Abstract

Percobaan dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari-Juni 2012 di Teaching Farm Tajur dan Laboratorium Pasca Panen Baranang Siang, PKHT-IPB -Bogor. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui karakter morfologi bunga, buah dan kualitas buah tiga genotipe pepaya hibrida, yaitu IPB H91, IPB H93 dan IPB H39. Parameter yang diamati yaitu karakter kualitatif dan kuantitatif bunga serta buah, uji kualitas fisik dan kimia buah, serta uji organoleptik. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan ketiga genotipe pepaya hibrida memiliki keunggulan karakter yang berbeda-beda. IPB H91 memiliki keunggulan tangkai bunga yang panjang serta jumlah bunga per buku dan buah yang banyak, bobot daging buah, persentase bagian yang dapat dimakan dan ketebalan daging buah yang besar, daging buah yang keras dan asam tertitrasi total yang rendah. IPB H93 memiliki keunggulan jumlah bunga yang banyak, jumlah biji per buah yang sedikit dan nilai padatan terlarut total yang tinggi. IPB H39 memiliki keunggulan jarak antar ruas bunga yang pendek, kulit buah yang keras dan kandungan vitamin C yang tinggi. Hasil uji organoleptik juga menunjukkan genotipe IPB H39 memiliki bentuk dan rasa yang lebih disukai oleh panelis. Genotipe IPB H91 dapat dijadikan alternatif untuk memperoleh pepaya hibrida karena memiliki banyak karakter unggul pada fase generatifnya daripada kedua genotipe lainnya.

Abstract

Java’s tea plants have efficacy to treat diabetes. Sinensetin is a chemical compound in Java’s tea that acts as diabetes medicine. The experiment objective was to study diversity of agronomy characters and sinensetin content of ex situ collections of Java’s tea from West, Central, and East Java regions. Java’s tea was harvested when population has flowering about 70% and tested sinensetin content on leaf part. The experiment was conducted with a completely randomized block design with 18 accessions and one control (purple flower accession). The result of study showed that there were significant differences in the accumulation of height plant increase while 8 weeks after planting, secondary branches and secondary branches internode number; leaf length, width and area index; average stems and leaf dry weight per 4.41 m2 and sinensetin levels among some accessions. Banyumas 1, Sumbersari and Kraksaan accessions have agronomy and production characters except for sinensetin levels were better than control (Leaf sinensetin levels based on leaf dry weight increased from low to medium but decreased in high category) Based on comparison between accession and leaf dry weight category, purple flower accession has higher sinensetin levels (0.043%) than another accession, but only reaches 43% of Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia minimum standard (There were no significant differences in sinensetin accession production tested either by comparison of accession or accession categories). Abstract

Batu Busuk village, Lambung Bukit, Pauh Sub-district, Padang City is one of the durians producing centre that is known for its good fruit quality. As a smallholding's plantation, durian is subsistence cultivation with minimum preservation. Generally, the durian plant derived from seed multiplication, hence the quality of the product is not uniform and less productive. It is, therefore, necessary to transfer the appropriate technology that can provide seedlings in a short time and fast, simple implementation with a high success rate. Mini-grafting technology becomes a solution for the rejuvenation of durian in Batu Busuk. The community activities start in 2018 and persist in 2020. Durian nursery has carried out from July 2019, and the distribution of seedlings to the community has conducted in February 2020. The methods of transfer technology were counselling, plot demonstration and training to the durian planter community. Based on results, the problem in providing seedlings for rejuvenation of durian plants in Batu Busuk can be overcome by supplying seedlings from mini-grafting implementation. The nursery of durian with mini-grafting technology was successfully carried out and gained approximately 1100 seedlings. The mini-grafting success rate performed by durian planters reached 43%, indicating that skills play a fundamental role in the success rate of grafting on durian. Evaluation of the root stock growth demonstrated that we could use medium- and large-sized seeds from any variety of durian as rootstock due to its better growth performance. Hence, the mini-grafting technology on durian nursery activity must be maintained independently and sustainably by using the scion derived from its superior local durian in order to the advancement of durian of Batu Busuk.

Abstract

Sorgum adalah salah satu bahan pangan sumber karbohidrat lokal selain beras. Sorgum memiliki kandungan nutrisi yang tidak kalah dengan beras dan berpotensi sebagai bahan pangan alternatif untuk mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap bahan pangan impor yakni gandum. Kajian teknkik budidaya dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas biji sorgum masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh pemberian pupuk kandang ayam terhadap pertumbuhan dan kualitas biji tanaman sorgum yang ditanam di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Andalas pada bulan November 2020 hingga Maret 2021. Analisis protein dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian pada bulan Mei 2021. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan perlakuan dosis pupuk kandang ayam (0 kg/tan, 0.25 kg/tan, 0.5 kg/tan dan 0.75 kg/tan) diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman sorgum. Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada kadar protein dan produksi protein pada biji tanaman sorgum. Dosis pupuk kandang ayam 0.75 kg/tan menghasilkan kadar protein biji lebih tinggi sebesar 13.48 % dan produksi protein 39.57 g/100 biji namun tidak berbeda dengan perlakuan dosis pupuk kandang ayam 0.5 kg/tanaman.

