Abstract

This study aims to know the student’s ability in writing narrative text in terms of content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics mastery at the eightth grade of SMP Negeri  2 Tambangan and to know why the students’ ability in writing narrative text in terms of content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics mastery are low at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Tambangan. The research was conducted by using mix method(quantitative and qualitative research) with 9 students as the informants. The documentation and interview were used in collecting the data. Based on data analysis, it could be found (a)the result of the from their ability in writing narrative text in terms of content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics still below the criteria minimum (KKM). The average all of the participants just on average 65 while the KKM value demanded that they must except to get the score on the average of criteria minimum at 75. and b) The result of the data finding showed that most of the students are unable in writing narrative text includes in content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics. It is proved from their score n writing narrative text are still below the KKM.  and c)Based on the writer’s interview to the 9 informants, most of students  think writing is difficult skill for them because they have limited understanding in vocabulary, grammar and tenses mastery.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to see if the Information Search strategy has a significant impact on students' reading comprehension of analytical exposition texts in eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sorkam in the 2020/2021 Academic Year. This study employs an experimental approach with a pre-experimental research design, as well as a pretest-posttest design for one group. There are 187 students in the eleventh grade, therefore the population is made up entirely of them. Purposivesampling is the sampling technique utilized in this study, and the sample size is 31 students. The researcher collects data using an observation sheet for data on the implementation of the Information Search technique and a test for data on the students' reading comprehension of an analytical exposition text. The use of the Information Search approach yielded a score of 3.5, which is considered "very good." Before adopting the Information Search approach, the mean score of the students'reading comprehension of analytical exposition material. Before using the Information Search strategy, the students' reading comprehension of analytical exposition text had a mean score of 55, which was categorized as "Bad." Meanwhile, it was categorized as "Good" after using the Information Search strategy with a score of 70. The researcher uses the ttest formula to analyze the data using the statistical process. Based on the data that was analyzed, the data analysis revealed that ttest is superior to ttable (ttest9.02> ttable 2.04). As a result, the hypothesis has been accepted. It means that in the 2020/2021 Academic Year, there is a considerable influence of Information Search method on students' reading comprehension of analytical exposition text at SMA Negeri 1 Sorkam eleventh grade students.

Abstract

The purposes of the research are to know the students’ error on using lexicogrammatical features in writing explanation text ability at the Fourth Semester of English Department of Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan and to know why the students made errors in using lexicogrammatical features in writing explanation text ability. The method which is used in this research is mixed method. The informants of this research are the fourth semester of English department which consisted of 15 students that was taken by using purposive sampling. Purposive sampling is used to get the informants by using certain criteria, where in this research the writer got the informants by error criteria. The instruments are used in this research are test, observation and interview. The lexicogrammatical features error analysis of students has done into three elements, they are: simple present tense, conjunction and passive voice. The result of data description shows that simple present tense was the error which most dominant that is made by the students. It took 63.0% of the total errors. Moreover, 23.0% error in conjunction used and 13.8% errors in passive voice. The causes of students’ errors in using lexicogrammatical features are lack of understanding about simple present tense, conjunction and passive voice; lack of awareness; interference of first language; carelessness (lack of motivation) and translation

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to found out: 1) The application of Climbing Grammar Mountain Game on Students’ Lexicogrammatical Features of Personal Recount Text Mastery, 2) The Students’ Lexicogrammatical Features of Personal Recount Text Mastery before and after using Climbing Grammar Mountain Game, 3) Whether there is any significant effect of Climbing Grammar Mountain Game on Lexicogrammatical Features of Personal Recount Text Mastery at the Eighth Grade Students of MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan.This research used experimental method with the pre-experimental designusing one-group pretest posttest design. The population of this research was the VIII grade students consist of 156 students and the samples were 25 students gotten by using purposive sampling. The writer used observation sheet and test as an instrument. The result of this research: 1) The application of climbing grammar mountain game was 3.7, it was categorized “Good”, 2) the mean score pretest of students’ lexicogrammatical features of personal recount text was 53,2 it was categorized “Bad”. Meanwhile after using climbing grammar mountain game was 73,4 it was categorized “Good”. 3) The result of data analysis showed that ttest= 10.6, while the table df score of ttable 5% significant level was 2.06. It means that ttest was higher than ttable(10.6> 2.06). So, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that, there is significant effect of using climbing grammar mountain game on students’ lexicogrammatical features of personal recount text mastery at the eighth grade students of MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan 2021/2022 Academic year.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the digital literacy abilities of students at the South Tapanuli Institute of Education in terms of the length of study and gender. This research is quantitative and descriptive. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that students with different lengths of study and gender have different abilities to use technology. The achievement percentage for functional skills and beyond is 85% and 87% respectively, with males achieving 75% and females achieving 78%. The ability to find and select information is in the "very good" category with an achievement percentage of 85% and 87%. For critical thinking and evaluation, students in semester 5 achieved 65%, while students in semester 7 achieved 72%. Males achieved 75% and females achieved 78%. For cultural and social understanding, students in semester 5 achieved 50%, while students in semester 7 achieved 50%. Males achieved 53% and females achieved 40%. For e-safety, students in semester 5 achieved 70%, while students in semester 7 achieved 73%. Males achieved 70% and females achieved 72%. The results of the study also show that the comparison of digital literacy abilities of students with different lengths of study, semester 7 is greater than semester 5. The value of digital literacy for females is 87% higher than the value for digital literacy for males, which is 85%. Keywords: literacy digital; students; length of study; gender

