Abstract

Communication is a process of delivering and receiving messages. Communication problem can arise between adults and adolescents in a foster house. This study aims to determine the effect of communication training to increase educators’ communication skill in a foster house. This study used pre-experimental design method with one group pretest-posttest design where only one group given treatment. The research sample was 7 educators who interacts with adolescents in a foster house in Bali. Measurements use observation based indikator for communication aspects of DeVito (2016) and interview to evaluate and follow up after the communcation training ended. The training was given for 2 days. Data was analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results show that communication training is effective to increasing communication skill of foster house’s educators.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of sexuality training to increasing the knowledge of sexuality and sexual assertiveness behavior in adolescents. This study used preexperimental design, with one group pretest posttest design, where only one group will be given treatment. The research sample was selected using total sampling method. The subjects of this study were 12 members of Posyandu Puskesmas X aged 11-20 years. Sexuality knowledge was measured using an instrument prepared by researchers, while Sexual Assertiveness Scale (SAS) was used to measure sexual assertiveness. The intervention consists of eight sessions of sexuality training for two days. Data was analyzed using wilcoxon signed rank test. The results show that sexuality training is effective to increasing knowledge and sexual assertiveness, and it is expected to be able to prevent teenagers from engaging in premarital sexual behavior.

Abstract

The mother of children with autism is the most vulnerable person to have stress and depression. Therefore they need positive psychological well-being to optimize the caring of children. Family is the primary environment in supporting the mother's mental health. This study aimed to find out how family functions correlate with psychological well-being among the mother of a child with autism. A quantitative approach was applied, involving 142 mothers who had autistic children selected through purposive sampling techniques. The data was collected using Family Functioning and Psychological Well-being instruments. The data was then analyzed with regression analysis. The results show that family functioning and psychological well-being are correlated significantly. The more effective family function based on the perception of the mother, the higher the psychological well-being of the mother, and vice versa. Problem-solving, communication, affective response, and role are dimensions that influence psychological well-being, while behavior control and affection dimensions are not significant. The results of the study can provide input suggestions for the government, such as through family empowerment regarding the importance of supporting and optimizing the role of family members to stimulate the psychological well-being of mothers of children with an autism spectrum disorder.

Abstract

School is a protective factor to improve and promote mental health. Many mental health problems are experienced by school learners. From various interactions with the learners, teachers are expected capable to prevent and identify school learners’ mental health problems. Although the human-teacher sources are high but they are not completely used to support learners’ mental health problems. This research aims to find out the mental health literacy operational definition and the urgency of mental health literacy of the teachers. This research applied a systematic literature review from five search engines. They were Spingerlink, Science Direct, Jstor, Eric, and Pubmed. The applied keywords were “mental health literacy”, “school”, and “teacher”. The taken references are from 1997 - 2020.  Six hundred and thirty three articles were obtained from five search engines.  From the systematic review, seven articles were obtained.  An expanding concept of mental health definition was found from the initial concept proposed by Jorm. Clear concept definition influenced the measurement. Teachers must be aware of mental health literacy because they are the first lines to identify mental health problems of the learners, mostly found on 12 - 25 years-old learners. Low teacher literacy at school about mental health problems experienced by learners led to serious impacts for them.

Abstract

Studi ini merupakan narrative review mengenai temuan dari penelitian kualitatif yang mengkaji stres akademik. Penelitian kualitatif memiliki keunggulan dibanding penelitian kuantitatif untuk menggali kedalaman data seperti stressor dan cara coping yang tepat untuk permasalahan yang dihadapi, namun masih sedikit kajian stres akademik dari segi kualitatif. Hasil narrative review menunjukkan stressor apa saja yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa pada konteks bervariasi serta strategi coping yang tepat. Ini mendukung perlunya penelitian kualitatif pada kajian stres sebagai penggalian data terhadap persepsi individu terkait stres itu sendiri. Meskipun demikian kelemahan kualitatif saat ini menjadikannya metode penelitian ini sebagai komplementer dari kuantitatif.

Abstract

The purpose of this literature is to determine the selection of stress coping strategies used by single parent mothers in dealing with problems after the abandonment of their husbands. The method used in writing this literature review is to search for literatures using databases such as http://garuda.ristekbrin.go.id/ and Google Scholar. The results of this literature review identified five articles that met the inclusion criteria. From the literature obtained, the majority use this type of qualitative research as many as 3 articles and 2 articles using quantitative research. Several studies have shown that the most effective and often used strategies for single parent mothers after their husband leave behind are problem focused coping and emotion focused coping.The conclusion of the study shows that the situations that cause stress to the three single parent mothers after the abandonment of their husbands are (a) the dual roles that are played after the husband leaves, namely meeting the psychological needs of the child, (b) work, (c) accusations from neighbors and (d) economic problems. The coping strategies used by single parents after their husband left their husbands are emotional focused coping (coping that focuses on emotions) and problem focused coping (coping that focuses on problems). Emotional focused coping that is used is avoiding problems, ignoring problems, blaming yourself and interpreting problems. Meanwhile, the problem focused coping used is exercised caution, instrumental action and negotiation.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic had brought several negative impacts on various aspects of life, including causing stress. Stress during the pandemic afflicted all levels of society, including the COVID-19 survivor itself. One of the ways to deal with stress was the provision of psychoeducation. The provision of psychoeducation during the pandemic could be done online in the form of webinars. The effectiveness of the webinar activity was measured by analyzing the differences in the results of stress management knowledge levels and stress levels in the pre-test and post-test sessions. The level of stress management knowledge was measured using a stress management knowledge scale (Guttman split-half Coefficient = .791) while stress was measured using the PSS-10-C scale (α = 0.734). There was an increase in the knowledge score of stress management and a decrease in stress score. It also showed that webinar psychoeducation had a significant effect on the level of knowledge of stress management and stress levels. These results implied that psychoeducation through webinars should be taken into account as a method to overcome COVID-19 Survivor’s stress problems in the midst of a pandemic that required us to limit social contact.

Abstract

Dalam menangani kasus klinis, terkadang klinisi mendapati kasus yang tidak terpetakan dalam diagnostik psikiatri terstandard (seperti DSM IV, ICD-10, PPDGJ, dll). Selain itu diagnosis standard tidak menjelaskan penyebab yang mendasari masalah pasien dan treatment yang sesuai terkait penyebab tersebut. Formulasi kasus mampu mengisi kesenjangan antara diagnosis dan treatment. Formulasi kasus klinis merupakan hal yang sangat penting dan disorot dalam banyak buku dan artikel. Penelitian tentang penerapan formulasi kasus klinis belum banyak dituliskan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan penerapan formulasi kasus klinis kepada Subjek dengan keluhan respon fisiologis ketika menghadapi stresor menggunakan formulasi kasus yang dikembangkan oleh Ingram. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kombinasi (mixed-method) dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, scaling, dan alat tes psikologi (grafis, SSCT, dan CFIT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penerapan formulasi kasus klinis terhadap Subjek dengan keluhan respon fisiologis ketika menghadapi stresor menggunakan formulasi kasus yang dikembangkan Ingram dapat membantu: (1) merumuskan gejala atau masalah yang perlu diubah; (2) menyusun data dan informasi yang diperoleh; (3) menyusun skema konseptual yang memberikan penjelasan; dan (4) mengambil keputusan treatment yang mengarah pada prosedur spesifik. Dengan demikian, penerapan formulasi kasus klinis yang dikembangkan oleh Ingram terbukti efektif untuk menangani Subjek dengan keluhan respon fisiologis ketika menghadapi stresor.

Abstract

Students who memorize the Qur'an in carrying out their duties on campus and in Islamic boarding schools simultaneously make students inconsistent with the process of memorizing the Qur'an. It takes motivation and self-concept to minimize procrastination by knowing self-image through experiences from interactions with the environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of self-concept, motivation, procrastination in students who memorized the Qur'an and the relationship between self-concept and procrastination, motivation and procrastination, as well as self-concept and motivation with delays in memorizing students. The method used is quantitative with a purposive sampling technique. The research sample amounted to 58 people. The scale used is CVR (Content Validity Ratio) and then analyzed using Pearson correlation calculations. The results showed a negative and significant relationship between self-concept and memorization procrastination. This is indicated by the correlation coefficient (rxy) of -0.536 with p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The higher the self-concept of students, the lower the procrastination of memorizing students. While the results of the study between memorization motivation and memorization procrastination showed a positive correlation. This is indicated by the correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0.461 with p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results indicate no significant correlation between memorization motivation and memorization procrastination.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap gambaran motivasi berprestasi pada mahasiswa yang telah melewati masa studi 4 tahun. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah dua orang mahasiswa Jurusan Psikologi Universitas Airlangga yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kualitatif pendekatan studi kasus dengan proses pengambilan data menggunakan teknik wawancara serta menggunakan teknik analisis tematik dengan theory driven. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa pilihan, usaha, dan ketekunan pada mahasiswa tidak selalu berorientasi pada hal akademik namun juga dapat berorientasi pada hal-hal non-akademik. Kedua subjek pada penelitian ini memiliki pola yang sama dalam orientasi motivasi berprestasi beserta perubahannya dari masa SMA, masa kuliah 4 tahun dan masa setelah melewati waktu studi 4 tahun. Adanya perubahan orientasi motivasi berprestasi ini dapat disebabkan oleh berbagai macam factor. Pada subjek penelitian ini, faktor yang tampak adalah kebutuhan afiliasi, kebutuhan otonomi, dan tuntutan dari standar pendidikan. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa motivasi berprestasi mahasiswa dapat mengarah pada prestasi akademik dan prestasi non-akademik. Usaha dan ketekunan yang dilakukan kemudian akan sejalan dengan pilihan fokus prestasi yang telah dipilih sebelumnya.
