Abstract

AbstractBecause of its cryptic nature apocalypse Daniel 7 has been interpreted in many ways. Often it is linked to the end of time teachings. This kind of interpretation is problematic. First, while emphasizing the dark side of the prophecy, it fails to capture its main intention which is optimism toward the future. Second, apocalypse contains dualistic ideas, but, they are not supposed to be separated, let alone taking one side over the other. Apocalyptic dualism should be treated as an oscillating, always negotiating positions, tensional but creativecollisions. This article shows a reading of apocalypse that reveals dualism as an integrated entity. It also considers theological consequences of such a reading. While being placed within the world’s history, God is deeply involved in worldly drama which consists of tragedy, as well as, comedy. On the political side, this reading demonstrates that imperial history does not run by itself, but, always prones to subversive movements. AbstrakApokalips Daniel 7 telah menimbulkan banyak penafsiran karena kemisteriusannya. Dari sekian banyak penafsiran terdapat kecenderungan untuk mengaitkannya dengan ajaran-ajaran tentang akhir zaman. Penafsiran seperti ini problematis. Pertama, dengan menekankan pada sisi gelap dari nubuatan di teks itu, penafsiran semacam itu telah gagal untuk menangkap maksud utamanya, yaitu sikap optimis terhadap masa depan. Kedua, apokalips mengandung gagasan-gagasan dualistik, namun gagasan-gagasan tersebut tidak seharusnya dipisahkan apalagi diambil salah satunya saja. Dualisame dari apokalips seharusnya dilihatsebagai osilasi, sebagai posisi-posisi yang selalu bernegosiasi, terkadang menegang namun menghasilkan kreativitas. Tulisan ini memperlihatkan dualisme apokalips sebagai entitas yang integratif. Juga mempertimbangkan konsekuensi teologisnya. Dengan menempatkan Tuhan dalam sejarah kehidupan, Tuhan juga dilihat terlibat aktif dalam drama kehidupan yang terdiri dari tragedi di samping komedi. Di sisi politik, pembacaan ini mengungkapkan sejarah imperialisme tidak berjalan sendiri namun selalu disandingi oleh gerakan subversif.

Abstract

Abstract This article highlights a critical question: why is Pentecostal-Charismatic leadership vulnerable to various scandals? This model of leadership often exposes the dark side of leadership characterized by the issues of money, sex, and power. This study suggests that Pentecostal-Charismatic leaders are often trapped in the model of personalized charismatic leadership that is based on misinterpretation of the doctrine of being Spirit-filled. The method used in this article is that of practical theology relating the framework of socialized charismatic leadership to the theological concept of the church (ekklesia) as the body of Christ and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Abstrak Tulisan ini menyoroti pertanyaan kritis: mengapa kepemimpinan Pentakostal-Karismatik rentan terkena berbagai skandal? Model kepemimpinan ini acap kali memunculkan sisi gelap kepemimpinan yang ditandai oleh masalah-masalah keuangan, seksual, dan kekuasaan. Kajian ini mengungkapkan bahwa para pemimpin Pentakostal-Karismatik seringkali terjebak dalam model personalized charismatic leadership yang didasari oleh penafsiran yang keliru atas doktrin being Spirit-filled. Metode tulisan ini termasuk dalam ranah teologi praktis yang mengaitkan kerangka berpikir socialized charismatic leadership dengan konsep teologis tentang gereja (ekklesia) sebagai tubuh Kristus dan persekutuan Roh Kudus.

