Abstract

The Computerized Two Tier Multiple Choice (CTTMC) instrument has been created to mesure the bility of student in Integrated Science learning. This research was conducted to produce empirical evidence regarding the validity of the TTMC instrument using the Rasch Model analysis thorugh the Winstep program. A total of 283 junior high school students in the city of Surakarta were the research subjects. This assessment instrument consists of 20 questions. Statistical analysis was performed using the Rasch model. The results of the analysis show that in general, this assessment instrument can explain 40.7% of the variance that appears in each group of respondents. As many as 85% of the questions were declared fit and 15% of the questions still needed to be improved. Of the 283 participants, 13,4% had an ability misfit, 13,8% were included in the upper outlier, and 72,8% of the participants had an infit ability. Thus, that the assessment of Integrated Science SMP learning, in general, can be carried out using this instrument. How To Cite: Kristyasari, M.L., Yamtinah, S. (2022). Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop environmental chemical materials on the topic of environmental pollution with an ethno-STEM approach in terms of its validity. This research is an ADDIE model development research. The population in this study were all class VII students of SMP Negeri 8 Merauke. The sample used is class VIIB. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling. The validity of the instrument can be proven by looking at the content, construction and criteria. This type of research data analysis is content validity. Validity is the focus on providing evidence for the elements in the measuring instrument and is processed by rational analysis. The results showed that the results of the validity test obtained an average score from the two validators with the four aspects of the assessment of 4.17 and 4.07, both in the good category. The validation average score in terms of material, presentation, language and graphic aspects was 4.29 (very good); 4.20 (very good); 4.00 (good) and 4.12 (good).

Abstract

There are many misconceptions in the chemistry discussion that can influence students to acquire new knowledge, one of which is regarding buffer solutions. It is one of the chemical concepts consisting of abstract ideas which likely trigger students' misconceptions. However, research on this topic was still limited. Thus, in the present study, researchers attempted to diagnose students' misconceptions about buffer solutions by administering a two-tier multiple-choice test. Research data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Respondents in this study were 98 second-semester eleventh-grade students majoring in Science in 3 senior high schools, with high (A), moderate (B), and poor (C) categories based on the 2015 National Examination's scores. The misconceptions detected were about what buffers do, what buffers are, and how buffers can do what they do. These findings were discovered in schools with a moderate category.

Abstract

Misconceptions refer to students' incorrect understanding of a concept, which can lead to difficulties in problem-solving activities. This study aimed to examine the misconceptions of high school students regarding gender differences. The research was conducted in a selected high school, using a purposive sampling technique to select a class with above-average academic achievement. The research used a quantitative descriptive method and analyzed the data using GRM scoring. The findings showed that the average percentage of misconceptions held by students in all competency indicators was 28% for females and 22% for males. Misconceptions were found in all four competency indicators for buffer solution materials, including explaining the meaning of components, the working principle of buffer solutions, the role of buffer solutions in everyday life, and calculating the pH of buffer solutions. The highest percentage of misconceptions for both females and males was found in the first competency indicator, with 47% and 56%, respectively.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the Integrated Science question item. This is quantitative descriptive research. The research subjects were 90 students of class VIII Junior High School in the high, medium, and low categories in Surakarta City. The characteristics of the items were analyzed using the Winstep program with the Rasch Model. Based on data analysis, the results obtained are: 1) the validity of conformity level of the items is valid; 2) the reliability value of the students was 0,79 which was sufficient, the reliability of the items was 0,93 which was very good, and the reliability between the students and the items (Alpha Cronbach) was 0,81 which was very good; 3) the value of separation item > value separation of students; 4) the distribution of the difficulty level of the questions is generally in the medium category; and 5) the difference power of the questions in the very good category is 35%, 25% in the good, 30% in the moderate, and 10% in the unable to distinguish category. Thus, it can be concluded that the analysis of the characteristics of the Integrated Science question items using the Rasch Model is considered good.
