Abstract

The Shattariyyah tradition in Pamijahan, which this article deals with, is a good example of the dynamics of sufi tradition in Java, which can be seen from their reception on narrative of the Sufi master (silsilah). The discussion of this article will elaborate the silsilah of Shattariyyah in Pamijahan and its implication to their followers. It is evident that until now there is no adequate information regarding Shattariyyah tradition in West Java, particularly Pamijahan, which had been a famous center of Shattariyyah in Java since its the early period. Describing this issue, it is hoped that article can come to the description of general background of Shattariyyah tradition in Indonesia.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v8i2.688

Abstract

AbstrakBerbicara perempuan merupakan sesuatu yang kompleks, salah satu permasalahan yang mendasar adalah stereotip yang dibangun oleh masyarakat Indonesia terhadap gender. Dengan meneliti novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala, tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi stereotip gender sebagai kritik terhadap ideologi mayoritas dalam institusi keluarga dan dunia bisnis yang masih melanggengkan wacana patriarki. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teori naratologi Gerard Genette dan teori feminisme Ann Oakley yang berfokus pada gender sebagai konstruksi budaya. Fokalisasi dalam novel yang direpresentasikan oleh tokoh Lebas dan narator orang ketiga memperlihatkan teks menggugat pandangan negatif terhadap perempuan dan memperlihatkan perkembangan perempuan dalam dunia bisnis. Stereotip terhadap perempuan juga dihadirkan melalui komponen terkecil yaitu keluarga. Konstruksi resistensi perempuan merupakan upaya menggugat stereotip yang hadir dalam wacana dominasi melalui hubungan antara ibu dan anak perempuan serta perempuan dengan perempuan lainnya melalui proses pemberdayaan (empowerment).Kata-kata kunci:stereotip gender, resistensi perempuan, gadis kretek, budaya, pemberdayaan.AbstractTalking about women is a complex thing, one of the fundamental problems is the stereotype that is built by the Indonesian people towards gender. By examining Gadis Kretek novel by Ratih Kumala, the purpose of this study is to identify gender stereotypes as critique of the majority ideology in family institutions and the business world which still perpetuates patriarchal discourse. This study uses a qualitative method with Gerard Genette's narrative theory and Ann Oakley's feminist theory which focuses on gender as a cultural construct. The focalization in the novel, which is represented by the character Lebas and the third person narrator, shows the text challenging negative views of women and showing the development of women in the business world. Stereotypes against women are also presented through the smallest component, namely the family. The construction of women's resistance is an effort to challenge the stereotypes that are present in the discourse of domination through the relationship between mothers and daughters and women and other women through a process of empowerment.Keywords: gender stereotypes, women's resistance, gadis kretek, culture, empowerment.

Abstract

A secondary burial practice known as Mangongkal Holi originated in the Toba Batak people. For hundreds of years, the Toba Batak tribe has incorporated this ceremony completely. Mangongkal Holi, unlike other Indonesian burial customs that have been successful in attracting tourists like the Ngaben and Rambu Solo celebrations, is going through an existential crisis, as evidenced by the somewhat less intense manner in which it is currently being practiced. The purpose of this study is to examine how the discourse around the Mangongkal Holi rite contributes to the development of Toba Batak cultural identity. In-depth interviews with Toba Batak tribal members served as the source of the research's data, along with a literature review. This study uses Ernesto Laclau's insight analysis as its analytical framework. According to the findings, the Mangongkal Holi ritual was articulated into four nodal points: reverence for ancestors, indifference to other religions, prestige, and unity. Based on the subject position analysis, the individuals from Jakarta Toba Batak demonstrate that there is a contingency of identity for Jakarta Toba Batak in the Mangongkal Holi discourse brought on by the individual's involvement with traditional institutions. The Mangongkal Holi rite seeks to promote clan harmony among those Jakarta Toba Batak people who have a close relationship with adat. It is no longer relevant to the social reality of Jakarta, which stresses efficiency in all aspects of life, such as time and money efficiency, for Jakarta Toba Batak people who are far from the Mangongkal Holi ceremony.

Abstract

Kesenian merupakan salah satu unsur kebudayaan yang mendapatkan perhatian khusus dalam masyarakat Islam. Praktik kesenian dalam perspektif agama yang berhubungan dengan gerakan moral, salah satunya tampak pada media dakwah visual. Tulisan ini bertujuan mengungkapkan makna poster dakwah, pesan apa yang ingin disampaikan oleh desainer kepada umat Islam secara luas. Selain itu, Tulisan ini juga ingin menemukan kaitan antara seni dan agama. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Adapun semiotika Peirce digunakan sebagai alat analisis. Hasilnya, poster dakwah sebagai media untuk berdakwah merupakan salah satu ekspresi kecintaan kepada Sang Khalik. Poster dakwah merupakan sebentuk media persuasif yang mengingatkan tugas utama makhluk kepada Tuhannya, yaitu beribadah.

Abstract

Berdakwah melalui media visual adalah metode baru dalam berdakwah yang berkembang saat ini. Penelitian ini mengkaji media dakwah visual yang dibuat oleh Muslim Designer Community (MDC), yaitu Banner Dakwah Ramadhan (BANDARA) yang dibuat khusus untuk konten Ramadan. Fokus bahasan pada artikel ini adalah BANDARA 1441. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Analisis data diawali dengan melakukan identifikasi setiap elemen desain, kemudian membangun konstuksi pemaknaannya dengan menggunakan relasi antar-elemen desain yang menjadi pembentuk makna utama pada gambar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa secara semiosis proposisi yang dibentuk oleh tanda visual mengacu pada objeknya secara indeksikal, mengikuti pola induksi proposisi -> indeksikal -> legisign
