Abstract

Guru sebagai salah satu unsur dalam pembelajaran diharapkan dapat terus meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. Evaluasi, refleksi dan perbaikan proses pembelajaran perlu dilakukan sehingga tujuan pembelajaran tercapai. Perbaikan pembelajaran dilakukan berdasarkan masalah-masalah yang ditemui guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis masalah-masalah dalam pembelajaran menurut perspektif guru biologi di Salatiga dan Kabupaten Semarang. Responden adalah 23 guru biologi yang tersebar di SMA Salatiga dan Kabupaten Semarang. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah melalui  kuesioner dan wawancara. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dan dideskripsikan secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan masalah pembelajaran menurut guru biologi dapat dikelompokkan sebagai berikut: 1) masalah berkaitan dari faktor siswa, 2) sarana dan prasarana, 3) materi pembelajaran, 4) faktor guru, 5) faktor kondisi keluarga siswa. Teachers as one of the elements in learning are expected to continue to improve the quality of learning. Evaluation, reflection, and improvement of the learning process need to be carried out so that learning objectives are achieved. Improvement of learning is done based on the problems encountered by the teacher. This study aimed to analyze problems in learning according to the perspective of biology teachers in Salatiga and Semarang Regency. Respondents were 23 biology teachers spread in Salatiga High School and Semarang Regency. Data collection techniques were through questionnaires and interviews. The data obtained were analyzed and described qualitatively. The results showed that learning problems according to biology teachers can be grouped as follows: 1) problems related to student factors, 2) facilities and infrastructure, 3) learning material, 4) teacher factors, 5) factors in the family condition of students.

Abstract

Abstract. This researchs were conducted in Salatiga primary high school, Central Java and the subject of were taken from 23 science teachers which used interview and observation tech-niques. The aim of this study was firstly, to assess learning strategies of science in Salatiga prima-ry high school, and secondly to assess the obstacles and constraints that faced the science teach-ers in the implementation of learning strategies in the classroom. Further more the percentage of the understanding and application of mind map model, and also to assess the obstacles and con-straints in the implementation of mind map in the classroom. Data were analyzed by using de-scriptive qualitative method. The results showed that the percentage of science teachers using discussion methods are 78.26%, 21.74% by concept maps, 30.43% by demonstrations, 39.13% by lectures, 34.78% using mind map respectively by other strategies such as card games, quiz, pro-ject based learning, discovery, problem based learning, contextual teaching learning, and inquiry is 43,8%. Teachers faced difficulty to allocate the time in the classroom because students who had lower levels of cognitive abilities require a longer time to understand the strategies in the class-room. The percentage of teachers using mind map in teaching only reach at 34.78%, while 65.22% teachers still not applying yet. Results of interview which were conducted approximately 47.83% to the teachers who understand the learning mechanisms model of mind map, and 52.17% did not understand the principles of learning using mind map. However, in its application in the classroom teachers face some problems, for example, it is take time to implemented, and the other subjects difficult to finished on time. More over, other constraints that faced are the students still have difficulty in making mind map because lack of exercise, as well as students who are already familiar with the habit pattern of teacher using teaching center.Abstrak. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Salatiga, Jawa Tengah dengan subjek penelitan adalah guru bidang studi IPA yang berjumlah 23 orang dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara dan observasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendata strategi pembelajaran IPA yang dilakukan guru SMP Kota Salatiga, kendala yang dihadapi guru dalam melaksanakan strategi pembelajaran di kelas, persentase pemahaman dan penerapan mind map oleh guru IPA SMP Kota Salatiga, serta kendala dalam melaksanakan strategi mind map di kelas. Analisis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil menunjukkan persentase guru IPA yang menggunakan strategi diskusi mencapai 78.26%, peta konsep 21,74%, demonstrasi 30,43%, ce-ramah 39,13%, mind map 34,78% dan strategi-strategi lain seperti permainan kartu, cerdas cer-mat, project based learning, discovery, problem based learning, CTL, inquiry mencapai 43,8%. Dalam menerapkan strategi yang bervariasi guru mengalami kesulitan dalam mengatur alokasi waktu pembelajaran di kelas dikarenakan peserta didik yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan kogni-tif rendah membutuhkan waktu yang lebih lama untuk memahami strategi pembelajaran yang dipakai di kelas. Dalam penerapan mind map, menunjukkan persentase jumlah guru yang menggunakan mind map dalam pembelajaran di SMP Kota Salatiga hanya mencapai 34,78% dan yang masih belum menerapkan pembelajaran model mind map mencapai 65,22%. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara diketahui bahwa sekitar 47,83% guru tersebut memahami prosedur pembelajaranmodel mind map, selebihnya sebesar 52,17% mengatakan belum memahami prinsip pembelajaran menggunakan mind map. Guru menjelaskan bahwa mind map sangat potensial digunakan se-bagai suatu teknik untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran peserta didik. Meskipun demikian, dalam penerapannya di kelas guru mengalami kendala dalam pengaplikasian mind map, misalnya dibu-tuhkan waktu yang cukup lama untuk menerapkan mind map sehingga materi lainnya tidak dapat diselesaikan tepat waktu. Selain itu, kendala lain seperti siswa masih kesulitan dalam membuat mind map dikarenakan kurang latihan, serta siswa yang sudah terbiasa dengan kebiasaan pola pengajaran teacher center sehingga model mind map ini dianggap sulit bagi siswa.

