Abstract

This research was conducted in order to improve students’ writing skill in recount text at eighth grade of SMP Tiga Hati Kepenuhan Hulu by using personal letter used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted to solve the students’ problem in English Writing. The reseacher did two cycles in which each cycle consisted of plan, action, observation, and reflection. The qualitative data was gained by analyzing the fieldnote, observation sheet and interview, then quantitative data were obtained from the students’ writing score. The finding of this research indicated that the implementation of personal letter media was succesful since there was an improvement in students’ writing skill in recount text. The finding showed an improvement in students’ writing skill in recount text from the average of writing test recount text in cycle 1 was (60,85) to (73,50) the average of writing skill in cycle 2

Abstract

Learn vocabulary is essential to support mastery of English skills. The factors that become the obstaclesare limited number of words mastered. This research is aimed to know whether Total Physical Response (TPR)can improve students’ vocabulary mastery and to know the factor influence the change in the process ofstudents’ vocabulary mastery by using TPR. The researcher conducted a classroom action research (CAR). Thedata of research were collected by using qualitative and quantitative data. There was significant improvementfrom every cycle. Cycle I: Pronunciation 60.42 (Average), spelling 66.33 (Average), meaning 66.42 (Average),grammar 66.08 (Average). Cycle II: Pronunciation 82.92 (good), spelling 82.58 (good), meaning 81.00 (good),grammar 80.00 (good)

Abstract

This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) to improved students’ vocabulary mastery at sixth grade students of SD Negeri 007 Bangun Purba. There were 32 students, they were 16 males and 16 females. In this research used two cycles. In this research, the researcher would like improved students’ vocabulary used scrabble. According to the research could be knows that the students’ average score improved from first cycle to the second cycle. According to the last test knows that the average score in the first cycle was 64.63. While, in the second cycle become 77.34. Based on the result, the researcher concluded that teaching vocabulary used scrabble could be improved students’ vocabulary at sixth grade students of SD Negeri 007 Bangun Purba

Abstract

The purpose of this research to describe the students’ skill in writing descriptive paragraph. This research wasdescriptive qualitative and used written test as instrument for collect the data. The result of this research inindicator content, students got scores with average 51,33% on fair. In indicator of organization, students gotscores with avarage 43,33% on fair. In indicator of vocabulary, students got scores with avarage 56,67% onfair and indicator grammar,students got scores with avarage 51,67% on fair. The result of all indicator was50,75% on the fair category. The conclusion of this research was on the fair category.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know, and analyze the components of plot and setting in English Movie“twilight”.The data was being taken from students’ skill in identifying plot and setting in English Movie“twilight”.The data was taken from the students answer and from the movie itself. The steps in analyzing the data were collecting the data, analyzing the data and display the result of the analysis. In collecting the data, the writer used test by using participant observation. In analyzing the data, the writer was used percentage based on Sudjana (1992).Based on the result of the analysis, it could be concluded that from 34 students in identifying plot and setting, it was found that 18 students (52,9%) were good category, 11 students (32,4%) were fair category, and 5 students (14,7%) were very poor category. There were no students was very good and poor category. It means that the students’ skill in identifying plot and setting in English movie was good category (52,9%).

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to know the effect of peer editing technique toward writing skill in narrative text of the first year students at SMAN 3 Rambah Hilir. The method in this research was experimental research, pre test and post test design. The participants of the study are 41students. The results of this research are there was significant effect in post test with using peer editing technique. (To) value was 5.679 and (Tt) value was 2.020. It showed that (To) was higher than (Tt). The research concludes that there was significant effect to the students of Xb.

Abstract

The students‟ writing skill of descriptive text at the first grade SMPN 2 Rambah Hilir was low because they do not know how to write a good descriptive text and lack of time to practice. The findings shows that there is any significant effect between teaching descriptive text with using clustering technique. It can be seen of the value of t0(tvalue) = 6,442 is bigger than tt(ttable) with significance 5%= 2,00 by using t-test. It can be concluded that there is any significance effect between teaching descriptive text by using clusteringtechnique.

Abstract

This research was an experimental research, The purposes of this research were to find out students’reading comprehension on narrative text taught by using Cloze Passage Technique and taught withoutusing cloze Passage Technique at the second year students of SMPN1 Rambah Hilir. The researchfindings showed that the improvement from the score of t-test. The total score of t-test was 3.371.Based on t-table, 2.00 <3.371 > 2.65. Therefore, it could be concluded that there was a significanteffect of using Cloze Passage Technique toward students reading comprehension on narrative text atthe second year of SMPN 1 Rambah Hilir.

Abstract

The purpose of this research to know the skill of the second grade students of MAN Pasir Pengaraian in using preposition of position in narrative text. The participant of this research were second grade students of MAN Pasir Pengaraian Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. It has 4 classes, IPA and IPS. IPA there were two classes, consisted of 52 students and IPS there were two calsess, consisted of 50 students. Sample of this research was a kind of “random sampling” and it had been taken 81 students as the sample. The research was a kind of descriptive qualitative research, the kind of this reseach had purpose to describe about the accurate situation. This research was done with some steps collected the data, analyzed the data, made conclusion, and report.Based on the analyzed the data which get by researcher, that skill of second grade students of MAN Pasir Pengarian was Poor category and its frequency were 76 % of the students. Good category so the percentage 6 %. Fairly Good level with the percentage 9 %. Then, Fair level with the percentage were 9%. So, it can be concluded that the students of second grade still in Poor level in using preposition of position in narrative text.
