Abstract

The objective of this research entitled The Problems of 3 Years Old Children in Pronouncing Consonant was todescribe the phonological process of an infant and to describe the reason why he produces [ r ] sound becomes [ l ] sound.This research applied the descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research is a child in three years old, namelyDamar.In collecting data, Damar is asked to pronounce some words which contain “r” in it. After he pronounced thewords, the researcher recorded it and transcripted it. The results of this research showed that A child is not born being ableto produce all the sounds and sound patterns of his/her language. As a child is learning how to speak English, he willsimplify sounds and sound patterns. For this research, Damar has disorder in producing the sound. And the sounds deviateto the other sounds which are produced in the same area, that is “r” and “l.”

Abstract

The purposes of this research is to find out whether there is away significant effect of plusminus interesting method on students’ achievement in writing analytical exposition text at theeleventh grade of students SMK Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan. This research was conducted by usingexperimental method is one group pretest-posttest design.The population of this research is all of theeleventh grade students technique computer of SMK Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan that consist of 71students. Then, the sample was taken from the population by cluster sampling technique, thetechnique for collecting data is by observation sheet and giving essay test and the total sample is 34students.After calculating the data experiment analysis, it was found that the mean score of studentswriting analytical exposition before taught by using plus minus interesting method is 60,75, it iscategorized “Fair”, while the mean score of students writing analytical exposition after taught byusing plus minus interesting method is 80, it is categorized “Excellent”.The alternative hypothesiscan be accepted. Wherre the result of hyphotesis test shows that t test is 10,83, while the samples are34 students or N = 34 students. The degree of freedom (df) is N- 1 =34-1 = 33. The score df of t tableat 5% significant level from 33 is 2,03. So, from the based on the explanation above t test is higherthan t table (t test > t table= 10,83 > 2,03). It can be concluded that is a significant effect of PMI Methodon students’ achievement in writing analytical exposition text at the eleventh grade of SMK Negeri1 Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out: 1) To what extent is the application of visual media on students’ writing procedure text a study at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sibabangun. 2) To what extent  is the  students’ writing mastery of procedure text before and after using visual media a study at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sibabangun. 3) Whether there is significant effect of visual media on students’ writing mastery of procedure text a study at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sibabangun. In order to achieve the purpose of the research, the writer carried the quantitative approach by applying experimental research method with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population was all of the tenth grade students consist of 187 students. The writer used cluster sampling technique to get the sample consists of 30 students. The data was collected by using instrument namely observation sheet and essay test. In this research, the writer used observation sheet about the application of visual media on students’ writing procedure text, the mean score 3.2, and it was categorized “good”. And then the writer used ttest in pre-test and post-test design formula. After calculating data, it was found that the mean score of students in pre-test was 59 and it is categorized “bad”. While the mean score of students in post-test is 74 and it was categorized “good”.  The result of  ttest bigger than ttable (10.63>2.05). It means that the hypothesis is accepted. It means, there is a significant effect of visual media on students’ writing mastery of procedure text at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sibabangun.

Abstract

 The objectives of this research are to know the students’ errors in using lexicogrammatical features in writing recount text at tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan and to know why the students made errors in using lexico grammatical features in writing recount text and  to know how the efforts done by the English teacher to overcome difficulties of students in using lexicogrammatical features in writing recount text. The informants of this research are six students from X-4 class. The method which is used in this research is descriptive analysis. Firstly, students were given test which had to choose one of the topics, the students wrote a recount text based on the topics chosen and the writer collected their papers then analyzed it. The result of this research is finding errors in proper noun, pronoun, past tense, adjective, action verbs, conjunction and time connective then adverb. But, the most common errors which found is are using past tense, using pronoun and using adjective (adjective order). The causes of students’ errors in using lexicogrammatical features in writing recount text is carelessness (lack motivation), first language interference and translation (word by word) and the efforts of English teacher to overcome the difficulties in using lexicogrammatical features in writing recount text is by doing repetition in teaching recount text especially lexicogrammatical feature, using demonstration method, using media, and the last is always giving task and homework at the end of every meet.Keywords : Error Analysis, Recount Text, Lexicogrammatical Features, Writing.Abstrak        Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan siswa dalam menggunakan fitur leksikogrammatik dalam menulis teks recount pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan dan untuk mengetahui mengapa siswa membuat kesalahan dalam menggunakan fitur lexicogrammatical dalam menulis teks recount dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana upaya yang dilakukan oleh guru bahasa Inggris untuk mengatasi kesulitan siswa dalam menggunakan fitur lexicogrammatical dalam menulis teks recount. Informan penelitian ini adalah enam siswa dari kelas X-4. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif. Pertama, siswa diberi tes yang harus memilih salah satu topik, siswa menulis teks recount berdasarkan topik yang dipilih dan penulis mengumpulkan kertas mereka kemudian menganalisanya. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah menemukan kesalahan dalam kata benda, kata benda, past tense, kata kerja, verba aksi, konjungsi, dan waktu konektif kemudian kata keterangan. Tapi, kesalahan paling umum yang ditemukan adalah menggunakan bentuk lampau, menggunakan kata ganti dan menggunakan kata sifat (kata sifat). Penyebab kesalahan siswa dalam menggunakan fitur lexicogrammatical dalam menulis teks recount adalah kecerobohan (kurangnya motivasi), gangguan bahasa pertama dan terjemahan (kata demi kata) dan upaya guru bahasa Inggris untuk mengatasi kesulitan dalam menggunakan fitur lexicogrammatical dalam menulis teks recount adalah dengan melakukan pengulangan dalam mengajar teks recount terutama fitur lexicogrammatical, menggunakan metode demonstrasi, menggunakan media, dan yang terakhir selalu memberikan tugas dan pekerjaan rumah pada setiap akhir pertemuan.Kata Kunci: Analisis Kesalahan, Teks Recount, Fitur Leksikogrammatik, Menulis

