Abstract

Reading comprehension is one of the important skills that must be learned by students. However, students had several problems in learning reading comprehension of narrative texts which caused the MCC not to be achieved by students. These problems are lack of vocabulary, unable to find students' main ideas, and unable to identify the generic structure of narrative text. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to improve students' reading comprehension skills in narrative texts through Reciprocal Teaching. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of several procedures, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research instrument used observation sheets, evaluation sheets and field notes. The results of Cycle I showed that most of the students had not been able to reach the MCC. The average grade of students is 50.66. There were 20 students who failed and 10 students who passed the MCC. There were 8 students (26.66%) in fail level, 12 students (40.10%) in less level, 4 students (13.34%) in enough level, 3 students (10%) in Good. and 3 students (10%) in very good category. While in Cycle II, it shows that all students have achieved MCC. The average grade of students is 92.33. There were no students who were put into the less, fail, and enough categories. There were 8 students (26.66%) in good level, and 22 students (73.33%) in very good level. Based on the results above, it can be seen that Reciprocal Teaching has improve students' reading comprehension skills in narrative texts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas delapan dan guru bahasa Inggris. Proses belajar mengajar akan berjalan efektif bila ada interaksi antara guru dan siswa. Interaksi di kelas merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam proses belajar mengajar. Bertanya telah diakui sebagai peralatan guru kelas dan pengajaran mendalam hingga menonjol. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis pertanyaan dasar yang diajukan oleh guru. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain kualitatif deskriptif. Data diperoleh dengan melakukan observasi dan wawancara dengan pendidik dan siswa sebagai responden. Populasi penelitian ini adalah guru dan siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Gido. data di investigasi dengan menerapkan strategi bertanya yang terfokus pada ragam pertanyaan guru. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa seluruh pertanyaan guru ditemukan paling sering digunakan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pertanyaan dari guru lebih dominan dari pada pertanyaan siswa. Saran ditujukan kepada guru bahasa Inggris dan peneliti selanjutnya. Bagi guru bahasa Inggris, di sini peneliti memberikan saran agar strategi yang telah diterapkan dapat dikembangkan oleh guru dan dimungkinkan bagi guru bahasa Inggris untuk menerapkan strategi lain untuk memudahkan siswa dalam belajar .dan untuk peneliti selanjutnya, diharapkan peneliti selanjutnya lebih baik lagi terkait dengan topik penelitian ini.