Abstract

Jamur tiram merupakan jenis jamur yang lezat untuk dikonsumsi dan memiliki nilai gizi yang tinggi. Kelompok Wanita Tani Limau Manis Sejahtera (KWT LMS) memiliki usaha budidaya jamur tiram. Kendala yang ada pada KWT LMS yaitu apabila terjadi panen yang melimpah maka jamur tiram tidak terjual di Pasar. Jamur memiliki sifat yang sama dengan sayuran yaitu mudah mengalami kerusakan dan menjadi busuk jika tidak segera diolah cepat dan tepat. Salah satu produk olahan yang bisa dikembangkan yaitu penyedap alami berbahan baku jamur tiram putih. Tujuan dari program ini adalah anggota KWT LMS dapat memiliki keterampilan dalam membuat penyedap alami berbahan jamur tiram, meningkatkan kondisi perekonomian dengan melakukan diversifikasi (keanekaragaman) produk pangan berbahan baku jamur tiram. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terbagi menjadi tiga tahapan yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelatihan teknik pembuatan penyedap alami jamur tiram, dan bimbingan lanjut. Kata kunci: Jamur tiram, limau manis sejahtera, pengolahan, penyedap alami ABSTRACT Oyster mushroom is a type of mushroom that is delicious for consumption and has high nutritional value. Farmer Women's Group 'Limau Manis Sejahtera' (KWT LMS) has an oyster mushroom cultivation business. The obstacle in KWT LMS is that if there is an abundant harvest, oyster mushrooms can only sell some in the market. Mushrooms have the same properties as vegetables, easily damaged and rotten if not processed quickly and precisely. One processed product that can be developed is a natural flavouring made from white oyster mushrooms. This program aims for KWT LMS members to have skills in making natural flavourings from oyster mushrooms, improving economic conditions by diversifying (diversity) food products made from oyster mushrooms. The method of implementing this activity is divided into three stages: the preparation stage, the training stage for the natural oyster mushroom flavouring technique, and further guidance. Abstract

Long beans are a popular horticultural crop known for their nutritious green vegetables, particularly the young fruit and leaves. There have been numerous studies conducted on the cultivation and breeding of long beans. However, further research is required to obtain more data on preparation of stomata imprint and morphology. This study aims to examine the optimization and modification of stomatal printing methods on long bean plants to produce imprint in a short time with clear quality. The experiment was carried out from April to June 2021 at the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University, using stomatal printing method on long bean plant leaves. The experiment consisted of two stages: first, the removal of cuticle and trichome; and second, the method of application of the printing material and the drying time of the imprint. Based on the experimental results, it was found that stomatal imprint of long bean plants could be obtained without having to remove the cuticle or trichomes. Applying a thin layer of nail polish for at least 20 minutes can produce 100% imprinted stomata, while using a thin layer of adhesive glue takes at least 10 minutes. Adhesive glue can be used as an alternative to nail polish with faster drying time and clearer imprint results in the stomatal printing method. The stomata number of long bean plants is enormous, with a density of 184-237 per mm2. The stomata type of long bean plants is parasitic.

Abstract

Farmers commonly use inorganic fertilizers such as urea, rock phosphate, and NPK in crop cultivation. Continuous use of these inorganic fertilizers can degrade the quality of the growing medium and increase production costs. Inorganic fertilizers are also relatively expensive. One way to address this issue is by utilizing allelochemical compounds as Liquid Organic Fertilizers (LOF) for plant cultivation. Applying fertilizers in liquid form is more easily absorbed by plants because they are already dissolved and readily available. Babandotan liquid organic fertilizer contains essential nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). These elements play a crucial role in stimulating vegetative growth, promoting root development, and strengthening the plant's overall health. The objective of this activity is to enhance the knowledge of the members of the Banda Langik Women Farmers Group about liquid organic fertilizer made from Babandotan weed, as well as to fulfill the Higher Education Tri Dharma for lecturers in the Agrotechnology Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University. This community service activity was conducted at the Banda Langik Women Farmers Group, located at Jl. Ekora RT01/RW07 Sungai Bangek, Balai Gadang Village, Koto Tangah District, Padang City, in May-June 2022. The activities performed included preparation, socialization, closing, and reporting. Based on the results of the activity, several key points were identified, including that the community service program was conducted according to the needs of the Women Farmers Group, the group was satisfied and found the service beneficial for their development in the future, and the group members were committed to using LOF in their cultivation areas.

Abstract

Limau Manis Village is one of the villages in Pauh District, Padang City. Oyster mushroom cultivation can be carried out by farmer groups because the technology used is appropriate technology. Oyster mushroom cultivation can use equipment that is very familiar to the community and easy to obtain. Another advantage of oyster mushroom cultivation is that land use is not too large and there are not many pest attacks on oyster mushrooms. Oyster mushroom has a very broad market. the importance of kumbung sanitation to the members of the Sejahtera Limau Manis Oyster Mushroom Cultivation Group and making improvements to the kumbung of one of the members as a pilot for an ideal kumbung design

Abstract

The Limau Manis Farmers Group is a farmer group located in Limau Manis Village, Pauh Subdistrict, Padang City. This farmer group has been engaged in the cultivation of white oyster mushrooms, and its development has been quite successful. Productive economic development can create a sustainable economy and provide a business opportunity that is ready to compete, thus becoming a source of income for farmers. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many people lost their jobs, making economic needs even more challenging. The oyster mushroom production efforts of this farmer group are capable of producing a considerable amount of oyster mushrooms. However, there are some obstacles and challenges to producing even more oyster mushrooms. This is due to several factors such as (1) the short shelf life of fresh oyster mushrooms; (2) limited knowledge in processing oyster mushroom harvests; (3) funding issues to support oyster mushroom processing activities; (4) the group's limited knowledge of labeling and packaging; and (5) the group's limitations in managing digital marketing. The most common challenge faced is the frequent delay in spawn availability. Furthermore, the high cost of spawn can also reduce the income of the LMS group. Through benchmarking or visits to advanced oyster mushroom cultivation groups such as the De Jamur group in Sungai Sarik, Padang Pariaman, new knowledge can be acquired, and innovations can be found for the LMS group, resulting in improved mushroom productivity in that group compared to before.
