Abstract

Mahasiswa yang sekarang duduk di bangku Universitasseharusnya sudah mahir berbahasa Inggris. Namun kenyataanyang terjadi di lapangan, sebagian besar mereka tidak bisaberkomunikasi dengan bahasa Inggris tersebut. Padahal sejakTaman Kanak-Kanak sampai mereka di perguruan tinggimereka terus mempelajarinya, tetapi mereka tetap saja tidakbisa berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris. Untuk mengatasinyapeneliti mencoba teknik belajar Kepala Bernomor untukmeningkatkan ketrampilan berbicara mahasiswa.

Abstract

The main problems faced on this research are most of the students do not have a good preparation on following a test of English as a foreign language(TOEFL) and they are also poor in English skills. Purposes of this research are to explain how students’ experiences at TOEFL test and what difficulties are found by the students at 6th semester of English Department of Pasir PengaraianUniversity in completing the TOEFL.

Abstract

Writing critical essay can be simple and complicated in the same time. Critical essay is more than presenting and summarizing. It is an analitycal work.Dealing with statement above, a descriptive research is conducted in University of Pasir Pengaraian. The aims of this research are (1) to find out students’ ability in writing critical essay and (2) to explore factors affecting students’ writing critical essay skill. After analyzing the data quantitatively and qualitatively, it is found that the students’ ability in writing critical essay is 57,63 while factors affecting their writing skill are motivation, types, length and content of texts.

Abstract

This article is concerned with the study of applying writing task activities to students’ writing skill in developing good paragraphs at class II/A English Department in FKIP University of PasirPengaraian 20152016. The aspects explored in the study covered activities done by the lecturer in facilitating students’ need of the writing knowledge and skill . The research employed the action research design and the instruments used in collecting the data were a set of tests, observation sheet, fieldnoteand interview.The data analysis covered preparation and data implementation. The findings showed that thethe use of writing task activities could better improve students’ writing skill in developing good paragraphs. The finding also found somefactors that contributed to the better improvement, namely the selection of topics to be developed, the rule of peer and group discussion and the support of the writing lecturer in the instruction.

Abstract

This research reports the investigation on the use of using Integrated Readingand Composition (IRC) in teaching TEFL II at class VI/A of English departmentstudents of university of Pasir Pengaraian in academic year 2013/2014. The purposesof this study were to find outto what extent can integrated reading and composition(IRC) improve students’ reading comprehension of selected learning materials of ESPat Class VI/A of English department students of Pasir Pengaraian university? And (2)what factors influence the changes of students’ reading comprehension of the selectedmaterials by using IRC.This research used classroom action research designconsisted of two cycles and the instruments used were test, observation and interview.The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively
