Abstract

The research were identified terraced land use change and its causality aswell as analyzed the relationship with irrigation management systems in a terracedpaddy landscape in Hokudan-Cho, Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture, Central Japan.Between 1963 and 2000. As the result, the land use change from 1963 to 2000 wasdominated by the decrease of terraced paddy field into other utilizations. It becameclear that the social factors which cannot be seen directly in the field inducedinfluences on the pattern of landscape change and the land management in the twotypes of irrigation system. Customary social rules which is contained in Tazu systemwere strongly contributed to the sustainability of the terraced paddy fields. Hopingthis research also can be an inspiration to conserve the landscape of terraced paddyfield in Bali Island.

Abstract

Plant has highly visible socio cultural role for Hindu people in Bali. Even though these plants were existed in the field, it was difficult to identify, monitor and update their existences. The objectives of this research are to identify the endangered socio cultural trees and to make a mapping system of the endangered socio cultural trees in Denpasar based on web. Mapping system was made using MySQL, PhP, Mapserver, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Mozila Firefox. As many as 39 species of socio cultural trees were categorized in endangered risk. The data inventory of cultural trees in Denpasar can be quickly accessed and effectively managed by Mapping Program.

Abstract

Strengthening the concept of the catur muka statue as the landmark of Denpasar. Denpasar is a city onthe island of Bali and at once becomes the capital of the province of Bali, Indonesia and becomes economicgrowth centers in Bali. Such growth is supported by the existence of improvements in all sectors, includingthe landmark of Denpasar, The catur muka statue still can be strengthen by improving the internal andexternal quality. This study aims to explore the internal and external quality as well as the plannedstrengthening of the concept of the catur muka statue as the landmark of Denpasar. The research methodused was survey method with techniques of observation, questionnaires, and supporting data through literature studies. Research results are processed by using the method of tabulate and descriptive analysis.The result of the analysis of the study showed the catur muka statue has all the internal and external qualityrequired by a landmark, but not yet developed optimally. Strengthening planning concepts through designconcepts, lighting and planting is required to improve the internal and external quality of the catur mukastatue as a landmark of Denpasar.

Abstract

The Landscape Planning of The Area in The Pura Dalem Mutering Jagat Kesiman. The sanctum area is an area around a temple that needs to be kept sacred within a certain radius within the Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia Central Decree, concerning Bhisama Kesucian Pura. Pura Dalem Mutering Jagat Kesiman (PDMJK) as Khayangan Tiga temple in Denpasar-Bali has a sacred radius area, namely Apenyengker. Some obstacles have interfered with the activities and sanctity of the temple that will need to be overcome, to be able to create a more sanctum area. The primary objective of the research was to plan the ideal sanctum and also to identify the biophysical and socio-cultural aspects. The method used was the survey method by considering the value of abiotic - biotic (biophysical) and culture (socio-cultural). At the same time, the stages were data inventory, analysis, synthesis, basic concepts, concept development, and planning stages. The data analysis and synthesis were carried out from the socio-cultural and biophysical aspects of qualitative descriptive and quantitative spatial by using the MCDA (multicriteria decision analysis) method. From the research results, there was a steep slope of land into a danger signal which concludes that the area needs to be conserved. The poor spatial planning, especially the temporary stall and parking area, was still unorganized. The spatialplanning concept resulted in 3 (three) zones, namely the sacred zone, the conservation buffer zone, and the profane zone. The plan was to use the vegetation concept to vegetate the area with Balinese ceremony plants with conservation value. The idea of circulation was the foundation for the circulation of pedestrians and transportation circulation. The development of the facilities was needed to create new space and support the activities at PDMJK such as park benches, gates, canteen and pedestrians.

Abstract

Evaluation of type and planting system at the median road of Ir. SoekarnoMedian strips the City of Saumlaki, Maluku Tenggara Barat. Planting plants in the median strip Ir. Soekarno was dominated by Trembesi trees (Samanea saman) with tree branches that grew beyond the median strip. It was quite dangerous for road users because the Trembesi trees can easily be fallen when exposed to strong winds. Despite its problems, the Trembesi tree had ecological potential benefits such as the highest oxygen-producing and pollutant-absorbing capacity. This study aims to determine and evaluate the types of plants in terms of the physical categories and functions of plants and spacing. This study was located in Ir. Soekarno Road, South Tanimbar District, Town of Saumlaki, Maluku Tenggara Barat Regency. The standard of assesment for median road plant used The Guidelines Regulation of Public Works Minister 2008. Survey method with quantitative descriptive approach was used was this study by taking four samples of the median road segment. The physical assessment results for the four samples varied, those were moderate, good, and very good. The assessment result of functions in each segment had been fulfilled the categories with good and very good criteria, howevere the function needs to be improved. The value of distance assessment for each segment varied, those were good and very good. In order to increase plant distance category, it was necessary to add plants in each segment.

