Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the supplementation of dl-methionine and l-lysine HCl to diet based on cafeteria standards of native chickens on body weight, internal organs and reproductive organs of native chicken at pullet phase. A total of 128 fourteen weeks-old native chickens were used in this study. The native chickens were divided into 4 treatments with 4 replications. The dietary treatments were: T0 (ration based on cafeteria standard), T1 (ration based on protein standard of NRC), T2 (cafeteria ration+0.09% DL-Methionine+0.22% L-Lysine HCl), T3 (cafeteria ration+0.19% dl-methionine+0.42% l-lysine HCl). The data collected were body weight, liver and bile, pancreas, gizzard, testicular and ovary weight  of native chickens aged 20 weeks. The result of this study for T0, T1, T2 and T3 showed that body weight of chickens were 1418.60; 1431.59; 1503.88 and 1556.41 g/bird, liver and bile weights were 22.44; 21.79; 24.49 dan 25.93 g/bird, pancreas weights were 2.33; 2.28; 2.50 and 2.70 g/bird, gizzard weight were 25.31; 23.91; 25.38 and 26.86 g/bird, testicular weight were 3.66; 3.86; 9.55 and 9.46 g/bird, testicular volume were 3.81; 3.38; 9.13 and 9.16 and ovary weight were 1.12; 1.32; 3.14 and 4.61 g/bird, respectively. The results showed that supplementation of DL-Methionine and L-Lysine HCl gave significantly effect (P<0.05) upon body weight, liver and bile weight, pancreas weight, testicular weight and volume and ovary weight, but it did not effected to gizzard weight. It can be concluded that supplementation of 0.27% dl-methionine and 0.79% l-lysine HCl increase body weight, internal organs weight and reproductive organs weight of native chickens.  Keywords: Cafeteria, DL-Methionine, L-Lysine HCl, Native Chicken, Supplementation

Abstract

The aim of this experiment was to identify the internal organs weight of 6-weeks old native chickens after treatment feed with l-threonine and l-tryptophan supplement. This experimental research used 128 native chickens aged one-week-old in a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and four replications. The dietary treatments were T0 (control feed), T1 (T0 + 0.35% l-threonine + 0.10% l-tryptophan), T2 (T0 + 0.68% l-threonine + 0.17% l-tryptophan), and T3 (T0 + 1.00% l-threonine + 0.25% l-tryptophan). The variables measured included body weight, liver weight, pancreas weight, gizzard weight, and intestinal length. Statistical analysis showed that l-threonine and l-tryptophan significantly affected body weight, liver weight, pancreas weight, gizzard weight and intestinal length. Supplementing 1.00% l-threonine and 0.25% l- tryptophan to feed contributed to the highest body weight and internal organs weight of native chickens.

Abstract

This study aims to determine feasibility of broiler production based on local food with variations in calcium and phosphorus; and knowing difference feasibility of the business it gets. This research was conducted at farmer's cage in Sasi Village, Kefamenanu for 2 months (July-August, 2020). A total of 96 broiler day old chick (DOC) were used in this study. Research was conducted with an experimental method using a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. Each replication consisted of 6 broiler chickens aged 1 day. Parameters observed were body weight, feed cost efficiency, sales price, and business feasibility. Data on body weight, feed cost and selling price of chickens were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (Anova) and Duncan's test, while business feasibility was analyzed by using B / C ratio. The results showed that the highest body weight, feed cost and selling price were found in P3. There is a feed cost efficiency at P3 and P2 compared to P1 and P0 (P <0.05), and highest revenue is at P3. Treatment with 2.0% calcium and 0.5% phosphorus (P3) supplementation be a highest economic feasibility. In addition, variation in treatment provides a significant difference in cost and selling value. Use of local feed of yellow maize and bran with calcium and phosphorus supplementation could reduce costs of broiler production.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of pro-bio addition in the feed to weight gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion of broilers. This study was carried out in the cage’s of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Timor University from September to November, 2018. A total 80 day-old broilers (DOC) were used in the study. The feed utilized were BR1, BR2 and pro-bio. The experiment was designed as a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments consisted of P0 (commercial feed without probio), P1 (99,7% commercial feed +0.3% probio), P2 (99,5% commercial feed +0.5% probio) and P3 (99.3% commercial feed + 0,7% probio). The variables observed were weight gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion. The data of weight gain of P0, P1, P2 and P3 were 49,05; 52,53; 48,80 and 53,42 g/bird/day, respectively. The feed consumption were 134,74; 137,21; 138,16 and 139,52 g/bird/day, respectively. The feed conversion were 2,75; 2,62; 2,83 and 2,61, respectively. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the addition of pro-bio had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on feed consumption, whereas weight gain and feed conversion had not significant effect. It was concluded that the addition of probiotics in feed had no effect on weight gain, feed conversion but could have a significant effect on feed consumption.

Abstract

The purpose of this experiment was to know the effect of L-lysine HCl supplementation in feed on the body dimensions of broilers. This experiment has been carried out in the Housing of Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, the University of Timor for 39 days, from December 2019 to January 2020. The experiment used 80 fourteen-day broilers. The method used in this experiment is a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments given were T0 (control feed), T1 (L-lysine HCl supplementation 0,35%), T2 (L-lysine HCl supplementation 0,70%), and T3 (L-lysine HCl supplementation 1,00%). The variables observed in this experiment were body length, chest circle, shoulder height, sternum length, femur length, and tibia length. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance Analysis and Duncan’s Test. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the treatment had a significant effect on body length, chest circle, shoulder height, sternum length, femur length, and tibia length of broilers (P<0,05). It was concluded that supplementation of 0,70% L-lysine HClin feeds increased the body dimensions of broilers.