Abstract

Abstract. Learning style is one of the important factors  needed to absorb, store and process the new information. This research is a study to see the profile and percentage of studenst learning styles of SWCU Biology Education students and the influence of different learning styles on the GPA obtained. Researcher got the data of  students’ learning styles by using questionnaire.  The statistical procedures employed in this study were one-way ANOVA. The results showed  that the largest percentage of learning styles that were used  by the students of biology education were auditory learning styles by 32% and the VAK (Visual Auditory Kinesthetic) learning style was the least used by education students by 2%. The analysis of the percentage of learning styles showed that 72% of students with auditory learning styles reached a satisfactory category until magna cum laude, but the percentage of students that used VAK (Visual Auditory Kinesthetic ) learning styles only reached satisfying GPA level. Statistical test results in this study demonstrated that the use of learning styles did not give significantly different effect on the students’ GPA.Keywords: Personal Learning Styles, Grade Point Average  Abstrak. Gaya belajar adalah salah satu faktor penting yang diperlukan untuk menyerap, menyimpan dan memproses informasi baru. Penelitian ini adalah suatu penelitian untuk melihat profil dan persentase gaya belajar mahasiswa pendidikan biologi UKSW serta pengaruh gaya belajar yang berbeda terhadap indeks prestasi kumulatif yang diperoleh. Peneliti mendapatkan data gaya belajar mahasiswa dengan menggunakan kuesoner (angket). Prosedur statistik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah one way ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan  bahwa persentase gaya belajar terbesar yang digunakan mahasiswa pendidikan biologi untuk belajar adalah gaya belajar auditorik sebanyak 32%, Persentase gaya belajar yang paling sedikit digunakan oleh mahasiswa pendidikan adalah gaya belajar VAK (Visual Auditorik Kinestetik) sebanyak 2%. Analisis persentase gaya belajar menunjukkan persentase mahasiswa pendidikan biologi dengan gaya belajar auditorik adalah yang terbanyak memiliki IPK yang termasuk dalam kategori memuaskan sampai magna cum laude sebesar 72%, namun ternyata persentase mahasiswa dengan gaya belajar VAK (Visual Auditorik Kinestetik) tidak mencapai IPK memuaskan, dan hanya mencapai level kurang. Hasil uji statistik dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan penggunaan gaya belajar tidak memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda secara signifikan terhadap indeks prestasi kumulatif mahasiswa.Kata Kunci : Gaya Belajar, Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif

Abstract

The scientific approach is strongly suggested to be used in implementing “Curriculum of 2013” (K13) by Department of Education. This study aimed to identify whether integrated science learning was implemented in Junior High Schools in the Semarang Regency, Indonesia used a scientific approach, how it was implemented, and what problems that emerged in it. This research was conducted in 13 Junior High Schools in Semarang Regency, Central Java Province that implemented K13 during the odd semester in 2016/2017 school year by interviewing the science teachers in each school to determine how scientific approach was implemented in their schools. Based on the interview results analyzed using qualitative description methods, K13 was implemented, teachers used a scientific approach to teach science subject in their classes, and they integrated science materials in the curriculum. However, not all of the science materials were able to be integrated and taught using scientific approach because the teachers’ educational background is not from science education. Furthermore, the availability of the teachers and students books, the laboratory facilities, and funds were very limited. Many solutions such as using various learning models were done, but they were not be able to maximize the learning even though the students were active and enthusiastic in learning. Therefore, the teachers really need real supports to enhance their learning using scientific approach.Keywords: integrated science learning, scientific approach, curriculum of 2013, junior high school

