Abstract

After decades of being behind the back, the words sea and maritime have begun to be echoed again after President Joko Widodo's speech at the 9th East Asia Summit, in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, 13 November 2014 which wished to make Indonesia a World Maritime Axis (PMD). In order to make PMD successful, the President and Cabinet Ministers lowered various policies and government action programs starting from the national level down to a lower and more realistic level. Like the sinking of ships carrying out IUU fishing carried out by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. PMD policy implementation invites a reactive attitude from countries inside and outside the Southeast Asian region. and there are big countries outside the region that seem not to support or oppose it. In the second period maritime issues are no longer visible, now it has been 8 years since the leadership of President Joko Widodo continues. The vision of making Indonesia the world's maritime axis seems to be swallowed up by time. The results of the execution of programs such as the construction of international standard ports and maritime highways are not yet clear. Indonesia still has a lot to improve itself. Even though development activities are currently focused on post-covid economic recovery and all anticipation of a new wave. The World Maritime Axis is no longer a major issue. However, at least the PMD program triggers the community and other elements of the nation to develop a sense of love and ownership of the sea. Abstract

The increasing demand for and investment in energy production from offshore oil and gas sources in Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, has increased the risk of offshore oil spills. This study aimed to describe offshore oil spill response to achieve maritime security in Indonesia. This research is qualitative with findings without going through statistical testing and collecting data sources through library research. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verifying. Environmental, maritime security, mainly from pollution, is classified as the closest part to the marine safety dimension, which aims to protect the marine environment and the blue economy-related to aquatic resources. Oil spills can cause substantial economic losses and endanger ecological systems and community health. The shortcomings in handling the 2009 Montara case showed that offshore oil spill response to achieve maritime security in Indonesia is not optimal.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology is matched by the rapid dissemination of information via social media, including information related to piracy. On the other hand, in maritime sociology conflicts, the presence of social media can polarize the international community, damage peace movements, promote violent agendas, and spread false and inaccurate information. Twitter is one of the social media platforms whose data is still open for processing. Writing this article aims to find out positive and negative sentiments about piracy news in Indonesia from Twitter IMBPiracy using the Nvivo 12 plus application. The method used is descriptive qualitative to describe the results of IMBPiracy's Twitter sentiment analysis with the Nvivo 12 Plus application. The data was taken from IMBPiracy's official Twitter from 2010 to 2022 using the Ncapture application. From the data collected, it is then analyzed to find out the country of origin and the number of negative and positive tweets. In this study, the results were found, namely IMBPiracy's tweets were dominated by France, which contributed 47 tweets. Meanwhile, an analysis of IMBPiracy's tweets about piracy in Indonesia shows mostly negative sentiment. Of course, these negative tweets can hurt the identity of the Indonesian nation as a formidable maritime nation.

Abstract

The separatist movement in Papua, known as the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), has been a phenomenon in recent years. The KKB is a group of armed individuals advocating for the independence of West Papua from Indonesia. They engage in a series of activities including attacks on security forces, extortion, facility burnings, and human rights violations. Addressing the separatist movement of the KKB in Papua involves efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully, promote dialogue, strengthen regional autonomy, and address the root causes of the conflict. Long-term solutions require collaboration between the Indonesian government, Papuan community leaders, and separatist groups willing to adopt peaceful political approaches and respect international law. This paper will investigate the issue of separatism in the context of international law, focusing on the case study of the armed criminal group in Papua. The research aims to analyze the international legal responses to separatist movements that employ violence and illegal methods to achieve their goals, involving the analysis of international law concerning state sovereignty, human rights, and enforcement of international law. The data used in this study includes international legal instruments in decision-making.
