Abstract

Aspergillus sp are fungi that commonly caused a systemic respiratory infection in Human and Dog. In Bali, most of the dog are free-roaming dogs, and has poor skin health condition. Some of them are suspected with fungal infection. Aspergillus sp has high risk to infect the dog, because they are available everywhere in environment. Therefore, this research is conducted for adding primary data of Aspergillus sp isolated from dog’s skin and their prevalence. The samples are 15 free-roaming Bali dogs with suspected fungal infection. Identification was carried out by using microscopic and macroscopic observation methods, skin swab was taken from the dog’s skin using the Mackenzie method, and the sterile toothbrush swab gently from the dog’s skin to the Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) media. The fungi were cultured on SDA media for macroscopic identification for approximately 3-4 days, mostly to observe how the fungal colony grew and its color. Microscopic identification are using adhesive tape, the tape was gently pressed into the fungal colony, the tape was stuck into the surface of object-glass with 3-4 drops of Methylene Blue staining, and the object glass was examined by using a light microscope, the findings of Aspergillus sp fungi are recorded and the data are descriptively presented. The result shows that most Aspergillus species that were found is Aspergillus fumigatus and Aspergillus niger according to their colonies growth and microscopic appearance, and the prevalence from 15 samples were 53.33%. Abstract

This study aims to prove that gonadorelin administration is able to cause follicle development to reach follicles that are ready to be ovulated and ovulation and fertilization occurs in bali cattle that experience repeated breeder in Sobangan Village, Badung Regency, Bali. Observations of developing follicles and the timing of ovulation were performed using transrectal ultrasound via rectal palpation. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of three treatment groups, namely the control group without gonadorelin injection (P0), the group receiving 50 g/im/head injection of gonadorelin (P1) and the group receiving 50g/im/head injection. gonadorelin injection at a dose of 100g/im/head (P2). Gonadorelin injection was performed when clear discharge came out of the vagina as a sign of the appearance of estrus and all samples in IB at 12 hours after the appearance of estrus. The results showed that the average follicle diameter at the time of estrus in the P0 group was 7.37+0.46mm, the P1 group was 7.67+0.78mm, and the P2 group was 7.59+0.77mm and statistically did not show any difference. which meaningful (P> 0.05). When reaching the de graff follicle, the mean follicle diameter in the P0 group was 11.27+0.59mm, the P1 group was 10.08+0.60mm, the P2 group was 9.92+1.06mm statistically showed a significant difference (P<0.05). At ovulation the mean follicle diameter in the P0 group was 10.53+0.57mm, in the P1 group 9.51+0.59mm, in the P2 group 9.33+0.89mm, statistically showed a significant difference (P<0.05). Ovulation time in the P0 group was 71.56+1.33 hours, while for the P1 and P2 groups it was 12.00+0.00 hours and statistically showed a significant difference (P<0.05). The percentage of non-return rates in the three treatment groups were 0%, 77.8% and 88.9%, for P0, P1 and P2, respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of the long-tailed chickens semen. A total of 8 long-tailed chickens that were sexually mature (6-8 months) were used in this study. Semen was collected using massage techniques on the back and cloaca of the chicken once every two weeks for three times which refers to the duration of the process of spermatogenesis. Semen characteristics were evaluated macroscopically including volume, color, odor, consistency and pH and microscopically including mass movement, progressive motility (%), abnormality (%), viability (%), concentration and number of spermatozoa per ejaculate. The results showed that the semen of long-tailed chickens had a volume of ±0.10ml, milky white color, pH of ±7.29, thick consistency and characteristic odor. Spermatozoa mass movement looks good (++), progressive motility ±86.22%, spermatozoa concentration ±4759.38 x ml, spermatozoa abnormality ±9.29%, spermatozoa viability ±86.15% and the number of spermatozoa per ejaculate ±483,49 x . This study concluded that long-tailed chickens had good semen quality with above average characteristic examination results. Further research is needed on long-tailed chicken semen such as storage and dilution techniques to support the implementation of artificial insemination so as to improve the quality and selling power of long tail chickens in Indonesia.