Abstract

This research is a mixed study (quantitative-qualitative) that examines learning theories to support the PQDiS-CSR learning model in biology and science learning and tests the validation of the PQDiS-CSR learning model based on survey result from FGD participants. The research subjects are biology and science teachers as well as education experts from Indonesia through FGD (focus group discussion) activities. The results of the study show that there are three learning theories that support this learning model; behaviorism learning theory, constructivism, and information processing systems. he results of the validity test on the development of learning models based on the results of the survey from FGD participants were 4.36 categorized as valid and usable.

Abstract

This study is a type of an action class study. The purpose of this researches are used to apply the discovery learning model and smart case strategy in order to improve students’ cognitive learning results and to find out the improvement of students’ affective and psychomotor learning results by applying the discovery learning model and smart case strategy.  There were 21 students in VII C Class of SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga used as the samples. The instrument of this research is observation sheets, questionnaires and tests. The descriptive analysis was employed in this study. The results of the cognitive learning result in cycle one show that the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) of 75 is 57,14% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. The students’ psychomotor minimum criteria with a good minimum score (≥ 20) in cycle one reaches 90,47% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. The students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria with a good minimum score (≥ 16) in cycle one is 87,71% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. Based on the results of this study, it is proven that the discovery learning model and smart case game could improve the students’ learning results and to train them to be skillful, active, and independent. Moreover, the students’ curiosity about the materials is so high that it will assist them in improving their learning results.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to improve the cognitive learning results and students’ learning motivation through the discovery learning model and bowling campus strategy, as well as applying the discovery learning model and bowling campus strategy in the energy material. This study was done in SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga by using the students from Class VII A as the subjects. The study used some instruments such as observation sheets, questionnaires and tests. The descriptive analysis was employed in this study. The results of this study show that the percentage of the students’ cognitive learning results fulfilling the 75 competence standard (KKM) in cycle I is 52,38% and it becomes 85,71% in cycle II. The observation result of the students’ learning motivation in cycle I is 76, 19% students achieving good minimum category and it becomes 100% students achieving good minimum category. Based on the students’ perception data about their motivation, there are 100% students in cycle I and II achieving the good minimum category.  The results of applying the discovery learning model and bowling campus strategy are capable to make the students to be more active in the learning process, to improve their motivation during the learning process, to facilitate them to comprehend the material concept and to review the materials in order to improve their cognitive learning results.                    Keywords: Discovery Learning, Bowling Campus Strategy, Learning and Motivation Results

Abstract

ABSTRACT                 The purpose of this study is to find out the active learning application based on project assignment in improving science learning results of students in VII B class of SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga and to find out the improvement of the science learning results of students in VII B class of SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga throuh applying the active learning based on the project assignment. This study was done in SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga by using 21 students in this school as the subjects. The method applied in this study is the descriptive analysis method with the data collection instruments such as questionnaires, pbservation sheets and interview. The results of this study show that the active learning model based on the project assignment could improve students’ cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning results. Based on the students’ cognitive learning results, the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) in cycle 1 is 66.67% and it improves into 90.47% in cycle 2. Based on the students’ psychomotor learning results, the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) with a good criterion (≥ 25) in cycle 1 is 76.19% and it improves into 100% in cycle 2. Based on the students’ affective learning results, the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) with a good criterion (≥ 25) in cycle 1 is 80.95% and it improves into 100% in cycle 2.Keywords : Active Learning Based on Project Assignment, Learning Results

Abstract

Metacognition is thinking skill about thinking. Metacognitive awareness plays an important role in achieving success of the learning process. The aim of this research was to determine the metacognitive awareness profile of X class high school students in Salatiga. This research was used descriptive quantitative with the technique of determining the subject by purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out in a survey with the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) instrument by applying a Likert scale. Based on the results of the research, the knowledge dimension with indicator for declarative knowledge was 72.62%, procedural knowledge was 72.13%, and conditional knowledge was 75.98%. Regulatory dimensions such as; planning indicators reached 74.19%, information management strategies only 64.44%, comprehension monitoring 72.01%, debugging strategies 72.87%, and evaluation 74.90%. The average percentage of metacognitive awareness of X class high school students in Salatiga for each indicator is 72.91%. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded here were several metacognitive awareness survey results whose percentages were below 50%.
