Abstract

Competition in the industry, both services and manufacturing, is not only on the scale of the company or its human resources, but also on the quality of products produced. The company needs to take quality control measures to maintain the quality of their products to comform to the quality standards set by the company, so that their products can be accepted by consumers. PT XYZ Batam is a capacitor manufacturing company. In the production process there are still various and fluctuating defects. The purpose of this study was to identify the level of variation in defects in the production process, identify the level of quality control performance by finding the value of DPMO, and identify the causes of defects. Map p is used to determine the number of defective products, DPMO is used to determine the level of sigma level and fishbone diagrams are used to identify the causes of defects. The results showed that there were data out of control limits on less / low epoxy and epoxy on lead defects while in off center and epoxy on box defects there was no data out of control. This value is still relatively low. Based on the fishbone diagram, it was found that human, machine, method, material and environmental factors were the cause of defects in capacitor production.

Abstract

Industri manufaktur Kota Batam migas saat ini hampir merosot tajam. Perusahaan fabrikasi dituntut untuk berinovasi meningkatkan produksi agar tetap dapat menjaga turnover perusahaan dengan diferensiasi produksi. PT PMP salah satu anak perusahaan Astra International dan United Tractors yang bergerak dibidang industri pembuatan kapal. Permasalahan yang terjadi adalah PT PMP mengalami kesulitan dalam memenuhi permintaan konsumen terhadap produk vessel yang merupakan produk baru. Kondisi layout fasilitas line fabrikasi komponen vessel saat ini hanya dapat menampung kapasitas produksi vessel 20 set per bulan, namun permintaan meningkat menjadi 45 set per bulan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi layout fasilitas line fabrikasi komponen vessel sehingga dapat dirancang usulan desain layout fasilitas line fabrikasi komponen vessel pada PT PMP. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui terdapat aliran proses perpindahan berulang seperti dari stasiun kerja finishing menuju stasiun kerja inspection dan dari stasiun kerja finishing menuju stasiun kerja boring lalu diikuti dengan proses di stasiun kerja tapping. Berdasarkan hasil analisis CRAFT dipeorleh dua layout usulan dengan biaya perpindahan yang berbeda. Namun, rancangan layout usulan kedua memberikan biaya peprindahan yang lebih efisien yaitu sebesar 30,11%. Oleh karena itu, perusahaan PT PMP dapat memilih rancangan layout usulan kedua untuk meningkatkan produktivitas perusahaan dengan meminimasi biaya perpindahan.

Abstract

Nowadays, the development of industry is increasing very rapidly. It can be known as the high competition between companies. Not only large and international scaled companies, small and medium-sized companies are also facing the same challenges in the global competition. Therefore, the companies need to conduct a quality control to maintain the quality of products produced and to achieve the conformance to specifications of product that has standardized by the company policies in order to improve the customer satisfaction. PT Amanah Insanillahia is a company involved in the bottled water industry. Based on the preliminary study, it shown the quality control only conducted to check the number of defective products produced without further evaluation and analysis. Therefore, there is a need to analyze the data of defective products produced and evaluate the results. The purpose of this study is to analyze the nonconformity product of the bottled water 600 ml brand PRIM-A. The p-chart is used in this research to analyze the number of defective products. Then, the fishbone diagram is used to analyze the causes of defective products. The results show that there is no data out of the control limits and mostly the data near in the central line of the p-chart. Using the fishbone diagram, it concluded that factors of man, machines, materials, methods, and environment are the causes of nonconformity products of the bottled water 600 ml brand PRIM-A. It is hoped this study will beneficial for the company to improve the product quality as well as to increase the customer satisfaction.