Abstract

The purpose of research to determine and analyze the application of the flipped classroom model in English learning conducted in class VIII-F SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli in 2022/2023. This researcher uses a qualitative descriptive research approach. The focus of research are first how the application of flipped classroom model in the learning English and second is what the results of students' learning English in the application of the flipped classroom model to learning English. Data sources in this study are observation, documentation, and interview.  Based on the findings of the study, it can be seen that the application of the flipped classroom model in learning English and the results of students’ learning English satisfactory, this is based on the results of observation and interview made by researcher on English teacher in class VIII-F who apply the flipped classroom model has been done well and supported from the results of interviews and from student test results that have been given by English teacher.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of Hello English application to Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at the seventh grade of UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli in 2022/2023. The researcher conducted by using Classroom Action Research. The population of the research was seventh grade of UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli that considered 288 students. The research took sample which consist of 32 students in class VII-B which was chosen and suggested by English teacher. The instrument of my research is observation, field notes, test, documentation. The research conducted in two cycles that consist of two meeting of each cycle. The result of the research in cycle I showed there were 15 students did not pass the MCC of 32 students and the average of students’ mark was 65,7. In the cycle II all the students passed the MCC with the average of students’ mark was 78,2. Based on the result of the research, the researcher concluded that the used of Hello English application improved students’ vocabulary and overcome the students’ problem in this research.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the students’ ability in translating analytical exposition text at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli. This research used descriptive research approach. The data was students’ translation analytical exposition text by eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli. The instrument that used to collect the data were test and questionnaire sheet. The data was analyzed by using translation scoring rubric that consist of three main aspect, namely: Accuracy, Readability, and acceptability. Furthermore, the researcher presented the data with percentage of scoring and described it into a description paragraph. The result of study showed that students’ score in translating analytical exposition text was 44,8. From the questionnaire, this research showed the students difficulties in translating long sentences was the most prominent factors that caused the students have difficulties in translating the text with the highest percentage was 63,8%. Based on the result of this research, the researcher suggest that the teacher should give more exercise or practice in translation activity, so that the students can overcome the difficulties that students face and make a good translation without difficulties.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the important skills that must be learnt by the students. However, the students had several problems in learning speaking which caused the Minimum Competence Criterion (MCC) were not able to achieve by the students. They were lack of vocabulary, the lack of students in think in short time when want to say, and the students were not able to identify the generic structure of song lyric. Therefore, the aim of research was to improve the students’ speaking skill in use Tik Tok App at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Gido in 2022/2023. The subject of the research was the tenth grade consisted of 19 students. The research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR) and it was applied in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of several procedures they were planning, action, observation, and reflection. The researcher used observation sheet, field notes, and test as the instruments of research. The result of Cycle I showed that most of the students were not able to achieve the MCC where no student There were 10 students (52,63%) who got mark classified in “Good” level. There were 9 students (47,36%) who got mark classified in “Adequate” level. And there were 0 students (0%) who got mark classified in “Less” level. The average of students’ writing skill in Cycle I was 52,63. While in Cycle II, it showed that all of students have been achieved the MCC where 13 students in “Excellent” level (72.22%), 5 students in “Good” level (27.78%), and there was no student in “Fair” level and “Poor” level. The average of students’ speaking skill in Cycle II was 84,21% Based on the result above, it proved that Tik Tok App increased the students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Gido in 2022/2023.

Abstract

Blended Learning might be one of many choices that educators and students apply in listening class. Post pandemic time, numbers of synchronous and asynchronous learning are arranged to cope with better learning. This research was conducted to see the effectiveness of Blended Learning when applied in Listening skill subjects. The subject of the research was 64 students of the 2nd semester of English Education Study Program at Universitas Nias in 2022/2023 who took Intermediate Listening class. The data gained from the observation and semi-structured interviews to both lecturer and students to gain clear data, and were analyzed through descriptive qualitative analysis. The result of the research revealed that the Blended Learning in Intermediate Listening class was considerably effective but considered as a new style of learning, need more improvement on competence, digital literacy and dedication.

Abstract

Guru diharapkan mampu memanfaatkan dan mengembangkan media pembelajaran sehingga kegiatanpembelajaran dapat berlangsung dengan baik. Kenyataannya, guru di UPTD SMP Negeri 3 Mandrehe masihmenggunakan media pembelajaran yang tidak bervariasi secara khusus dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Tujuandari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berupa komik pada materi menceritakan kembaliisi cerita fabel di kelas VII-A UPTD SMP Negeri 3 Mandrehe yang valid, praktis dan efektif. Jenis penelitian ini adalahpenelitian dan pengembangan (research and development). Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model 4Dyang terdiri atas empat tahap yaitu; pendefinisian (Defines), perancangan (Design), pengembangan (Develop), danpenyebaran (Dissminate). Media pembelajaran komik dikembangkan melalui tahap uji validasi oleh ketiga validator(ahli materi, ahli bahasa dan ahli desain), uji coba perorangan, uji coba kelompok kecil, dan uji coba lapangan yangdilaksanakan di UPTD SMP Negeri 3 Mandrehe. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, media pembelajaran komik yangdikembangkan telah teruji sangat valid dan layak oleh validator ahli materi mencapai 72,5% dan Revisi II 100%.Berdasarkan penilaian ahli bahasa revisi I mencapai 64,2% dan Revisi II 92,8%. Berdasarkan penilaian ahli desainrevisi I mencapai 46% dan Revisi II 92,8%. Kepraktisan media komik dikategorikan sangat praktis berdasarkanpenilaian uji coba perorangan mencapai 92,8%, penilaian uji coba kelompok kecil 94,8%, dan penilaian uji cobalapangan mencapai 94%. Kriteria sangat baik dengan persentase efektivitas media komik uji coba perorangan mencapai100%, uji coba kelompok kecil mencapai 100%, dan uji coba lapangan mencapai 83%. Maka disimpulkan bahwamedia komik yang dikembangkan sangat layak, praktis, dan efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

