Abstract

Swasembada gula 2014 dapat dicapai jika terdapat peningkatan potensi bobot dan rendemen tebu di lahan.Potensi tebu optimal jika berasal dari sumber benih yang optimal. Sumber benih yang optimal dapat diperolaeh dari teknik kultur jaringan. Benih hasil kultur jaringan terbebas dari hama penyakit. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh varietas dan jarak tanam terhadap karakteristik agronomi tebu hasil kultur jaringan. Penelitian disusun menurut percobaan berfaktor 4x3 dengan tiga ulangan menggunakan rancangan Split Plot Design (Rancangan Petak Terbagi).Dua faktor perlakuan yang diuji yaitu jarak tanam (P) dan varietas (V) tebu.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jarak tanam optimal untuk tanam tebu yaitu (100 x 50) cm. Varietas yang berpotensi untuk menghasilkan rendemen optimum adalah PS 881. Varietas yang berpotensi memberikan tonase optimum yaitu PS 862.Kata kunci :  Benih, kultur jaringan, varietas, mata tunas.

Abstract

Chrysanthemum plants besides being used as ornamental plants and cut flowers can also be useful in the world of health, namely as herbal tea. The parts of the plants used are leaves, flowers or both at once. The addition of different light colors in chrysanthemum plants is expected to improve the quality of chrysanthemum tea by increasing antioxidant compounds in chrysanthemum leaves. This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of different light colors on the growth and content of antioxidant compounds in the leaves of these plants. This research using Complete Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4levels with 5 replications. The treatments given were 4 different colors namely white (W1), red (W2), yellow (W3), blue (W4). Observation data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), if there was a significant difference, then Duncan's Multiple Distance Test was conducted at 95% confidence level. The addition of different light colors had a very significant effect on total fresh weight, leaf fresh weight, fresh weight of stover and antioxidant activity then significantly affected plant height, total dry weight, leaf dry weight and dry weight of stover. But the number of leaves shows an unreal effect. The results showed that the addition of blue and yellow light colors had the highest effect on the content of antioxidant compounds.

Abstract

Local maize plants have prospects to be developed in line with the increasing demand and level of community consumption. One of the local varieties of maize, the Talango variety, has the advantages of early maturity of 75 days, long shelf life, high yield of maize and cheap seed prices. The nutritional content of the Talango variety is higher than that of hybrid maize, such as 11.24% protein, 4.96% fat and 75.6% carbohydrates. This study were to determine the best dose of selenium to growth and yield of local maize (Zea mays L.) Talango varieties. This study used Randomized Block Design (RBD) one factor consisting A0 = 0 µm, A1 = 5 µm, A2 = 10 µm, A3 = 15 µm, A4 = 20 µm, A5 = 25 µm, A6 = 30 µm, A7 = 35 µm, A8 = 40 µm, A9 = 45 µm. Each treatment will be repeated 4 times so that there are total 40 experimental units. The research variebles included plant height, root wet weight, shoot wet weight, total wet weight, flowering age, seed weight and 100 seed weight. The data obtained will be analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result will be analyzed using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) level of α 5% to compare the effect between treatments on plant yield. The treatment of selenium (Se) doses at different levels had a positive effect on increasing the observed variables of root fresh weight, shoot fresh weight, total fresh weight, flowering age, seed weight per plant and 100 seed plant weights. The results showed that the Se treatment with doses of 20 μM to 25 μM and 35 μM to 40 μM produced the best seed weight per plant in the range of 59.25 g – 79.84 g which was significantly different from the control and other treatment doses. Abstract

Cactus and succulents have promising potential as a mini garden in terms of beautification scenery function and economy. This program's dedication to partner of the programme is students of Pondok Pesantren Nurul Isman (PP NURIS) Jember, a group of Masdrasah Sain (M-Sain). The partner problem was the students have not known yet about cactus and succulent benefits, agriculture, nursing, and entrepreneurship. One of them is the creation of a mini garden that has high economic value. The program's dedications to partner of the programme objectives were to increase student's knowledge about the benefits, propagation, and nursery of cactus and succulents; and to motivate entrepreneurial spirit. The methods that were used subsequently: were problem identification and solutions, giving presentations, propagation practices, nursery, and technique of cactus and mini garden. As a result, students actively got motivated and participated in every phase from giving presentations to making the mini garden. In conclusion, there was increasing in student knowledge about benefits, propagation, the nursery of cactus and succulents, and mini gardens production.