Abstract

The increasing competition in the global market and high consumer expectations for quality products, encourage companies to be able to produce quality products which meets international standards. One of the activities in improving quality that conform to product specifications is applying appropriate quality control system involving all aspects of the company that are integrated with the standard ISO 9001: 2008 as a guide. However, the rubber industry in West Sumatra still faces obstacles in the implementation of quality control techniques and tools of as experienced by ABC and XYZ. This study aimed to evaluate the application of quality control tools and techniques in the manufacturing company which is certified ISO 9001: 2008, ABC and XYZ. This research was conducted by calculating the value of DPMO (Defect Per Million Opportunities). Based on the results found that the two companies have different DPMO value. PT ABC obtained by 5,2σ sigma level from DPMO value of 94.33 for the types of defects whitespot and sigma level of 4,2σ of DPMO value of 3365.096 to defect type of metal, while the XYZ obtain sigma level of 5,3σ from DPMO value of 728.697 for the types of defects whitespot and sigma level of 4,8σ of DPMO value of 425.441 for the type of metal defects. From the analysis it can be concluded that the two companies have not been effective in applying the techniques and tools of quality control in accordance with the standards ISO 9001: 2008 in order to achieve continuous quality improvement. This is indicated by the key success factor of the implementation techniques and tools of quality control is not applied appropriately in achieving continuous quality improvement.

Abstract

PT APCB is an electronics company that produces electronic device components called Narrow Shaft. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the maintenance activity in a pre-turning machine by measuring the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) level. The OEE level is obtained based on the Availability, Performance, and Quality Rate of the pre-turning machine maintenance activities. In addition, the purpose of this study is to identify the causes of the ineffectiveness of pre-turning machine maintenance activities and provide improvement suggestions for maintenance effectiveness at PT APCB. Based on the results of the calculation of the OEE value it is known that the PT APCB company still has not reached the world standard of 85%. This shows that the company still has to improve maintenance activities in the pre-turning process. The calculation of OEE value shows that the lowest OEE level in February 2016 was 48.31%, while the highest OEE level in September 2016 was 83.23%. The low performance of the pre-turning machine process was due to the ineffectiveness of maintenance activities which were caused by 14 factors. The primary causal factor with the highest value is the bar feeder problem with the highest request frequency value of 250.

Abstract

Anthropometry is defined as the science of measurement and art in applying human physicalproperties, which is one of the most important factors to consider in designing a product. Productsthat meet ergonomic rules are products that are designed according to the dimensions of the user'sbody. Various factors affect anthropometric data, one of which is ethnicity. Ethnicity is defined as agroup of people identified through ancestral heritage, certain languages and certain cultures.Indonesia has more than 300 different ethnic groups, so it is important to represent anthropometricdata based on ethnicity. Batam City has a heterogeneous community consisting of various tribes andgroups. The dominant tribes include Batak, Javanese, Malay, Minang and Chinese. With the variationin anthropometric size, it is not possible for a design system to adjust to all types of sizes, thereforethere is a need for a database of anthropometric sizes in Indonesia. From the comparative testconducted by Anova testing, all 36 anthropometric with Sig. <α (0.05) which means that there aredifferences in Anthropometric between the five terms. Whereas for differences in AnthropometricBatak and Javanese are 19 same and 17 different, Batak and Malay are 14 same and 22 different,Batak and Minang are 12 same and 24 different, Batak and Chinese are 14 same and 22 different,Java and Malay are 12 same and 24 different, Java and Minang are 12 same and 24 different, Javaand Chinese are 12 same and 24 different, Malay and Minang are 9 same and 27 different, Malay andChinese are 14 same and 22 different, Minang and Chinese are 14 same and 22 different. The resultsof anthropometry obtained based on this research are expected to be a recommendation in thedevelopment of more ergonomic tools for users, especially the people of Indonesia.

Abstract

The market as one of the public facilities that are needed by the community in economic activity. But at present, the conditions in traditional markets are very dirty, smelly and unhygienic. This is caused by ineffective waste disposal management. The purpose of this research is to design a proposed layout of an effective Waste Disposal Site in the traditional market of Batam City, Pasar Toss 3000 Batam. This study uses the Activity Relationship Chart and Activity Relationship Diagram methods to obtain an effective Waste Disposal Site layout for the stalls of traders. Based on the results of this research, it can be seen that the design of the layout of the Waste Disposal Site for the traders' stalls is influenced by the criteria of proximity needs. This shows that the layout of the Waste Disposal Site must be close together according to the needs of each type of seller’s product. Based on the results of the proposed design, the layout of the Waste Disposal Site is arranged based on the needs of traders in accordance with the type of seller’s product.

