Abstract

The objective of present study was to determine the optimum level of papain in the diet of keureling fish (Tor tambra). The complete random design was utilized in this study. Six levels of papain dosage were tested in triplicates, i.e. 0 (control); 17.5 mg kg-1, 20.0 mg kg-1, 22.5 mg kg-1, 25.0 mg kg-1 and 27.5 mg kg-1 of feed. The experimental fish were fed the experimental diet two times a day at 8 AM and 5 PM at feeding level of 5% body weight for 90 days. The Anova test result showed that papain enzyme gave a significant effect on the weight gain, daily growth rate, specific growth rate, survival rate, feed conversion ratio and feed efficiency (P<0.05). The Duncan multi-rage test result showed that the higher values for all measured parameters were obtained at the dosage of 27.5 mg kg-1. Therefore, it is concluded that the optimum dosage of papain enzyme for keureling fish was 27.5 mg kg-1 of feed. How to CiteMuchlisin, Z. A., Afrido, F., Murda, T., Fadli, N., Muhammadar, A. Abstract

The scad (Decapterus sp.) is one species commonly caught using purse seine and landed at the Pusong Fish Landing Base, Lhokseumawe, Aceh. The fishermen at this site do not have accurate knowledge about the fishing season of the scad, which leads them to miss out on peak fish catching season and increases the ambiguity about the fish landing data. The goal of this research is to compute the trend of Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) for scad fisheries over the last five years (2013-2017) and to examine the fishing season trends of scad landed at Pusong fish landing base. This study took place at the Pusong Fish Landing Base in August 2020. The moving average approach was used to process catch data from 2013 to 2017. Primary and secondary data about scad production and number of fishing trips were used to compile the research findings. The results showed that the CPUE for purse seine catch landed at Pusong Fish Landing Base varies from year to year. The highest CPUE value was recorded in 2015 with 442,534 kg/trip, and the lowest was in 2013 with a value of 27,674 kg/trip. The fishing season index for Scad (Decapterus sp.) has a high rating, indicating that this fish species can be caught all year. Based on the fishing season identification criteria, the fishing season index value greater than 100% indicates the peak season. Results from this research indicate that the peak season for scad landed at Pusong Fish Landing Base occurs in July, August, September, October, and November, with their index values of 151%, 146%, 119%, 122%, and 126% respectively. A fishing season index score of less than 100% indicates low season, this was recorded for January, February, March, April, May, June, and December (48%, 97%, 57%, 90%, 62%, 86% and 97%).Keywords:ScadFishing Season IndexCPUE

Abstract

Barramundi Lates calcarifer is a high economic value fish in Indonesia and Southeast Asia countries. However, the aquaculture system still experiences problems, including the high cost of production, specifically from feed, which is due to its relatively slow growth and low digestibility. Therefore, this study aims to determine alternative ingredients that can be used in the fish diet to improve feed utilization and growth performance using pumpkin flour Cucurbita moschata. A completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications was adopted in this study. The tested diet was (A) diet without pumpkin flour (control), (B) with 5% (C) 10% (D) 15% (E) 20%, and (F) 25%. The size of the Barramundi samples was 3-4 cm on average and the body weight was 1-3 g at the stocking density of 15 fish/container. The fish fed as much as 10% body weight daily, which is divided into 2 times, namely 08.00 AM and 4.00 PM for 60 days. The results showed that the addition of pumpkin flour had a significant effect on weight gain, daily and specific growth rate, survival, feed efficiency, conversion ratio, and carcass protein (P0.05). The diet with 5% pumpkin flour gave the best results over other treatments, with an average weight gain of 0.761 g, feed conversion of 1.578, feed efficiency of 63.455%, and a daily and specific growth rate of 0.012 g and 0.738%, respectively, The highest carcass protein content was found in the control treatment with a value of 18.210%, which was not significantly different from the 5% pumpkin flour treatment. Therefore, it is concluded that pumpkin flour can be added to the Barramundi diet as much as 5%. Keywords: Barramundi, Snapper, pumpkin, feed utilization
