Abstract

Makalah ini berisi tinjauan komprehensif terhadap literatur tentang proses penyangraian kopi dan pembentukan akrilamida sebagai hasil sampingan proses pengolahan biji kopi diterbitkan antara tahun 2008 hingga 2018. bagian besar penelitian bersifat empiris dan sebagian besar studi berfokus pada proses pengolahan kopi dan efek akrilamida pada kesehatan tubuh. Temuan penting lainnya, sebagian kajian menganggap bahwa kopi mampu meningkatkan kesehatan tubuh. Ulasan ini menyajikan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang manfaat dan bahaya kopi serta pengaruh penyangraian terhadap mutu kopi yang dihasilkan. Tinjauan ini juga menyoroti tentang alat sangrai kopi yang relatif kurang dieksplorasi. Akademisi, peneliti dan kelompok tani dapat menggunakan hasil kajian ini sebagai pedoman dalam menyangrai kopi. Penyangraian dengan waktu dan suhu yang efektif dapat mengurangi pembentukan akrilamida pada kopi, namun perlu kajian literatur terbaru yang berkaitan dengan proses pengolahan kopi terutama pada proses penyangraian.

Abstract

The 3rd generation mutant brown rice from the experimental cultivation of the 3rd generation mutant has problems in plant characteristics and various genetic traits. In the results of the research of the 3rd generation of mutants, several mutants with production levels were obtained in accordance with the initial objectives of the study, namely early-mature mutants and significant plant height. However, some mutants have unstable plant characters and traits, so a multi-location test of cultivation of the 3rd generation mutant was carried out at two locations with different elevations in order to obtain a 4th generation mutant which is more stable and has uniform characters and properties. This research was conducted in Jorong Sungai Batang, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency with a medium elevation level of 637,032 m above sea level and in Surau Gadang Village, Nanggalo District, Padang City with a minimum elevation level of 10.363 m above sea level. This research was carried out from December 2019 to April 2020. The materials used were M3 harvested red rice seeds of the Sigah genotype, namely mutant numbers MG13, MG9, MG2-209, MG5-58,MG6 and control seeds of red rice genotype Sigah. The purpose of the study was to obtain diversity and determine the stability of agronomic characters in the production of local red rice yields of West Sumatran Sigah M4 variety at two different elevations of the cultivation environment. From the results of the research, it was found that the diversity and agronomic characters of plants were quite stable in mutants numbered MG13, MG2-209 and MG5-58 with early plant age, and stable growth in the generative and vegetative phases.

Abstract

This study was aimed to obtain the method in the study of callus induction of in vitro.  The research activities were carried out at Laboratory of Biotechnology, Faculty of Agrotechnology, Andalas University. This research used decriptive and experimental methods. One-way ANOVA analysis followed by Duncan’s test was used to determine significant differences (P ≤ 0.05). All statistical analysis were performed using the SPSS Ver. 23 statistical software package. The results showed that medium of callus induction is 4,0 mg/L BAP + 0,5 mg/L IAA with formation of callus (days), and average of callus formed, namely 4,33 days,  and 9,67 callus.

Abstract

Sidimpuan snake fruit is one of the local specialties of Padangsidimpuan City in Sumatra. The fruit is known for its sweet, sour and astringent taste which differentiates it from Pondoh and Balinese snake fruit. However, snake fruit farmers have been experiencing an increasing failure rate of fruit-set during the off-season which has led to a decrease in production.   Use fertilization and drip irrigation in the off-season has been suggested as a solution. This research investigates the use of these to overcome the failure of fruit set to optimize production of Sidimpuan snake fruit throughout the year by determining the optimal dosage of ammonium sulfate fertilizer and drip irrigation for fruit set and production in the off-season. This research used a split-plot design with the main plot for drip irrigation and the subplot for ammonium sulfate. Observation parameters include the number of flower and fruit bunches, fruit set percentage and a nutrient analysis of the leaves. The results revealed that drip irrigation had a significant effect on the observed variables of fruit set and number of harvested fruit bunches.  Drip irrigation had a significant effect on the fruit set percentage and the number of harvested fruit bunches. The best combination of treatments was also discovered to be 400 g ammonium sulfate fertilizer per plant and drip irrigation 3000 ml/plant. The fertilization period of July-Sept gave an off season harvest that was able to match the fruit set percentage (10.76% difference) and number of fruit bunches that were formed (25.65% difference ) by the April-June fertilization for the on-season harvest demonstrating that drip irrigation and ammonium sulfate can overcome fruit set failure in Sidimpuan snake fruit during the off-season.