Abstract

Evaluation of Function and Comfortability of Dewa Ruci Traffic Island on Bypass Ngurah Rai Street in Badung Regency. The traffic island is part of an elevated crossroads with curbstone. The main function of the traffic island is as a traffic control and pedestrian safety when crossing. Aesthetically, traffic island has additional function as a landmark and beautification. The Dewa Ruci's traffic island (TIDR) in Badung Regency recently was redesigned for more attractive aesthetical city purpose that has caused activity and traffic violations. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate its function and comfort. The research method used was a survey method with data collection techniques through observation, site documentation, interviews related parties, questionnaires, and literature study. The analysis results showed that the primary function of TIDR which were for traffic control and pedestrian safety were 74,3% and 62,3%, respectively. Its illegal function which was a park area has the highest value (87%). This result also found there were three comfort variables which was low; circulation (50,9%), safety (59,7%), and thermal. Maintenance and management improvement, safety street furniture addition, and rearrangement of pedestrian paths in TIDR were recommended to improve the TIDR comfort.

Abstract

The variation of land surface temperature using Landsat 8, case study City of Denpasar. Land cover is an essential signature that is often used to understand interactions between local temperatures and land surfaces. The integration of remote sensing and geographical information system helps to effectively and efficiently extract data for a vast study area. The purpose of this study was to determine the range and distribution of Land Surface Temperature (LST) and the variation among land covers in City of Denpasar using Landsat 8. The City of Denpasar was selected as the representative study area where human population considerably increased high during past decade and thus, has posed a need to understand urban climates mainly for a city which located in a relatively small tropical island. This study shows that trees in mangrove, urban water areas, and paddy fields had lower LST and can be used as an effective means of offsetting the energy-intensive urban heat island effect.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi dan preferensi masyarakat terhadap kawasan tepi Tukad Bindu sebagai ruang publik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey dan pengolahan data dengan tabulasi. Alat yang digunakan adalah software Microsoft Excel dan bahan berupa lembar kuesioner. Hasil studi menunjukkan jarak tempuh pada kedua tempat didominasi oleh pengguna dengan jarak 1-5 kilometer dan tidak ada respon negatif yang persentasenya melebihi nilai positif. Nilai positif adalah persepsi sangat setuju (SS) dan setuju (S), kategori nilai negatif adalah persepsi tidak setuju (TS) dan sangat tidak setuju (STS), sedangkan persepsi netral (N) dianggap tidak memberikan nilai. Hasil analisis persepsi dan preferensi data menunjukkan bahwa responden lebih tertarik dengan ruang publik yang didominasi oleh softscape.

Abstract

Public space planning based on biophysic data of upper Tukad Badung, Sempidi Village, Badung District. The Upper Tukad Badung area has the potential for natural sceneries, ecological values and religious socio-culture areas to be developed as a comfortable and safe public zone. The purpose of this research is to identify, analyze the biophysical and social aspects and allocate space for public activities in accordance with the conditions of the Upper Tukad Badung area. The research method used was a survey method using data collection techniques through observation, site documentation, interviews, questionnaires, and literature study. The landscape planning stages included inventory, analysis, synthesis, and landscape planning. The results of spatial synthesis of topographic and vegetation data with descriptive analysis of other data resulted active and passive public zones. The zones were connected with primary and secondary circulation types in a linear pattern. The vegetation plan had three functions;aesthetic conservation, cultivation, and vegetation.

Abstract

Urban forest planning as a thermal comfort controller (case study: Subak Munduk Gendang, Kesiman Kertalangu village, East Denpasar district, Denpasar City, Bali). Urban Forest is a land stretching with dense trees growing in urban areas both on state land and public land, in which is appointed as urban forest by government official authority. One function of the urban forest is to ameliorate microclimate in urban areas so that thermal comfort will increase. The aim of this research is to design urban forest as controller of thermal comfort. This research uses the potential analysis method, site constraints method, amenity method, danger signal method, Thermal Humidity Index (THI), vegetation analysis methods, and linear regression methods. The site of this research is divided into three zone, such as extensive zone, semi intensive zone and intensive zone based on the potential and the constraint of biophysical aspects of the site. The result of this research is on the plan of adding tree green space about 20,53% or 15610 m2 of the total area of Subak Munduk Gendang, thereby it is estimated that THI value <27,00 (ideal THI 27,00).
