Abstract

Indonesia which is a net-exporter in of fuel oil has turn become a net importer of oil since 2009. It is ironic because it occurs at the worlds oil price is unstable and tends to increase. It is time for Indonesia to develop alternative energy sources and bio-diesel oil from the seeds of  nyamplung (Calophylum inophylum L.). The purpose of this researh was to determine the magnitude of the yield of oil from the seeds of the produced by the level of maturity. The raw and the riped yamplung seeds was used in this research. The results showed that the yield of oil in ripe seed is 24.01% and the raw one is 19.17% . Acid number and iodine number of oil based on the average maturity are 37.51 g / ml and 3094.14 g / ml for the ripe fruit, and 37.18 g / ml and 3421.32 g / ml for the raw fruit.Keywords: nyamplung, maturity, yield, oil, fuel.

Abstract

The need of log increace rapidly, mean while forest product decrease, so efficiency on wood process should be done wisely, in the other hand plastic waste is uncompossed material, become an environmental problems. This research aims to determine the impact of particles of type HDPE plastic wastes and twigs/branches of rubber on some physical and mechanical properties of wood. Physical properties have been tested for water content, density, thickness, and water absorption. Although mechanical properties tests were tough Broken/Module of Rufture (MOR) and the preservation of architecture/modulus of elasticity (MOE).     The raw materials used are polyethylene of high density of waste plastic and rubber adhesive urea formaldehyde branch branch. Experimental design used the randomized Completely Design (RCD) 5 x 4, in which each treatment became much like 5 times replicated).The treatment used is the diversity of the composition of the waste of plastic of different types of polyethylene of high density provides a significant effect on the content of water, water absorption, the density and the development of thickness. With regard to the persistence and the fracture of the arch determination not to give a significant effect.Keywords: physical and mechanical properties, particle board, HDPE plastic waste, branch/twig of  rubber.

Abstract

The rice husk waste often becomes a problem for people in Tatah Makmur district. The mountainous of a stack of rice husk has not been utilized by farmers as a useful material. The science activities for the people aimed to provide knowledge about the utilization of rice husk waste into a charcoal husk, biobricket, and bokashi. The target people of this program are Kelompok Tani Bina Desa Jaya RT. 07 and Yasinan Group RT. 06 in Tatah Makmur district. The types of outcomes generated through the science activities of the people are biobricket and bokashi. The socialization, counseling, and training activities were held from May to October 2015 in Pemangkih Village, Tatah Makmur district, South Kalimantan. The people in the village enthusiastically participated in extension activities as they gained knowledge about the making of bokashi and biobricket so that it can reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and wood fuels. The science activities for this people can solve the problems of the farmers in the utilization of rice husk waste and at the same time can overcome the farmers’ difficulties in obtaining organic fertilizer.

Abstract

The community partnership program for making organic planting pots aims to provide knowledge and technology on using waste from rice husks into eco-friendly organic planting pot products and train people in making these pots. Partners in the program are the Bina Desa Farmer Group in Pemangkih Village Tatah Makmur District Banjar Regency. The activity method is socialization/counseling, training, and assistance to partners. The community partnership program was implemented from May to September 2020 through meetings with the community partners who continue to apply the Covid-19 Protocol, resulting in organic planting pot products, publications in the mass media, video activities on YouTube, and scientific articles. Partners' knowledge increased between 76.47-94.12% after extension activities training on making organic planting pots.

Abstract

Briket arang pengusir nyamuk dan briket aromaterapi merupakan inovasi terbaru untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah dari briket arang. Selama ini pemanfaatan briket arang hanya terbatas sebagai energi alternatif terbarukan. Briket arang pengusir nyamuk merupakan campuran serbuk arang alaban dengan tumbuhan serai wangi dan cengkeh, sedangkan briket aromaterapi merupakan campuran serbuk arang alaban dengan serbuk Gaharu. Kegiatan program kemitraan masyarakat (PKM) bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat untuk membuat briket arang pengusir nyamuk dari serai wangi dan cengkeh serta briket arang aromaterapi dari serbuk gaharu yang berguna untuk kesehatan. Mitra kegiatan PKM ini adalah kelompok masyarakat RT. 3 dan kelompok masyarakat RT. 4 Desa Mandiangin Barat, Kabupaten Banjar, Kalimantan Selatan. Penyampaian materi kegiatan melalui penyuluhan, dan pelatihan pembuatan briket pengusir nyamuk dan briket aromaterapi. Masyarakat yang menjadi mitra memberikan respon positif terhadap kegiatan yang dilaksanakan oleh Tim Pelaksana PKM Fakultas Kehutanan Universitas Lambung Mangkurat.

