Abstract

Aims: The increasing prevalence of stunting and its associated morbidities highlight the need for effective prevention measures. Digital-based family empowerment interventions have been identified as a promising approach to prevent stunting. This study aims to investigate various types of digital-based family empowerment interventions in preventing stunting and optimizing child growth. Method: It is a thematic literature review using a semi-structured search approach with predefined keywords in four major databases, namely Scopus, PubMed, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. The research applies a systematic research method with PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and sets search boundaries using the PICO (Population/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) approach. Three search criteria include digital-based family empowerment interventions for stunting prevention, articles published within the last five years, and written in English or Indonesian. Result: From the search, nine articles were selected, forming three main themes: (1) digital-based child growth and development monitoring programs in preventing stunting; (2) digital-based health education programs for stunting prevention; and (3) digital-based nutrition counseling programs in preventing stunting. Conclusion: Digital-based family empowerment interventions have proven to be effective in stunting prevention efforts. With a better understanding of these interventions, it is hoped that knowledge and skills in preventing stunting and optimizing child growth can be enhanced. The role of nurses can be pivotal in integrating technology into family education.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country with many indigenous people, including the Tengger tribe, who live in the mountainous area called Tosari. Limited access in rural areas and various risky behavior are the challenges for youth to develop optimally. To fill this gap, Tosari youth, together with midwives and the village office, initiated a youth-integrated health post called posyandu youth (PR), which was adapted to local culture. This study determined outcomes, program quality, and the possibility of PR program development using the positive youth development (PYD) framework. This study employed a qualitative design with a case study approach. From semi-structured interviews with various key stakeholders of PR, findings reveal a connection between the PR program quality and the positive health and well-being outcomes among participants. Based on these findings, several recommendations for maximizing PR as a youth development program to improve PYD and well-being among indigenous youth are provided.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a global health challenge that significantly impacts individuals and communities. Family-based care is recognized as an effective method to enhance TB management. The aim of this case study is to illustrate the implementation of family-based nursing care in a TB case to provide holistic care. The method used is a case study approach following the Family Nursing Model (FCN) theory by Friedman. A family with TB-diagnosed members was selected as the sample. The nursing care process was conducted over three months with bi-weekly routine visits. The care process included assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation stages. The results of this case study formulated the nursing diagnosis “Ineffective Health Maintenance in the Family of Mr. D”. Interventions were based on the five family health tasks, namely understanding health issues through education about TB and the disease process; making informed decisions involving the family; providing care with support for the treatment program undergone by family members; adapting a healthy environment through hygiene behavior education; and utilizing health services through referral to community services. This nursing care illustrates integrated care practices with active family involvement, providing practical guidance to enhance TB treatment outcomes and management at the family level.
