their identity. The study utilized qualitative research with narrative design, the instruments used observations, interviews and questionnaires. The researcher used purposive sampling with five participants to collect data. The researcher found some pre-service English teacher had positive and negative relationship as well as desirable and undesirable interpersonal identity. Pre-service English teacher beliefs, teachers’ roles, and implemented of ICT were discussed in result. After pre-service English teachers finished the internship program, they had realized to evaluate their selves as a whole become future teachers.Keywords: Pre-service English Teachers, Teaching Internship, Teacher Professional Identity.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate how the use of google meet could improve students’ speaking skills of English deparments’ students in semester four of Universitas Majalengka. This particular research was categorized as action research. The actions were implemented in two cycles based on the class schedule. This research involved the twenty two students. The data of the study were in the forms of qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process of speaking. Meanwhile, the quantitave data were acquired through test. The research findings showed that the use of google meet as the teaching media combined with the use of speaking activities and classroom English was proven to be effective to improve the students’ speaking skills.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigates the impact of critical reading strategies on students’ reading competence. The participants of this research were semester three students of English education. The sample of this research was twenty three students. This research used test and observation to determine their level of reading competence during the learning. The research showed that this Strategy enhanced students’ reading competence. The students’ means score in cycle two test was (80.95). the result was much better than  cycle  one (70.94). Based on the result above it can  be concluded that critical reading could enhance sudents reading competence.

Abstract

The research is entitled “students’ mastery of parts of speech (noun, pronoun, and verb) in English writing. The purposes of this research are (1) to find out the students’ mastery of parts of speech (noun, pronoun and verb), (2) to find out the most and least understood parts of speech among noun, pronoun and verb often found in English writing, (3) to find out the common problems faced by the students,(4). To find out workable solutions to these problems so as to increase the students’ mastery in using parts of speech (noun, pronoun and verb) in English writing. The data collections are done by giving questionnaire, test in completion item and simple English writing. The conclusion of this research are: (1) the students’ mastery of parts of speech is fair (60,30), (2) the most understood parts of speech is Noun (21,66% error) and the least understood parts of speech is Verb (49,46% error), (3) common problems happened in constructing countable and uncountable noun, using possessive pronoun and pronoun function as object, and using full verb and to be in constructing continuous and future tense. (4) The workable solutions that can be used are by using game, and quiz.

Abstract

The study is entitled the students’ perception on Quizizz as Game Based Learning as a in learning grammar in Written discourse. The aimed of this research was to investigate students’ opinion on Quizizz as Game Based Learning as a in learning grammar in Written discourse and their obstacles in the implementation. The data for this study were gained through qualitative method that used questionnaire and interview, and the respondents were four semester students who used quizziz as their learning activity. And created 10 questions relevant to the topics which are students already learned before by using Quizizz as games based learning for 20 minutes before finishing grammar in written discourse class once the students feel very tired, sleeping and bored for their grammar in written discourse class. The study revealed that the students had positive perception on the use of quizziz, and all students were very active to answer the questions which provided by researches, and more concentrated on the topic. The result of the study expected to give contribution in improving EFL teaching and learning activity, especially in learning grammar in Written discourse.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berlangsung di universitas/sekolah tinggi di Kabupaten Majalengka pada mahasiswa semester empat dengan berdasar pada asumsi bahwa kemampuanmenulis harus dikembangkan secara berkesinambungan sebagai salah satu upaya untuk menciptakan budaya literasi di kampus. Metode RMD merupakan pengembangan dari metode RCM yang telah berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan menulis pada siswa SD kelas tinggi. Penulis mencoba mengadaptasinya agar bisa diterapkan pada mahasiswa yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan lebih tinggi. Metode itu dilakukan dengan pendekatan Collaborative Writing untuk membuat pembelajaran writing menjadi lebih menyenangkan dan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa untuk membuat karangan yang layak publikasi. Data penelitian diperoleh dari beberapa cara, yakni melalui analisis dokumen, observasi, kuesioner dan wawancara. Hasil observasi awal, kemampuan menulis mahasiswa masih rendah, mereka sulit menemukan ide dan mengembangkan karangan sehingga perlu dicari metode dan pendekatan yang cocok untuk mengatasinya. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan metode RMD dikombinasikan dengan pendekatan collaborative writing bisa digunakan karena hal itu memberikan ide dan merangsang imajinasi dan kreatifitas mahasiswa sehingga mereka mampu mengembangkan karangan. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa menigkat signifikan dengan menggunakan metode RMD yang dikombinasikan dengan collaborative writing sehingga mereka mampu membuat buku.

Abstract

Quizizz is an online assessment tool as a fun multiplayer classroom activity that allows all students to practice together with their computer, Smartphone and I Pad. The main purpose of this research was to find the effect of implemening quizziz in the discourse classroom of Universitas Majalengka. The population of this research were semester four studens of English department, and the samples were 22 students. This research belongs to pre-experimental research and one group pre and pos test design. It described about a study that cast about the effect of giving treatment of using quizziz in single group only.A pre-experimental research was conducted by comparing the means of the participants’ scores in both pre-test and post-test. The analysis figured out that there was a significant improvement, proven by the paired t-test analysis.The p-value 0.00 was less than alpha 0.05. This research concluded that quizziz was effective to assist the students to learn grammar in written discouse.After implementing quizziz, most of studentsfound that were very active to answer the questions which provided by researches, and more concentrated on the topic. And the results of the questioners shows that the students displayed the position attitude for quizizz as a online teaching and assessment tool during the Grammar in Written Discourse class.

Abstract

There are a lot of problems and difficulties that face by students in the speaking activities. Teacher need a learning technique to apply especially in speaking activities and teacher often use is the grouping technique thus the teacher assigns them a group to work with which students have their own perception towards group work in speaking activities. This study aimed to know how teacher implement group work in speaking activities and to find out students perception on group work in speking activities. This research is a case study research using a qualitative approach. The participants of this study were 26 tenth-grade students in one of the senior high schools in Majalengka. The results showed that teacher implemented group work in speaking activities and have five steps to implemented it, and the students perception on group work is that there are advantages doing group work in speaking activities, indicating that students have a positive perception on group work in speaking activities. Although there are perceptions of group work have many advantage, students also have the perceptions of group work in speaking activities have disadvantage. Students feel like there are a group member that doesn’t contribute much in the group especially in speaking activities. However students feel there are disadvantage on group work in speaking activities but it still cannot compare with the many advantage on the implementation of group work in speaking activities.
