Abstract

The quality of Indonesia's education in the international rankings is ranked low compared to other countries. On the other hand Indonesia has the potential of nature that can be utilized as a learning method that is with the natural school with nature as a medium of teaching. The use of biophilic design theory becomes important in order to create a natural school environment that can support a good learning atmosphere for learners later. This study aims to determine how appropriate design criteria for designing a planned natural school with biophilic design theory are used. The method used is to study the literacy of the theory and determine the appropriate theory to be used in the design strategy ranging from site selection, site processing, space processing and space quality, mass formation and mass management, and determining the appearance of buildings. Biophilic design design method and process of analysis that is done to produce natural school design design that can optimize the learning process in it.

Abstract

Transportation is activity of people and goods in moving from one place to another place. Good transportation must be supported by good infrastructures. Transportation infrastructures consist of road, bus stop, bus terminal, rail road, train station, and airport. Bus terminal is one infrastructure which had by every city in Indonesia. Redesigning Tirtonadi Bus Terminal Surakarta is built upon the existing condition of Tirtonadi Bus Terminal in 2013 and the final result of Tirtonadi Bus Terminal development that is not appropriate with Green Terminal concept chosen by the management  and the Local Government of Surakarta. This redesign is aimed to obtain appropriate Green Terminal design to change the dirty and polluting image of the bus terminal. The main problem of this design is how to redesign Tirtonadi Bus Station Surakarta by applying Green Terminal Principles. The approach used in  this deisgn is Green Terminal principles, they are: ecofriendly builing, eficiency of energy, air quality, water conservation, security, and renewable natural recources management. The result of redesign is Tirtonadi Bus Terminal Surakarta with appropriate Green Terminal concept that the station can be more safe and convenient for the visitors and the building can maintain harmony between architecture and surrounding environment. Keywords: Architecture, Transportation, Redesigning, Bus Terminal, Green Terminal

Abstract

Women and Children Hospital is an useful healthcare facility to improve the health of Indonesian people especially for women, mothers and children. The lack of adequate health facilities in Indonesia for mothers and children, especially in the city of Solo, makes the number of health cases concerning them are still poorly handled and thorough. Therefore, it needs a special health facility that handles the problem, namely Women and Children Hospital with concept that can solve the problem. The appropriate theory for solving the problem is the Physical Outcome Theory (derived from the concept of Healing Environment). That theory serves to help patients in the hospital, to feel comfortable and safe to be treated in it. The research method used is applied research, through the exploration of initial ideas and data collection which then concluded to be a guide in the design analysis. The results of Physical Outcome Theory implementation in buildings, realized through the processing siteplan design, building facade, interiors, and exteriors.

Abstract

Bus terminal and railway station’s planning and designing in Depok motivated by the government's plan in realizing an integrated transportation in this city. The need of bus terminal and train station’s integration is to easily facilitate the movement and displacement modes for the user of transportation mode (commuter) especially in Depok City. Design issues found is that how can the circulatory sistem be able to facilitate the movement and displacement modes for commuters, that are efficient, swift, and safe, also accommodated its building system. The design method used the concept of wayfinding. The application of wayfinding concept is able to resolve the design issues such as the design of circulatory sistem, which are efficient, swift, and safe, also accommodated its building system. In the wayfinding concept, users are the main concern, specifically on the movement and displacement towards a mode. According to the wayfinding concept, the problem solving is that the users make and execute the decision, also know and understand their environment. It influences the design of wayfinding with circulation planning and space layout, also the information design, in order to reach the success of wayfinding design which are efficient, swift, and safe, and accommodated its building system.

Abstract

ASEAN Economy Community is a great opportunity for each country in ASEAN to expand its economy. These opportunities are not only related to trade market, but also in services market, experts, investment and capital flows. However behind these opportunities, not a few countries in ASEAN respond the open market or free market of ASEAN become a threat. Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (Bekraf) was established as a government effort to overcome ASEAN free market, which creative economy is Indonesia economy focus nowadays. Since was establishes at early 2015, Bekraf has been quite instrumental in moving the creative economy in Indonesia. Headquarter planning becomes important not only to facilitate Bekraf, but also supports the development of creative economy in Indonesia to compete in the free market of ASEAN. But now in the planning and design issues have become more widespread, namely environmental problems. Jakarta as government center, the location of the site is a crowded city, have limited land, little green open space, and a variety of other environmental problems. These conditions make the construction of new buildings in Jakarta becomes irrelevant.  Sustainable Architecture approach is right solution because this approach has the ability to address environmental issues with sustainable resources which aims to improve the quality of the natural and human. The problem in this design is how to present principle of Sustainable Architecture at office and commercial building typology. Planning and design Bekraf Headquarter use connectivity, indigenous, and long life, loose fit methods which are three principle of Sustainable Architecture. Design applications of Sustainable Architecture at Bekraf Headquarter processed through strategy of Sustainable Architecture, those are sustainable land use, sustainable material, sustainable energy, sustainable water, sustainable health and well-being, and sustainable community. The strategy of Sustainable Architecture building design embodies a minimal pavement at the site, the contours of landscape, using modular and renewable materials, rosters design and mass openness to optimize cross ventilation and natural lighting, wastewater treatment pond design, structuring elements of vegetation, accessibility design, building automation systems, as well as the design of corridors into public spaces. Keywords: Badan Ekonomi Kreatif, Connectivity, Creative Economy, Indigenous, Long Life, Loose Fit, Sustainable Architecture
