Abstract

Macroalgae have ecological and economic benefits both directly and indirectly, so they have great potential to be developed. This study aimed to determine the types, abundance and diversity of macroalgae in the coastal waters of Talawaan Bajo. Sampling used the line transect method with a quadratic sampling technique. The data that had been collected was analyzed used descriptive statistical analysis. There were 21 species of macroalgae consisted of Chlorophyta six species (29%), Rhodophyta twelve species (57%), and Phaeophyta three species (14%). The highest density was found in the class Rhodophyta. There were no dominating species and the uniformity value was high and in stable condition. The diversity index was classified as moderate. Research result showed that environmental factors in Talawaan Bajo Waters were favorable for macroalgae growth. Keywords: Structure community, Rhodophyta, Chlorophyta, Phaeophyta, biodiversity

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the feasibility of the location for cultivating spiny lobsters (Panulirus spp.) in Pulisan Village waters, East Likupang District, North Minahasa Regency. This research was an explorative and descriptive research using primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected through direct observation, site surveys, and interviews, while secondary data was collected from various available sources such as reports, research, books guidebooks, citing records in of Pulisan Village, East Likupang District Office, and various literature.  Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and internal and external factor analysis (SWOT). The results of the analysis showed that the location of spiny lobster cultivation met the SNI 8116 (2015) standard regarding sand spiny lobster (Panulirus pomarus) production. The strength–opportunity strategy is to protect the location and its surroundings where the existing habitat of the spiny lobster occurs, so the production will be gained and therefore the market price will be high.  The weakness–opportunity strategy is how government involvement in supporting the development of spiny lobster aquaculture.  Next, the strength–threat strategy is to maximize the use of high technology to overcome the unpredictable weather and season.  Finally, the weakness–threat strategy is to inspire and encourage local people about the benefits of doing spiny lobster aquaculture and how to overcome any problems.  Keywords: SWOT, water quality, aquaculture

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine differences in the growth of silkworm biomass (Tubifex sp.) in mixed media of sludge, chicken manure, fermented tofu dregs with EM-4 solution with different concentrations. This research was conducted at the Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University, Manado. The method used in this study was an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, and each treatment had 3 replications. The results showed that the absolute weight gain of silk worms (Tubifex sp.) was highest in treatment medium B which resulted in an average absolute growth of 11.83 grams of biomass, and the best relative growth of silk worms was in treatment B (591.83%). The water quality parameter as supporting data in this study is the temperature of 27.7℃ - 28,4℃, pH 4.7-5.2, and DO 5.9-6.4 mg/l. based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the treatment of tofu dregs fermentation with EM-4 solution at different concentrations for silkworm culture media (Tubifex sp.) had a very significant effect on the absolute growth of silk worms and the relative growth of silk worms. Keywords: biomass, absolute growth, running water system

Abstract

The aim of the research was to analyze the nitrogen and phosphorus content in sediments in the cultivation area of Toulimembet Village. This research method is "survey" determining sampling points "purposive sampling" taking into account that the research location is a fish cultivation area with a floating net system, and data is obtained using primary data and secondary data. Primary data collected were in situ measurements of water quality parameters (temperature, turbidity, TDS, pH, DO) in the Toulimembet Village cultivation area and sediment analysis (Nitrogen and Phosphorus) at the Manado Standardization Research Center Laboratory (BARISTAND). Secondary data was obtained from various sources such as journals and previous research reports. Based on research results in Toulimembet Village, Kakas District, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province, nitrogen (0.78-1.16%), phosphorus (0.04-0.08%), temperature (25.73-27.01°C), turbidity (4.03-4.90 NTU), TDS (0.160-0.164 g/l), pH (7.89-10.52), DO (7. 20-12.67 mg/L), ammonia (0.07 mg/L), phosphate (0.0030-0.0158 mg/L), nitrite (0.069-0.295 mg/L) are still suitable for cultivation activities. Keywords: Fish culture, water quality, floating net cage, eutrophication

Abstract

The fishery sector which has great profit prospects can still be developed by cultivating fish better by paying attention to the condition of the water quality. In fish farming, it is very important to study water quality conditions because water quality parameters are a limiting and life-supporting factor for the types of aquatic biota cultivated in a waters including tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus. This research was conducted to assess water quality, both physical, chemical, and aquatic biology of Lake Tondano to support the feasibility test activities of Lake Tondano waters for Cage Netting Cage cultivation media. The research method used was purposive sampling. Primary data comes from primary data which is the result of measurements of physico-chemical parameters of water quality directly in the field (in situ) and supported by secondary data on several physical and chemical parameters of Lake Tondano waters as well as data on water quality of the cultivation media with the Netting Cage system. The physical and chemical parameters of Lake Tondano waters at the three stations were analyzed using the suitability scoring method for the location of Tondano Lake waters to be used as a maintenance medium fish with a Stuck Net Containment system. The results of the study concluded that the physical and chemical quality of water in Urongo waters was suitable for net cage culture. Keywords: physical-chemical parameters, Lake Tondano, aquaculture, Nile tilapia

Abstract

This study aimed to inventory the parasites that attack vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) and to determine and determine the prevalence and incidence rates of parasites that infect vaname shrimp. The research was carried out at CV. Pasifik Delyano Farm, Iyok Village, District. Bolangitang, Kab. North Mongondow. Parasite identification is carried out in the Laboratory of Aquaculture Technology FPIK Unsrat. The test animals used in this rstudy were vannamei shrimp with a weight ranging from 7-10 grams with a length of 10-15 cm. The number of shrimp samples taken was 10 in the pond. Methods for examining and observing ectoparasites were carried out on the gills, walking legs, swimming legs, and tail of vannamei shrimp and then identified to obtain prevalence and incidence rates. The observation results were then analyzed using prevalence and incidence rate formulas. Based on the research results, two types of parasites were found that infect shrimp, walking legs, swimming legs, and tail, namely Vorticella and Zootanium. Prevalence rates based on parasite type were obtained in Vorticella sp. 40% and Zoothamnium sp 30% in the category of infections that generally occur while the prevalence rate based on organs, swimming legs was higher (0.4%) than in tail (0.3%) and walking legs (0.2%). based on the level of parasite incidence in all observed shrimp organs, Zoothamnium sp. was higher than Vorticella sp.  Keywords: diseases, parasites, aquaculture, intensive cultivation