Abstract

The Yasinan Arraudah group consists of women who work as traders, catering services, and housewives. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has affected partners, namely a decrease in sales turnover until the closure of businesses for members who work as traders or catering services. The implementation team of the Community Partnership Program provides the right solution for business opportunities in the new normal era, namely making healthy pastries made from brown rice flour and sago flour. The selection of local brown rice flour and sago flour to support the government's efforts in accelerating the diversification of food consumption based on local resources and reducing dependence on wheat flour. The problem faced by partners is the lack of knowledge about how to make modern pastries from local brown rice and sago which is healthy and hygienic and does not have the equipment, availability of raw materials, packaging methods and product marketing methods. The method of activity is in the form of counseling, training in making pastries, assistance to activity partners and program evaluation. The results of the counseling and training activities showed that 80% of the participants were able to make modern pastries made from brown rice and sago, namely Nastar Beras Merah, Cookies Susu Wijen, Kuker Sagu, and Selai Cookies. The outputs produced in the Community Partnership Program activities are in the form of contemporary pastries, publications in mass media, activity videos on YouTube and scientific articles.Keywords: contemporary pastries, food diversification, local brown rice, and sago

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical characteristics of the alaban type charcoal, the compressed type and the type of bacin. After testing SNI 01-6235-2000 of the 3 types of charcoal, the results for each characteristic are not the same and some do not meet the standard requirements. The method used to make wood charcoal uses the ground hole method. The three materials used are plants that are very much found in the Karang Intan District area, especially in the area of the Gunung Babaris and Mount Waringin Forest groups. The research was conducted to determine the physical characteristics of charcoal including moisture content, ash content, flight substance content, bonded carbon content and calorific value according to the quality standard of SNI 01-6235-2000. The results showed that the moisture content was still above 8% (not fulfilling the SNI standard), the ash content was below 8% (fulfilled the SNI standard), the flying substance content was below 15% (met SNI standards), above 30% (meet the SNI standard) and a calorific value above 5000 Kal / g (meet the SNI standard only for alaban charcoal, the other two types do not meet the SNI standard). The best calorific value is alaban charcoal, which is 5.076.96 Cal / gPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik sifat fisik arang jenis alaban, jenis mampat dan jenis Bati-bati. Setelah dilakukan pengujian SNI 01-6235-2000 dari 3 jenis arang hasilnya untuk tiap karakteristik tidak sama dan ada yang tidak memenuhi persyaratan standar. Metode yang dipakai untuk pembuatan arang kayu menggunakan metode lubang tanah. Ketiga bahan digunakan adalah tanaman yang sangat banyak ditemui di wilayah Kecamatan Karang Intan, terutama pada area kelompok Hutan Gunung Babaris dan Gunung Waringin. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik sifat fisik arang meliputi kadar air, kadar abu, kandungan zat hilang, kandungan karbon terikat dan nilai kalor sesuai standar mutu SNI 01-6235-2000. Menghasilkan nilai kadar kelembaban masih di atas 8% (belum memenuhi norma SNI), kadar debris di bawah 8% (memenuhi standar SNI), kandungan zat hilang di bawah 15% (memenuhi standar SNI), kandungan karbon terikat di atas 30% (memenuhi pedoman SNI) dan nilai kalori di atas 5000 Kal / g (memenuhi pedoman SNI hanya untuk arang alaban, dua jenis lainnya tidak memenuhi pedoman SNI). Nilai kalori terbaik adalah arang alaban yaitu 5.076.96 Cal / g.

Abstract

Rubber wood waste from sawmills is in the form of powder which is still rarely used and usually for burning, in the sawmill industry the total waste is 50.8% of the raw material processed. Post-pruning oil palm fronds waste is also not widely used, where each hectare of oil palm plantations can produce as much as 486 tons of dry fronds and 17.1 tons of dry palm leaves / year. Based on these wastes, it can be used as raw material for biopelets. The quality of the biopellets produced from rubber wood sawdust combined with palm frond powder based on American standards (PFI), has obtained the recommended formulation, namely the ratio of 75% rubber wood powder powder and 25% rubber wood frond powder (Treatment B). With a density of 0.4909 g / cm3, a moisture content of 5.5625%, 77.7000% of flying substances, 11.6924% of bound carbon, 1.8100% of ash, and a calorific value of 4.067.63 cal / gLimbah kayu karet dari penggergajian berupa serbuk yang masih jarang dimanfaatkan dan biasanya untuk di bakar, pada industri penggergajian total limbah sebesar 50,8% dari bahan baku yang diolah. Limbah pelepah kelapa sawit pasca pruning juga belum banyak dimanfaatkan, yang setiap hektarnya kebun sawit dapat menghasilkan sebanyak 486 ton pelepah kering dan 17,1 ton daun sawit kering/tahun. Berdasarkan dari limbah-limbah tersebut sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi bahan baku biopelet. Kualitas biopelet yang dihasilkan dari serbuk kayu karet yang dipadukan serbuk pelepah kelapa sawit berdasarkan standar Amerika (PFI), telah diperoleh formulasi yang direkomendasikan yaitu pada perbandingan serbuk 75% serbuk kayu karet dan 25% serbuk pelepah kayu karet (Perlakuan B). Dengan kerapatan 0,4909 g/cm3, kadar air 5,5625 %, kadar zat terbang 77,7000%, karbon terikat 11,6924% kadar abu 1,8100%, dan nilai kalor 4.067,63 kal/g
