Abstract

This study is aimed at describing the structure syllabus of the second semester of EnglishEducation of School of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas MuhammadiyahSurakarta in terms of the items to be taught and their sequence. The type of this study isdescriptive qualitative, the object of this study is the appropriateness of the structure syllabus ofthe second semester of English Education of School of Teacher Training and Education ofUniversitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, the data of this study are the items to be taught in thestructure syllabus of the second semester of English Education of School of Teacher Trainingand Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta taken from the structure curriculum ofthe second semester of English Education of School of Teacher Training and Education ofUniversitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, and they are collected by the document analysis. Thedata are analyzed qualitatively to recognize the items to be taught based on the CourseLearning Outcomes of teaching structure to the second semester students of English Educationof School of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta and thecriteria used as the basis of deciding them. Then, they are analyzed to recognize their sequencebased on the criteria used as the basis of deciding what sequence they have to be put. Thisstudy recognizes the appropriateness of the items to be taught in the structure syllabus of thesecond semester of English Education of School of Teacher Training and Education ofMuhammadiyah University of Surakarta, but one of them. Abstract

Language, culture, and society are three things that cannot be separated. The intertwining among them are reflected in halal bi halal tradition. This annually tradition mainly uses Javanese language as a main central of social communication. Two common codes that used by the participants in conducting the event are krama and ngoko. The participants when choosing the codes, of course, are influenced by the social factors. Dealing with this, the aim of this study is finding the language choices use and the factors that affect the participants selecting the codes. This ethnographic study used participant observation in collecting the data. Then, the collected data were analyzed by theory of social dimension proposed by Holmes. The results of the study showed that (1) the language choices use are (a) Javanese krama, (b) Javanese ngoko, (c) mixture of Javanese and Arabic, (d) mixture of Javanese, and Arabic, and Indonesian, and (e) Indonesian and Indonesian and (2) the factors that affect the language choices are (a) the social relationship of the participants, (b) the setting of the event, (c) the formality of the vent, and (d0 the function for the event. As a conclusion, code choices that happen in halal bi halal tradition are commonly affected by social factor or nonlinguistic factor.

Abstract

Writing lecturer has no enough knowledge as to the writing material development. He is usually as a writing material provider, not a writing material developer. This study is aimed at describing the weaknesses and the strengths of the writing materials used at the beginning semester of University of ex-Karesidenan Surakarta. The data are the teaching materials of writing used at it; collected by the document analysis, observation, and interview; and the step of analysis is data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The research result is that writing materials at the one of UMS belong to the point chosen from writing skill, belong to the writing skills, writing skill is learned after reading skill, and cannot be the base for learning the ones in the next semester; the ones at UNS can be the base for it, do not belong to the point chosen from it, some of which do not belong to them, and it is learned before it; and the ones at UNIVET, UNISRI and UNWIDA belong to the point chosen from it, cannot be the base for it, some of which do not belong to them, and it is learned before it.Keywords: writing skill, material