Kegiatan pembelajaran pada saat ini sangat memerlukan perkembangan yang dapat membantu guru dalammenyampaikan materi pembelajaran kepada siswa, sehingga siswa aktif dan antusias dalam belajar. Tujuan daripenelitian ini yaitu untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar dalam bentuk modul berbasis Contextual Teaching and Learningpada materi debat di Kelas X SMK Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli yang layak, praktis, dan efektif. Penelitian ini merupakanpenelitian pengembangan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri dari tahap analisis (analisys),perancangan (design), pengembangan (development), implementasi (implementation), dan evaluasi (evaluation).Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengetahui kelayakan modul hasil pengembangan adalah lembar validasi yangmeliputi aspek isi/materi, aspek bahasa, dan aspek desain. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengetahui kepraktisanmodul yang dikembangkan adalah lembar instrumen respon peserta didik. Mengetahui keefektifan modul dilihat dari teshasil belajar siswa berupa evaluasi. Kelayakan modul berbasis Contextual Teaching and Learning yang telahdikembangkan dan dinyatakan sangat valid dan layak berdasarkan penilaian dari validator isi/materi dengan persentaserata-rata mencapai 95%, validator ahli bahasa dengan persentase rata-rata mencapai 100%, dan validator ahli desaindengan persentase rata-rata mencapai 91%. Kepraktisan dinyatakan sangat praktis dengan persentase rata-rata mencapai93,90% dan keefektifan modul terhadap hasil belajar mencapai ketuntasan sebesar 84% dengan tingkat keefektifansangat tinggi. Keefektifan modul diukur dengan pemberian soal tes kepada siswa. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa modulberbasis Contextual Teaching and Learning yang dikembangkan sangat layak, praktis, dan efektif digunakan dalamproses pembelajaran.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari dengan hasil observasi yang dilakukan peneliti di UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli khususnya di kelas VII-B. Hasil observasi yang diperoleh adalah peserta didik cenderung bosan belajar karena menggunakan buku cetak. Penelitian ini dikembangkan dengan menggunakan model 4D yang terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu pendefenisian, perencanaan, pengembangan, dan penyebaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk (1) mengembangkan buku panduan menggunakan model Contextual Teaching and Learning pada materi menulis surat pribadi dan surat dinas, (2) mengetahui kelayakan buku panduan oleh ahli materi, ahli bahasa dan ahli desain, (3) mengetahui kepraktisan buku panduan melalui uji coba perorangan, uji coba kelompok kecil, dan uji coba lapangan, (4) mengetahui efektifitas buku panduan melalui hasil evaluasi belajar peserta didik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa hasil validasi oleh ahli materi yaitu revisi I mencapai 75% dan revisi II mencapai 99,19%. Hasil validasi oleh ahli bahasa yaitu revisi I mencapai 82,14% dan revisi II mencapai 96,42%. Hasil validasi oleh ahli desain yaitu Revisi I mencapai 66,31% dan pemerolehan revisi II mencapai 93,68%. Hasil uji coba perorangan 86,66%, uji coba kelompok kecil 93,33%, dan uji coba lapangan 96,52%. Hasil kentuntasan belajar peserta didik mencapai 100% kentuntasan. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media buku panduan yang telah dikembangkan oleh peneliti dapat dikatakan layak, praktis dan efektif dijadikan sebagai referensi belajar di sekolah.
