Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by the body's inability to metabolize carbohydrates, fats and proteins, leading to hyperglycemia or high blood sugar levels. This study aims to determine the relationship between food consumption patterns and the incidence of type II diabetes mellitus in Sei Langkai Village, Batam City in 2021 using a cross sectional design. The sample needed in this study were 65 elderly aged 60 to 60 years and over. The measuring instrument in this study was the FFQ questionnaire and was analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results obtained by the majority of the 65 elderly, most of the elderly had Type II DM with a fairly good food consumption pattern of 22 elderly (71.0%). The results of the bivariate analysis show that there is a significant relationship between food consumption patterns and the incidence of type II DM in the Sei Langkai subdistrict, Batam City in 2021 p value = 0.015 > α 0.05. The conclusion of the study, there is a relationship between food consumption patterns and the incidence of type II diabetes mellitus in the elderly. Suggestions are addressed to the elderly to regulate good and healthy food consumption patterns to maintain blood sugar levels within normal limits

Abstract

Diet and physical activity are the causes of stroke. The incidence of stroke in Batam in 2018 was 11.2%. A poor diet and consuming less fiber are more at risk of stroke, In addition to diet, lack of physical activity also tends to trigger degenerative stroke. This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and physical activity with the incidence of stroke. This type of research is analytic with a cross-sectional design. A sample of 67 respondents aged ≥ 45 years who were in the working area of the Sekupang Community Health Center with purposive sampling technique and data analysis used the Chi-Square test. Based on the results of the study, there was no significant relationship between diet and the incidence of stroke with a dietary p-value of 1.00 (α> 0.05) and there was a significant relationship between physical activity and stroke incidence of 0.003 (α <0.05). ), to the patient or the patient's family to increase the consumption of foods with various types of food, the right frequency of eating and the amount of food to meet energy, and to be diligent in doing physical activities such as sports to reduce the incidence of stroke.

Abstract

In Indonesia, stunting is one of the most common diseases in toddlers with a percentage (27.67%) caused by several factors, one of which is complementary feeding. This study aims to determine the relationship between complementary feeding (MP-ASI) and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-60 months in the Tanjung Buntung Public Health Center, Batam City in 2022. The design of this study used a case control. Respondents in this study were 28 cases and 28 controls. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The results of the Chi-Square test show (p value = 0.001; OR = 0.133) so that Ho is rejected, this indicates a relationship between complementary feeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-60 months in the working area of ​​Tanjung Buntung Public Health Center, Batam City. year 2022with. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the provision of complementary feeding with the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-60 months and with an OR value of 0.133, which means that toddlers who are given inappropriate complementary foods can be at risk of stunting 0.133 times. It is hoped that health services should increase the provision of information and education to mothers of toddlers about the importance of nutrition and the correct way of processing complementary feeding needed by toddlers in an effort to prevent stunting.