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan: 1) kesulitan pemahaman membaca teks deskriptif yang dihadapi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Barumun Tengah tahun ajaran 2020/2021, 2) faktor kesulitan pemahaman membaca teks deskriptif yang dihadapi. oleh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Barumun Tengah tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes dan wawancara. Triangulasi digunakan untuk memeriksa keabsahan data . Hasil penelitian ini adalah 1) kesulitan siswa dalam memahami bacaan teks deskriptif sangat buruk dengan skor rata-rata 31,87% persentase salah pada ide pokok 22,93%, salah pada informasi spesifik 15,60%, salah dalam kosakata 26,60%, salah referensi 19,27%, salah menyimpulkan 15,60%. 2) Faktor-faktor kesulitan siswa adalah motivasi siswa dalam membaca pemahaman teks deskriptif sangat rendah, alat bantu belajar siswa sangat penting untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran, lingkungan belajar siswa sangat berpengaruh terhadap kesulitan membaca siswa.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) Penggunaan dari TBL (Task Based Learning) method dalam pembelajaran membaca teks naratif, 2) kemampuan siswa memahami teks naratif sebelum dan setelah menggunakan metode TBL (Task Based Learning)3) Apakah terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari metode TBL (Task Based Learning) terhadap kemampuan siswa membaca teks naratif di kelas VIII SMP Negeri3 Satu Atap Andam Dewi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimendesign dengan menggunakan one group pretest and posttest design.Populasi dari penelitian ini semua kelas VIII yang terdiri 60 siswa dan sampel terdiri dari 30 siswa yang diambil secara porposive sampling. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan lembar observasi dan instrument tes. Hasil penelitian ini adalah1) penggunaan metode TBL (Task Based Learning) adalah 3.4, dikategorikan “sangat baik”. 2) Nilai rata-rata siswa sebelum menggunakan metodeTBL (Task Based Learning)adalah 36,6, dikategorikan “gagal”. Sementara setelahmenggunakan metode TBL (Task Based Learning) adalah 71, dikategorikan “baik”. 3)ada pengaruh yang significant dalam penggunaan metode TBL (Task Based Learning) terhadap kemampuan siswa membaca teks naratif di kelas VIII SMP Negeri3 Satu Atap Andam Dewi.Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa ttest lebih besar dari ttable (ttest 12.46>ttable 2.04). Jadi, hipotesis diterima. Artinya, ada pengaruh yang signifikan darimetode TBL (Task Based Learning)terhadap pemahaman siswamembaca teks naratif di kelas delapan SMP Negeri SMP Negeri3 Satu Atap Andam Dewi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which the use of graphic organizer techniques in teaching students to write in recount texts, the extent to which students' writing skills in recount texts before and after using graphic organizer techniques, and to determine whether there is a significant effect between graphic organizer techniques on writing skills. students in the recount text at class X SMA Negeri 1 Manduamas. This research was conducted using an experimental method (pretest posttest one group design) with a sample of 26 students and taken by purposive sampling technique from 2 classes as the population. Tests and questionnaires were used in data collection. Based on data analysis, it can be seen that the average use of the graphic organizer technique in students' learning to write in recount text is 79 with the "good" category, and the average score of students in writing recount text before and after using the graphic organizer technique in class X SMA Negeri 1 Manduamas is 46 categorized as "enough". Furthermore, based on inferential statistics using the author's test found the test is smaller than t table (19.34 > 2.06). That is, there is a significant effect of using graphic organizer techniques on students' writing skills in recount texts in class X SMA Negeri 1 Manduamas.
