Abstract

The exploitation of plant extract as a reducing agent for synthetic silver nanoparticles has become the main focus of researchers. This study aimed to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from Moringa oleifera leaf stalk extract via bio-reduction. The AgNPs were characterized through ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The research results indicated that an increase in the initial AgNO3 concentration and incubation time had affected the absorption pattern of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) trend of AgNPs. The results of the functional group analysis revealed the formation of the ketone group (1741 cm-1), which was derived from hydroxyl groups (3415 cm-1). The crystal structure of AgNPs was characterized using XRD. The estimation of the crystal measurement based on the Debye-Scherer equation was 15.59 nm, which was estimated as having a cube crystal form.

Abstract

Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using mangosteen bark extract, modification and its application in detecting melamine has conducted. This research aimed to synthesize AgNPs via bio-reduction method using mangosteen bark extract followed by modification with p-coumaric acid (APK), and evaluating its application detecting melamine. The AgNPs were characterized through ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared absorption spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Observation suggested that an increase of incubation time had affected its surface Plasmon resonance trend. Observation of functional group by FTIR showed that carbonyl group (1707 cm-1) suspected from hydroxyl group (3414 cm-1). Further analysis of crystallite via XRD suggested that nanoparticle size at 30 nm estimated using Debye-Scherer, within the form of unit cells is cubic. Modified AgNPs showed an interaction between APK and particle surface through C=C alkenes (1598 cm-1) and aromatics (1672 cm-1), =C-H aromatic (3070 cm-1), aliphatic C-H (2501 cm-1), C-O (1107 cm-1) and C=O carboxylate (1774 cm-1). The performance of product as melamine detector suggested that the AgNPs-APK had detected melamine in range of concentration from 0.1 to 1000 ppm.

Abstract

The research aims to synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) via bio-reduction method using mangosteen skin extract. The growth of AgNPs was characterized by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis). Based on Surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) data, observation suggested that an increase of initial AgNO3 concentration along with temperature, had affected its surface Plasmon resonance trend. SPR absorption indicates that the concentration of AgNO3 and the synthesis temperature was instrumental in the formation of silver nanoparticles.

Abstract

Bacillus licheniformis HSA3-1a is able to produce extracellular protease. The aim of this research was to find out its production optimum time, consentration of MnCl2, temperature and optimum pH, also the cofactor influence on activity protease from B. licheniformis HSA3-1a. The protease activity was tested with a modified method of Walter. Protease production time was optimum for 36 hours with an activity value of 0,394 U/mL, protein content was 132,35 mg/mL. The Optimum condition of protease enzyme were pH 7,0 and temperature 45 ⁰C with an activity value of 0,0463 U/mL. Protease activity could be inhibited by MnCl2 concentration of 0,01 - 0,03 M.

Abstract

Kegiatan sains memungkinkan siswa melakukan eksplorasi terhadap berbagai benda yang ada di sekitarnya. Sains juga dapat melatih siswa menggunakan inderanya untuk mengenal berbagai gejala benda dan peristiwa. Melalui proses sains, siswa dapat melakukan percobaan yang sederhana dan kreatif. Dari percobaan sederhana tersebut, siswa dilatih untuk menghubungkan sebab dan akibat dari suatu perlakuan sehingga dapat melatih berpikir logis dan saintifik. Berdasrkan latar belakang ini, diharapkan ada kegiatan yang dapat dilakukan untuk menumbuhkan rasa cinta siswa terhadap sains. Kegiatan tersebut dapat terealisasi melalui ekperimen sains sederhana. Jurusan kimia Fakultas MIPA Universitas Pattimura, mendedikasikan pengabdian masyrakat melaluieksperimen sains sederhana dengan judul” Belajar Redoks Melalui Demo Sains Sederhana Di SMA Negeri 14 Ambon. Kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan di SMA Negeri 14 Ambon yang beralamat Passo, diharapkan dapat menumbuhkan rasa suka dan cinta terhadap sains sehingga siswa dapat memahami teori melalui demo sains yang dilakukan. Melalui demo sains tentang materi redoks siswa akan dengan mudah mengetahui reaksi redoks sederhana yang terjadi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari seperti: proses pencoklatan buah, proses fotosintesis, reaksi perkaratan (korosi) dan lain sebagainya.

Abstract

Media pengajaran diartikan sebagai segala sesuatu yang dapat digunakan untuk menyalurkan pesan atau isi pelajaran, merangsang pikiran, perasaan, perhatian dan kemampuan siswa, sehingga dapat mendorong proses belajar-mengajar. Banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan untuk mempelajari sains sehingga sering mengalami kesalahan konsep. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat langsung dilaksanakan kepada masyarakat melalui metode ilmiah yang berorientasi pada pemecahan masalah. Secara umum, tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan tema: “Demo sains: aplikasi pemahaman dasar sains dalam aktivitas sehari-hari kepada siswa SMA Negeri 42 Maluku Tengah ” adalah menumbuhkan minat siswa terhadap ilmu sains dengan mendemokan kejadian sehari-hari yang dapat dijelaskan dengan ilmu sains. Jumlah peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah 50 orang siswa . Materi permainan sains yang digunakan adalah 7 materi yang didemonstrasikan oleh tim dosen di depan para siswa di ruang kelas. Metode yang dilakukan adalah pertunjukkan percobaan sains yang diselingi dengan ceramah dan diskusi serta melibatkan beberapa siswa/i untuk langsung mencoba permainan sains yang sedang dilakukan. Para siswa menunjukkan antusias yang tinggi dengan cara berlomba untuk mempraktekkan percobaan dan banyak memberikan pertanyaan tentang materi yang dipraktekkan. Kegiaan ini juga dapat mempermudah guru ketika menjelaskan tentang materi ajar yang sudah dipraktekkan.