Abstract

A teaching method comprises the principles and methods used by teachers to enable student learning and it also has an important role in learning activities. In education, we will find many kinds of it. One of them that still used by the teachers is Question and Answer method. Based on the previous researches found in google scholar, this method is able to be conducted by online and nononline. Almost the results inform that the method is useful and has positive impacts for increasing the comprehension of the subjects. The writer’s research is not far different from the previous researches. The objective of this study is to increase the student’s achievement in sociolinguistics subject by using Question and Answer method based on SIMANTE application. The writer chose it due to the weaknesses of lecturing method. By this method is hoped that it will increase the student’s achievement at sociolinguistics subject. Action Research by using system management test (SIMANTE) application was selected as a method of teaching. Then tests become means of colleting the data. The collected data were analysed by using simple descriptive analysis by counting the increasing from before and after treatment. The results of the research are as follows: 1. Class average increases well, that is 60.3 before action, action in cycle I 69.25, and action in cycle II 74.25. 2. Individual acquisition also increases, 20, 36, and 40/ 3. Class acquisition increases too, 50%, 90%, and 100%.  4. Class category acquisition change, from unfinished to finished. The conclusion is by using SIMANTE application, the student’s achiement in sociolinguistics subject increases significally. Based on the results, the writer suggests that Question and Answer based on SIMANTE application is recommended for alternative method of teaching.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas media dan sumber pembelajaran yang harusdituliskan dalam Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) bahasaInggris SMP. Metodenya adalah bahwa mereka diberipengetahuan tentang penulisan media dan sumber pembelajarandalam RPP bahasa Inggris SMP, diberi pelatihan dalam menuliskanmedia dan sumber pembelajaran dalam RPP bahasa Inggris SMP, dandiberi umpan balik terhadap media dan sumber pembelajaran yangtelah mereka tuliskan dalam RPP bahasa Inggris SMP. Dalammenuliskannya,mereka belum dapat menyesuaikan media pembelajarantersebut dengan tujuan pembelajarannya, yaitu: beberapa mediapembelajaran yang tidak sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajarandituliskan dalam RPP tersebut, dan beberapa media pembelajaranyang harus sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran tidak dituliskan dalamRPP tersebut.Selain itu,sumber pembelajaran yang mereka tuliskanbelum lengkap.Kaidah penulisan media dan sumber pembelajaranmereka juga masih belum benar.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas alat penilaian yang harus dituliskan dalam Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) bahasa Inggris SMP. Metodenya adalah bahwa mereka diberi pengetahuan tentang penulisan alat penilaian dalam RPP bahasa Inggris SMP, diberi pelatihan dalam menuliskan alat penilaian dalam RPP bahasa Inggris SMP, dan diberi umpan balik terhadap alat penilaian yang telah mereka tuliskan dalam RPP bahasa Inggris SMP. Dalam menuliskannya,mereka belum dapat menyesuaikan alat penilaian tersebut dengan tujuan pembelajarannya, yaitu: beberapa alat penilaian yang tidak sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran dituliskan dalam RPP tersebut, dan beberapa alat penilaian yang harus sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran tidak dituliskan dalam RPP tersebut. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat tentang pelatihan dalam menuliskan alat penilaian dalam Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) bahasa Inggris SMP bagi para guru bahasa Inggris SMP Kabupaten Sukoharjo tepat untuk dilakukan agar supaya alat penilaian yang harus mereka tuliskan dalam RPP bahasa Inggris SMP tersebut sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran yang telah dirumuskan.

Abstract

Despite the various methods in delivering the subject of adjective clause, preference of the method and approach must be relevant to the objective the study. The objectives range from attitude, knowledge, and skill. In the learning process of adjective clause, the objective typesare affective and cognitive. Deductive approach is the most appropriate approach and homework-based learning is assumed to be relevant with the approach. Approach may be enclosed in the syllabus and the teachers have preferences to apply the most suitable approach. The approaches of teaching language emphasize on the theory of learning, how to learn and how to teach it. Applying the approach, an adjective clause theory starts with the presentation of the rule and it is followed by the practice. The procedure of teaching is based on the homework. This homework-based learning method applies several techniques of teaching simultaneously.

Abstract

Pembelajaran secara online telah dilakukan oleh guru-guru SMP Muhammadiyah PK Kartasura. Akan tetapi evaluasi secara online belum dilakukan secara baik. Banyak guru masih menggunakan cara paper-based test. Untuk itu perlu dilatih penggunaan aplikasi tes online agar efektif dan effisen. Pelatihan dengan metode ceramah dan praktik dipilih untuk kegiatan ini. Adapun hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa guru dapat menggunakan aplikasi tersebut mulai dari pengisian dashboard, pengisian data siswa dan mata pelajaran, manajemen tes, pengisian bank soal, dan yang terakhir melihat hasil pekerjaan siswa. Selanjutnya diharapkan hasil pelatihan ini dapat membantu sekolah dalam menguji siswa secara online dengan hasil cepat, efisien, dan efektif.
