Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the students’ skill in using conjunction in recount text. Thisresearch was descriptive qualitative research and used test as instrument in collect the data. The result of thisresearch showed that the student’ skill in using coordinating conjunction was 60,6% or in fair category and studentsskill in using subordinating conjunction was 65,6 or in fair category. The result of this research was 60,4 it can beconclude that the students’ skill was in fair category

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the skill of the second grade students of SMAN 3 Rambah Hilir of in writing narrative text. The sample of this research were second grade students of SMAN 3 Rambah Hilir Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. The class consists, of 21 students; the researcher used total sampling technique to determine the sample research. The research was descriptive qualitative .The purpose of this research was to described the situation objectively. This research was done with some steps. They were collecting the data, analyzing the data, making conclusions, and reporting result. The result of research showed that the skill of second grade students of SMAN 3 Rambah Hilir in Poor category was 0%, in good category was47, 61%. In excellent category were 19, 04 %. Then, in fair category was 28,57%, in very poor category was 4,76%. The average score was 74, 19 %. So, it can be concluded that the students writing skill in narrative text at second grade of SMAN 3 Rambah Hilir was good.

Abstract

Essay is the most important part learned and comprehended by sixth semester students of English study program of University of Pasir Pengaraian. Even though essay is not subject, however it is essential part of writing and reading. It is learned in critical essay. Thus, to improve their skill, a research was needed.The purpose of this research was to investigate whether students who were taught by Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (CIRC) have better reading comprehension of essay than those who were taught by small group discussion.This research was quasi experimental research. It was nonequivalent control group design; post-test only design. The treatments were only done in experimental class while control class was taught as usual. Population and sample of this research were same. It consists of two classes. They were thirty nine students. Control class is taught by small group discussion and experimental class is taught by cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC). Reading comprehension test; essay question form was used to collect the data. The data were analyzed by using independent t-test. The finding was students who are taught by cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC) have better scores (comprehension well) than those who are taught by small group discussion. The finding enrichs theories about technique in teaching critical essay subject.

Abstract

Teaching material is a complete elaboration of the main material written in the curriculum or syllabus. Choosing and developing teaching materials is a must that is done by teachers. So that learning is in accordance with the learning objectives to be achieved. Choosing teaching materials is not just about collecting teaching material, but it must fulfill what is needed by students so that an effective, systematic and interesting learning process will be created. Likewise for English for Specific Purposes class, teaching English at agribusiness major of the University of PasirPengaraianwas still has problem in providing suitable teaching material.The purpose of this research wereto describe Agribusiness students’ goals in learning English What do students’ needs toward English teaching material. This research implemented research and development research design with the respondent of 52 students. The result of research showed that most of students expected that they could master English vocabulary related to Agribusiness and they needed in English teaching material discusses more about specific vocabulary but less portion for grammar. In addition, they also need the teaching material covered four English skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan terhadap mahasiswa semester dua program studi agrobisnis Universitas Pasir, Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui sejauh mana dampak positif penggunaan gambar dalam memperbaikikemampuan mahasiswa dalam kosakata Bahasa Inggris.Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan melalui satu siklus penelitian dengan menggunakan gambar dalam mengajar mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris.