Abstract

Batam is developing into a tourism city, however, Batam tourism has not been supported by the souvenir center to sell local people's work. There are several tourist center areas in Batam, but they have not specifically sold special souvenirs from Batam. This study aims to determine the right location for a typical souvenir center of Batam based on a decision analysis of the factors of tourist interest. The method used in this study is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) by using six variables of tourist interests, which were obtained from previous studies, namely the existence of a tourist center, accessibility, accommodation, transportation, culinary services and the availability of souvenir products. The six variables are paired with the five tourist center areas in Batam, which are obtained based on the results of the researcher's field survey. The decision analysis was carried out by three respondents who are relevant to this study, namely the government, small and medium enterprises, and academics who have expertise in the relevant fields. Based on the research results, it was found that the right location for a typical souvenir center of Batam, Nagoya. This is because Nagoya is the iconic center of Batam with the biggest shopping mall, so tourists will definitely visit Nagoya as an experience of traveling to Batam to buy various kinds of souvenir products from food, drinks, clothes, bags, shoes, perfume and various other accessories. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the existence of an important souvenir center is considered by stakeholders in developing tourism in Batam, so that the local culture of Batam is better known by tourists by buying typical Batam souvenirs at souvenir centers and can also improve the economy of the local population by producing Batam souvenirs

Abstract

Para ibu rumah tangga yang disebut sebagai kelompok mitra non produktif berusaha membangun usaha rumah tangga meskipun masih secara konvensional. Ibu rumah tangga membuat usaha rumah tangga dengan mengandalkan keterampilan dalam memasak atau membuat hasil karya kerajinan tangan. Produk cemilan ringan tersebut diproduksi secara konvensional oleh para rumah tangga di Perumahan Bengkong Palapa 1. Para ibu rumah tangga tersebut secara konvensional seperti memotong ubi dengan menggunakan alat pemotong sederhana (pisau), menggoreng ubi dengan menggunakan alat penggorengan sederhana (kuali penggorengan), mengeringkan minyak dengan koran, dan mengemas produk dengan kantong plastik standar dan plastik sealer. Cara produksi yang dilakukan sangat konvensional karena keterbatasan pengetahuan ibu-ibu rumah tangga pemilik usaha tersebut mengenai produk dan pengemasan produk yang tepat dan menarik. Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian diketahui bahwa pemahaman mitra semakin meningkat setelah diberikan pemaparan materi. Mitra sangat antusias untuk mengembangkan produk dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan permintaan pelanggan. Namun, masih ada beberapa program peningkatan yang perlu diberikan kepada mitra agar lebih maksimal dalam mengembangkan usaha

Abstract

Pertumbuhan kendaraan bermotor memberikan kesempatan kepada bisnis bengkel pengecatan mobil. Dewasa ini bisnis bengkel pengecatan mobil meningkat dan persaingan untuk memenuhi keinginan konsumen. Persaingan bisnis bengkel pengecatan mobil semakin ketat karena keinginan konsumen yang dinamis. Hal ini dikarenakan bisnis bengkel pengecatan mobil menawarkan pilihan jasa pengecatan sesuai dengan permintaan konsumen. Ogick Paint Art merupakan salah satu bengkel pengecatan mobil, perbaikan kendaraan dan modifikasi yang menerima hampir semua pengerjaan pengecatan seperti sepeda motor, mobil, dan aksesoris kendaraan bermotor lainnya. Tujuan dai penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi bagaimana memperoleh kriteria kualitas yang sesuai dengan keinginan konsumen menggunakan kuesioner Voice of Customer (VoC). Data yang telah diperoleh dari kuesioner Voice of Customer (VoC) kemudian akan digunakan sebagai panduan dalam membangun House of Quality (HoQ). Berdasarkan perhitungan House of Quality (HoQ) diketahui bahwa kriteria kualitas yang memiliki nilai prioritas paling tinggi adalah daya tahan kilap dan daya tahan intensitas warna yang memperoleh nilai 5 dari nilai tingkat kepentingan konsumen. Sedangkan peringkat kepentingan spefikasi teknis tertinggi adalah 251.29 dengan nilai kepentingan absolut dan nilai kepentingan relatif secara berutut-turut adalah 81,87 dan 7,23% untuk spesifikasi teknis kesesuaian rasio pernis dan hardener