Abstract

Abstract This essay going to argue that Raimundo Panikkar's concept of Cosmotheandric Intuition has strong significance in forming an economics spirituality. Economics system nowadays tend to become a system of greediness. By considering cosmology concept such as cosmotheandric intuition and its significant relation, writer made a counter spirituality to all of negative effect of capitalism economics. At the first part of this paper will briefly explain about Raimundo Panikkar and his proposal of Cosmotheandric Intuition. After showing problems in contemporary economics discourse, this paper explain the meaning of spirituality, as a basis understanding to form an economics spirituality. At the part of analysis about economics spirituality, writer wrote counter arguments to capitalist economics system based on Cosmotheandric Intuition. Therefore writer find it usefull to form an economics spirituality based on it. Abstrak Tesis tulisan ini adalah konsep Intuisi Cosmotheandris dari Raimundo Panikkar bisa menjadi bahan yang baik untuk membentuk sebuah spiritualitas ekonomi. Sistem ekonomi masa kini semakin menjadi sistem keserakahan. Dengan mempertimbangkan konsep kosmologis seperti Intuisi Kosmotheandris dan relasinya yang mendalam, penulis membuat sebuah pertimbangan spiritualitas sebagai argumen balik untuk efek-efek negatif dari ekonomi kapitalis. Pada bagian pertama dari makalah ini, penulis akan secara singkat menjelaskan tentang sosok Raimundo Panikkar dan usulannya tentang Intuisi Kosmotheandris. Setelah memperlihatkan masalah-masalah kontemporer dari diskursus ekonomi, makalah kemudian menjelaskan makna dari spiritualitas sebagai pengertian dasar untuk merumuskan sebuah spiritualitas ekonomi. Pada bagian analisis tentang spiritualitas ekonomi, penulis mencantumkan argumen balik terhadap sistem ekonomi kapitalis berdasarkan Intuisi Kosmotheandrik dengan menjelaskan beberapa tema khusus yang mempunyai kaitan dengan hal tersebut. Berdasarkan hal itu, penulis menemukan bahwa konsep Intuisi Kosmotheandris berguna untuk membentuk sebuah spiritualitas ekonomi.

Abstract

AbstractThe development of incarnation theology has taken into account people with disabilities. However, the incarnation tends to be understood in a single corporeal identity, whilst disability shows the multiplicity of identities of socially constructed bodies. How do we see the incarnation in a disability perspective that embraces the multiplicity of body identity? Mayra Rivera, based on Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy, spoke of intercarnation as an alternative to the incarnation in a social perspective. This article points out that discussing the incarnation in the perspective of disability with a social model leads to the idea of intercarnation. In dealing with this case, the discourse about intercanation among feminist theologians would be helpful for the theology of disability. AbstrakPengembangan teologi inkarnasi telah memperhitungkan faktor orang-orang dengan disabilitas. Akan tetapi, inkarnasi cenderung dipahami dalam sebuah identitas korporeal tunggal, padahal disabilitas menunjukkan adanya multiplisitas identitas tubuh yang dikonstruksi secara sosial. Bagaimana melihat inkarnasi dalam perspektif disabilitas yang merangkul multiplisitas identitas tubuh? Mayra Rivera, yang berangkatdari filsafat Maurice Merleau-Ponty, berbicara tentang interkarnasi sebagai sebuah alternatif terhadap perbincangan inkarnasi dalam perspektif sosial. Artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa membahas inkarnasi dalam perspektif disabilitas dengan model sosial akan mencapai gagasan tentang interkarnasi. Dalam mengkaji hal ini, diskursus tentang interkarnasi yang selama ini didominasi oleh teolog-teolog feminis akan bermanfaat bagi teologi disabilitas.

Abstract

AbstractIn understanding the theologizing process, the foci are not only on the reality, but also on the means or tools to understand the reality. This article intends to explain the means or tools of theologizing process according to Paul Ricoeur. As a process what at stake is not only the method, but also the methodology, namely the thinking process, the interest of the subject and the premises on certain values. The guiding question is what is Ricoeur’s theologizing methodology, i.e. his hermeneutics? Through dialogue with many parties, Ricoeur found the methodology of reading reality is started with an affirmation and ended with a critic toward the distortion of reality; this is an affirmative-critical position. However, this methodology is inadequate to comprehend an extremely distorted reality. Hence, the present article offers a reversal move of theologizing process, by prioritizing the critical position toward the distorted reality and following up with the affirmation process by uncovering the element of hope of a good and just life. Ultimately, the theologizing process requires a dialectical methodology of reading the reality, between the critical-affirmative and affirmative-critical positions. The priority of the option is determined by the contextual challenges at hand.  AbstrakDalam mengerti proses berteologi, perhatian kita tidak hanya tertuju pada realitas, melainkan juga pada sarana atau alat untuk memahami realitas. Tulisan ini bermaksud menjelaskan alat atau sarana dalam proses berteologi menurut Paul Ricoeur untuk digunakan memahami realitas. Sebagai sebuah proses, maka yang mau disentuh tidak hanya soal metode, melainkan metodologi, yaitu proses berpikir, kepentingan yang diusung, dan premis nilai yang dicapai. Pertanyaan yang dijadikan panduan adalah apa metodologi berteologi Ricoeur, yang sering disebut hermeneutik. Melalui dialog dengan banyak mitra, Ricoeur mendapati metodologi membaca realitas dengan pertama-tama bersikap afi rmatif baru kemudian kritis terhadap distorsi. Inilah gestur afi rmatif-kritis. Namun, metodologi ini tidak memadai untuk membaca konteks yang sudah demikian parah. Dibutuhkan upaya membalik prinsip metodologi Ricoeur dengan pertama-tama mengedepankan upaya kritis terhadap distorsi atas realitas baru kemudian afi rmatif untuk menguak pengharapan akan hidup yang baik dan adil. Pada akhirnya, proses berteologi membutuhkan metodologi membaca realitas secara dialektis, antara gestur kritis-afirmatif dan afirmatif-kritis. Mana yang dikedepankan sangat ditentukan oleh tantangan konteks yang dihadapi.

