Abstract

Abstract: The aims of this research are to describe the thinking process of junior high school students with type of climber, camper, and quitter in solving mathematics problems based on Polya’s rule. This was a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of this research were taken by using a combined technique of stratified sampling and purposive sampling. The subjects of this research were three 9th grade student of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten Karanganyar regency, which consists of astudent with climber’s type, a student with camper’s type, and a student with quitter’s type. The data collection in this research was conducted through questionnaires and task-based interview technique whichwereused in the subject matter of two variable linear equation system.Thedata validationtechnique used triangulationof time andreferences. The data was analyzed by usingMiles and Huberman’s concept, that was data’s reduction, data’s presentation, and conclusion. The result of this research showed that (1) climber’s student used assimilation thinking process in understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back the answer, (2) camper’s student used assimilation thinking process in understanding the problem, carrying out the plan, and looking back the answer, student used assimilation and accomodation thinking process in devising a plan, and (3) quitter’s student used imperfection assimilation and accomodation thinking process in understanding the problem, student didn’t use assimilation and accomodation thinking process in devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back the answer. Keywords: thinking process, problem solving, Polya’s rule, Adversity Quotient (AQ)

Abstract

This research entitled Development of Mathematics Based Module of Ethnomathematics using Inkuiri method. This study aims to find out how the development of mathematics learning module based on ethnomathematics using inquiry method, and to know the teacher and student response to the development of mathematics learning module based on ethnomathematics using inquiry method. This research method is Research and Development (R&D) using 4D model. Based on the results of the validation of stage 1 by the material experts obtained a cumulative average of 65.36% with the criteria of "good enough" which means that there is an improvement of some aspects contained in the module. After performing a series of revisions, the average score of cumulative of 84.02% validation with "good" criterion was obtained, so there is no revision of the module. The average score of cumulative validation of stage 1 by a media expert is 60% with a "good enough" code which means that it needs to be revised in some parts of the module. In the second stage of validation, the average cultivation is 86.66% with "very good" criteria so that the module is valid and ready for a field trial. From the results of research teacher response to the module obtained an average of 86.15% with the criteria "very interesting". In the small group trial, the average of 85% was obtained with interesting criteria and large group trial obtained an average of 87.28% with very interesting criteria so that the module is feasible and ready to be used as teaching materials.

Abstract

This study aims to produce teaching materials in the form of LKPD mathematics with the matter of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) Comparative material for students of class VII SMP. This research uses Research and Development (R & D) method with 4D (Four D Model) development model from Thiagarajan, Dorothy S. Semmel, and Melvyn I. Semmel namely, Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate. Data collection techniques used are qualitative and quantitative analysis. Validation is done by material experts and media experts. The trials were conducted through two stages, namely, limited trials and field trials. The results of the first stage validation by the material expert obtained an average percentage of 63% with the criteria of "good enough" means the need for improvement of several aspects in LKPD. In the second stage of validation obtained an average percentage of 85% with the criteria of "very good", so there is no revision of LKPD. The result of 1st stage validation by media expert is 72% with the criteria "good enough" which means that it needs to be revised in some parts of LKPD. In the second stage of validation obtained an average percentage of 90% with the criteria of "very good" so that LKPD is said to be valid and ready for use in field trials. The results of the limited trial of class VII students obtained an average percentage of 85% with very good criteria and field trials grade VII learners obtain an average percentage of 90% with very good criteria so that LKPD feasible and ready for use as teaching materials.
