Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the 21st century skills that needs to be developed. This skill is one of the most important basic modalities for everyone and can affect their future life. This research aim to obtain a description of the effect of problem based learning on critical thinking skill students of grade IV in one of the primary schools in Lima Puluh Kota district, West Sumatera province. The research adopted quantitative research and employed quasi experiment which is non-equivalent control group design. The subjects of this research were 40 students of class A as an experimental class and class B as a control class. The data were collected through instrument tests which is critical thinking skill test on natural science subjects especially natural resource materials. The result of this research showed that critical thinking skill students in experimental class improved significantly. So, it can be concluded that the problem based learning affect to critical thinking skill students. This research is expected to be a reference of teachers in developing innovative natural science learning, let alone explicitly this concept not only emphasizes the cognitive abilities of students, but also implicitly can develop their social skills in natural science perspective.

Abstract

Abstract The social studies learning concept is very important for students to be able to adapt to their environment. The development of creative thinking skills in social life is something that must be developed. This study aims to discuss how the use of Mind Mapping in social studies learning can improve creative thinking. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with a literature review method which consists of several stages. First planning , where we determine the topics to be discussed, determine the criteria for the articles to be used. Second Conducting, the process of searching, selecting articles and data synthesis. The third is reporting, writing the results of a systematic literature review. Based on a study of 10 national articles on the use of Mind Mapping in social studies learning to improve creative thinking skills . The results of the research conducted show that the use of Mind Mapping is effective and efficient in improving students' creative thinking skills in social studies learning

Abstract

Spatial literacy (berpikir keruangan) adalah salah satu keterampilan abad 21 yang harus diketahui dan dimiliki semua orang. Oleh karena itu, keterampilan ini harus dikembangkan dan diajarkan sejak usia dini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh penggunaan media Google Maps terhadap spasial literacy siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar negeri di Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan dengan menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV dimana kelas A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas B sebagai kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan penalaran spasial kemudian dianalisis menggunakan pengolahan data SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata awal spasial literacy adalah 42,22 untuk kelas eksperimen dan 39,75 untuk kelas kontrol. Setelah berbagai perlakuan dan penalaran spasial akhir, rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 73,06 dan kelas kontrol adalah 60,56. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media Google Maps berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan spatial literacy siswa.