Abstract

Abstract Using a recent case study, I am going to show which realities might demand adjusting research methods during every step of ethnographic field research. I am going to show that one can not be equipped with all research methods in advance. I will demonstrate via the progression of my own research why it is necessary to continuously adjust research methods to the broader situation even if it might be quite difficult. The case I present is taken from my most recent research amongst members in charismatic Pentecostal churches on Java, Indonesia. The relationship between my informants and me is evaluated. In my case study, it was necessary to recognize the importance of the cultural peculiarities of the Javanese language, in spite of the fact that Indonesian was spoken. Also the urban research field demanded special methodology. And last, but not least, the pressure informants put on the researcher by treating her as a possible proselyte demanded an unexpected sensitive approach. Abstrak Melalui studi kasus baru-baru ini, saya akan menunjukkan realitas yang mungkin memerlukan penyesuaian langkah demi langkah dari metode penelitian etnografi di lapangan. Seseorang tidak dapat menggunakan seluruh metode penelitian yang ada. Saya akan menunjukkan melalui penelitian yang saya lakukan mengapa perlu untuk terus menyesuaikan metode penelitian dalam situasi yang lebih luas bahkan jika itu mungkin cukup sulit. Kasus ini saya sajikan dari penelitian terbaru saya terhadap anggota di gereja-gereja Pantekosta Karismatik di Jawa, Indonesia. Hubungan antara narasumber saya dan saya dievaluasi. Dalam studi kasus saya, perlu untuk mengetahui pentingnya kekhasan budaya dari bahasa Jawa, terlepas dari kenyataan bahwa hal ini telah dibicarakan di Indonesia. Juga bidang penelitian perkotaan menuntut metodologi khusus. Dan terakhir, namun tidak sedikit, tekanan informan terhadap peneliti dengan memperlakukan saya sebagai seseorang yang tidak beragama menuntut dari saya pendekatan yang sensitif sekali.

Abstract

AbstractThis article discusses George L. Murphy’s argument that the development of science and technology in the early 21st Century challenges the relevance of core religious theories including theology of nature, theidea of the loving God, and humanitarian ethics. He proposes a theology of the Cross of Jesus Christ as a lens for responding to that challenge. Here Murphy’s theological perspective is put in dialogue with a perspective that departs from the trilogy films: “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, and “War for the Planet of Apes.” Employing Revised Correlational method, this article suggests a more optimistictheological reflection concerning cosmology, evolution, biotechnology, the future of humankind, and harmony. AbstrakArtikel ini membahas argumen George L. Murphy yang menilai perkembangan sains dan teknologi di awal abad ke-21 menggugat relevansi dari teori-teori keagamaan yang inti, termasuk teologi tentang alam, gagasan tentang Tuhan yang pengasih, dan etika humanitarian. Murphy mengusulkan persepektif teologi Salib Yesus Kristus sebagai lensa untuk merespon gugatan tersebut. Dalam artikel ini, pandangan Murphy didialogkandengan pandangan yang ditarik dari trilogy film “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, dan “War for the Planet of Apes”. Menggunakan metode Korelasional yang Diperbarui, studi ini menghasilkan refleksi etis-teologis yang optimisik tentang kosmologi, evolusi, bioteknologi, masa depanmanusia, dan harmoni.