Abstract

Potato is a leading commodity in Alahan Panjang, Solok, West Sumatra. However, the existence of potatoes is increasingly limited due to the fewer farmers who cultivate this plant. The difficulty in obtaining quality seeds is the main reason farmers replace potatoes with other horticultural commodities. There is now a new potato breeding technology that promises higher seed production and seed quality. Aeroponics technology is a cultivation technology without using media. This technology relies on regular misting of water and nutrients into the root zone of the plant. However, this technology has not been applied by potato farmers in West Sumatra Province. The purpose of this activity is to develop a strategy for developing potato seed farming through an aeroponic system and empowering farmers to become producers of high-quality potato seeds through the development and transfer of technology for potato seed production in aeroponics so that farmers can meet their own seed needs within the framework of potato farming. This activity was carried out in Jorong Galagah, Alahan Panjang village, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency. The implementation of the activity consists of two activities: 1) dissemination/socialization of activities and 2) demonstration of aeroponic potato seed production technology. The partner of this activity is the Harapan Baru Farmers Group. The Harapan Baru Farmers Group is one of the farmer groups in Alahan Panjang whose members are horticultural farmers, including potatoes. The results of the activity obtained by partner farmers are generally optimistic that they can carry out potato seed breeding with an aeroponic system independently after following the stages of training activities. This farmer group has applied bio cellular technology to produce potato seeds and use it for consumption potato production. With the application of aeroponic technology, it is expected that the productivity of potato seeds produced will be higher, and the quality of the seeds will also be better.