Abstract

Pentingnya belajar bahasa inggris pada usia dini dikarenakan bahasa inggris merupakan bahasa International. Metode belajar pada anak usia dini adalah belajar sambil bermain karena dapat memudahkan untuk menerima informasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menciptakan suasana belajar bahasa inggris melalui game yang dapat membantu mempermudah siswa dalam mengingat kosakata serta dapat meningkatkat kemauan siswa dalam belajar. Pada saat anak belajar dengan metode konvensional maka anak akan susah memahami dan cepat bosan karena anak belajar dari buku dan mendengarkan penjelasan tetapi dengan adanya metode belajar dengan games simon says ini diharapkan akan memudahkan anak dalam mempelajari, memahami dan menguasai bahasa asing. Selain memudahkan mengingat kosakata, permainan ini juga melatih pendengaran. Hasil penelitian ini mendapat respon positif, anak menikmati pembelajaran dengan antusias. Sekitar 80% nilai presentasi anak mengingat dan dapat menjawab pertanyaan pada pertemuan selanjutnya.

Abstract

Dalam menyikapi permasalahan yang dihadapi pelaku usaha wisata, dosen dan mahasiswa program studi pendidikan bahasa inggris memberikan solusi yaitu, 1) memberikan edukasi bahasa inggris sederhana berupa brosur yang berisi beberapa percakapan bahasa inggris dalam menghadapi pengunjung baik untuk satpam, pegawai serta seluruh unsur yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini. 2) memberikan ruang dan waktu bagi mahasiswa mengamati dan melakukan observasi lingkungan objek wisata serta melakukan wawancara terhadap pelaku usaha wisata yang bertujuan mengidentifikasi dan mengamati fasilitas dan bentuk kegiatan kegiatan yang terjadi di objek wisata tersebut.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat belajar bahasa Inggris anak usia dini dengan menggunakan permainan Shake and Say (SaS) dengan penggunaan dadu dan gambar sebagai medianya. Subjek Penelitian ini adalah anak anak di TK Madina Padangsidimpuan dengan total siswa 16 orang sedangkan objek penelitian ini adalah peningkatan minat belajar bahasa Inggris anak anak usia dini. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan tes. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah permainan Shake and Say (SaS) pada anak anak usia dini sangat cocok digunakan untuk meningkatkan minat belajar Bahasa Inggris bagi anak anak usia dini serta untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa mengenai kosakata bahasa Inggris di sekitar lingkungan anak anak. Permainan ini sangat menarik minat anak anak untuk belajar bahasa Inggris karena simple dan kapan waktu saja bisa dilakukan dan menggunakan alat yang mudah ditemui ataupun dibuat senidiri. Tim PkM mempersentasikan keberhasilan permainan ini dalam menarik minat belajar anak anak mencapai 85% keberhasilannya.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to know: 1) the application of learning cell strategy in teaching reading comprehension of narrative text, 2) the students’ reading comprehension before and after using learning cell strategy, 3) whether there is any significant effect of learning cell strategy on teaching reading comprehension of narrative text at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan. This research used quantitative method with the pre-experimental research design by using one-group pretest and posttest design. The population of this research was all of the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan which consist of 83 students. the sample were XI MIA 2 which consist of 20 students which taken by purposive sampling. In collecting data the researcher used observation sheet and test and as instruments. The result of this research: 1) the application of learning cell strategy was 3.75, it was categorized “very good”. 2) the mean score of the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text was 49,5 and it was categorized “fail”. Meanwhile, after using learning cell strategy was 75,5, it is categorized “good”. 3) the result of data analysis showed that t-count>t-table (8.998>2.09). futhermore, the hypothesis was accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of learning cell strategy on students reading comprehension of narrative text at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 8 Padangsidempuan.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to find out: 1) the extent of using task-based learningmethod in teaching writing advertisement text at the eighthgrade students of SMPNegeri1 Badiri. 2) the extent of the students’ writing advertisement text before and afterusing task-based learning method on students’ writing advertisement text ability at theeighthgrade students of SMP Negeri 1 Badiri. 3) whether there is a significant effect ofusing task-based learning method on students’ writing advertisement text ability at theeighthgrade students of SMP Negeri 1 Badiri. The population of this research were all theeighthgrade students of SMP Negeri 1 Badiri totaling 242 students. The sample was theclass VIII4 students, which consist of 32 students who were taken by purposive sampling.The data collected by using observation sheet and test. The results of this research: 1)The use of task-based learning method was 3.6, it was categorized “very good”. 2) Themean score of the students’ writing advertisement text ability before using task-basedlearning method was 54.12, it was categorized “bad”. Meanwhile, after using task-basedlearning method was 85.4 it was categorized “very good”. 3) the results of data analysisshowed that the ttest is higher than ttable (ttest 15.52> ttable 2.04). The hypothesis wasaccepted. It means that there is a significant effect of tas-based learning method onstudents’ writing advertisement text ability at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri1 Badiri in2022/2023 academic year