Abstract

Padi lokal masih banyak ditemukan dan merupakan aset sumber daya genetik dalam penyediaan varietas unggul yang adaptif, sehingga pengembangannya masih terus diupayakan. Salah satu jenis padi gogo lokal di Sumatera Utara yang banyak ditanam masyarakat adalah padi gogo beras merah, selain memiliki keunggulan baik sebagai makanan pokok maupun fungsi kesehatan bagi tubuh. Varietas lokal biasanya beradaptasi baik pada daerah asalnya dengan rasa nasi dan aroma sesuai selera masyarakat setempat. Namun demikian padi lokal memiliki kekurangan seperti umur dalam, batang tinggi sehingga mudah rebah, tidak responsif terhadap pemupukan dan produksi rendah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sejak April 2016 sampai Juni 2017 bertujuan untuk memperbaiki genetik padi beras merah lokal Sumatera Utara (Sigambiri merah) khususnya terkait umur tanaman agar lebih genjah dan postur pendek/semi pendek melalui pemuliaan mutasi (mutasi induksi). Untuk mendapatkan dosis optimum, benih padi diiradiasi dengan sinar gamma Co-60 dosis 0, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, dan 1000 Gy di Pusat Aplikasi Isotop dan Radiasi-Badan Tenaga Nuklir Nasional (PAIR - BATAN), Jakarta. Penanaman M1 dan M2 dilaksanakan di BPTP Sumatera Utara. Dari hasil pengamatan persentase tumbuh bibit, tinggi tanaman dan panjang akar pada fase pembibitan, dan persentase kehampaan gabah pada tanaman M1 diperoleh dosis iradiasi 200 - 300 Gy merupakan dosis yang efektif dalam menghasilkan keragaman genetik. Hal ini juga terlihat pada populasi tanaman M2 hasil iradiasi 200 Gy menghasilkan jumlah mutasi klorofil yang tergolong luas dengan 8 macam tipe mutasi dari 8 tipe, yaitu albina, xhanta, viridis, tigrina, spotting leaf, alboviridis, marginata, dan striata. Juga menghasilkan keragaman genetik yang luas pada variabel karakter tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan produktif dan umur panen. Hasil seleksi yang dilakukan pada populasi M2 diperoleh kandidat mutan genjah sebanyak 69 kandidat dengan frekuensi mutasi sebesar 1,09%. Tanaman genjah dan postur pendek (dwarf)/semi-pendek (semidwarf)  terseleksi tentu akan sangat berguna sebagai bahan tanaman awal dalam perbaikan varietas padi beras merah dalam program pemuliaan tanaman ke depan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberdayakan petani menjadi produsen bibit kentang unggul bermutu tinggi melalui alih teknologi bioseluler (kultur jaringan tanaman), sehingga petani dapat memenuhi kebutuhan bibitnya sendiri. Melalui kemampuannya untuk memproduksi bibit kentang bermutu, maka akan tercipta kegiatan di sektor penangkaran bibit kentang dan dapat meningkatkan pendapatan petani. Kegiatan terdiri atas tiga subprogram. Subprog¬ram pertama adalah produksi dan distribusi propagul kentang (umbi mini/G0) kepada petani penangkar (tahun pertama). Subprogram kedua adalah produksi umbi propagul kentang G1 – G2 (Tahun kedua dan ketiga). Subprogram ketiga adalah sosialisasi, pembinaan, dan demonstrasi plot (setiap tahun). Kegiatan ini merupakan kemitraan antara Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Andalas, Fakultas Pertanian UMMY Solok, Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Solok, dan Kelompok Tani Harapan Baru sebagai penggguna teknologi. Kegiatan yang sudah dilakukan pada Tahun I (2017): 1) perbanyakan planlet kentang, 2) pembuatan screen house untuk aklimatisasi dan produksi umbi G0/G1, 3) workshop/sosialisasi penangkaran benih kentang, 4) sekolah lapang produksi umbi kentang G0/G1, 5) pelatihan penguatan kelembagaan petani penangkar kentang, 6) pelatihan sertifikasi benih kentang, dan 7) pelatihan pembuatan pestisida hayati. Kata Kunci: Bibit kentang, Penangkar, Bioseluler ABSTRACT The purpose of this activity was to empower farmers to become producers of elite potato seeds through the transfer of bioseluler technology (plant tissue culture), so that farmers can meet the needs of their own seeds. Through its ability to produce quality potato seeds, it will create activities in the breeding sector of potato seeds and can increase farmers' income. The activity consists of three subprograms. The first subprogram was the production and distribution of potato propagules (mini tubers/G0) to the farmer breeder (first year). The second subprogram was the production of potato propagules G1 - G2 (second and third year). The third subprogram is socialization, guidance, and demonstration plots (every year). This activity was a partnership between the Faculty of Agriculture Andalas University, Faculty of Agriculture UMMY Solok, Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Solok, and Harapan Baru Farmer Group as a technology user. (1) propagation of potato plantlets, 2) screen house preparation for acclimatization and tuber production G0 / G1, 3) workshop / socialization of potato seed breeding, 4) field school of potato tuber production G0 / G1 , 5) training of institutional strengthening of potato breeder farmers, 6) certification training of potato seeds, and 7) training on making biological pesticides. Untuk itu diperlukan teknologi baru yang aplikatif dan adaptif yang mampu meningkatkan produksinya. Aplikasi teknologi perbanyakan dengan menggabungkan teknologi bioseluler (kultur jaringan) dan teknologi aeroponik merupakan cara yang dapat ditempuh untuk penyediaan bibit kentang bermutu yang lebih efisien. Di samping itu, gabungan kedua teknologi tersebut mampu menghasilkan benih kentang dalam waktu yang relatif singkat dengan jumlah mencapai 10 kali lipat dibandingkan teknik konvensional. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan dan mendeseminasikan teknologi bioseluler dan teknologi aeroponik kepada Kelompok Tani Harapan Baru di Nagari Alahan Panjang, Kecamatan Lembah Gumanti, Kabupaten Solok. Kata kunci: benih, kentang, degeneratif, bioseluler, aeroponik ABSTRACT Potato productivity in Indonesia is still constrained by the availability of quality seeds. Conventional potato breeding is limited by its low productivity. Therefore, new applicable and adaptive technologies are needed that can increase potato seed production. The application of propagation technology by combining biocellular technology (tissue culture) and aeroponic technology is a way that can be taken to provide quality potato seeds more efficiently. In addition, the combination of the two technologies is able to produce potato seeds in a relatively short time with the amount reaching 10 times compared to conventional techniques. The purpose of this activity is to introduce and disseminate biocellular technology and aeroponics technology to the Harapan Baru Farmer Group in Nagari Alahan Panjang, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency. Abstract

One of the factors causing the low productivity of rice in West Sumatra Province is quality seeds, which are still very low. Also, many rice varieties currently used have a low resistance to pests and diseases, particularly the leafhoppers, which currently attack rice in West Sumatra. The National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) is one of the institutions that produce new rice varieties through mutation technology, one of the varieties produced in the Kahayan variety. Kahayan varieties have several advantages over the previous varieties, namely early age, high productivity, and resistance to certain pests and plant diseases. This activity aims to disseminate the breeding of Kahayan rice seeds to breeding farmer groups so that they can fulfill their needs for rice seeds independently. The activity was carried out at the Air Sarasah Farmer Group in Nagari Sungai Batang, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, from November 2019 to March 2020. The activity consisted of disseminating breeding activities, implementing Kahayan rice breeding, and assisting Kahayan rice varieties' breeding. From this activity, farmer groups have been able to better breed rice, according to the operational standards for seed breeding set by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia. Also, farmer groups have been able to increase their knowledge of certifying rice seeds. From the results of rice seed breeding, it was obtained that the Kahayan rice seed class Basic Seed (BD) yield was 6.1 tonnes/hectare, which exceeded the national average rice yield, namely in 2018, it was 5.2 tonnes/hectare.
