Abstract

This research aims to describe the critical thinking ability of mathematics students of class VIII of Junior High School N 2 Magelang. The subjects in the study were students of grades VIII-A and VIII-D. The research was carried out in the even semester of the 2021/2022 school year. The data collected is in the form of learning style questionnaire results, mathematical critical thinking ability tests, and interviews in an unscathodox manner. Learning style questionnaires are used to determine students' learning styles, tests to measure mathematical critical thinking ability consist of four questions about the description of polyhedron materials. The results of the questionnaire and test were then analyzed according to the indicators of mathematical critical thinking ability used in this study, namely providing basic clarification, bases for a decision, inference, advanced clarification, supposition and integration. The results of data analysis show that students' critical thinking ability in visual, auditorial, and kinesthetic learning styles is classified as moderate. The results of this study can provide information to teachers about students' critical thinking ability so that teachers are expected to be able to design learning activities that can improve students' critical thinking skills to be good.

Abstract

Most junior high school students have difficulty in solving math problems, causing students to make mistakes in solving math problems. The purpose of this study is to analyze the types of mistakes made by students in doing problems in the pythagorean theorem material. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The instruments in this study are test and interview instruments. The subjects of the study were as many as 9 students from class VIII at SMP Negeri 25 Kota Serang. The results of error analysis in this study show that students made mistakes in solving mathematical problems in the pythagorean theorem material in the form of fact errors, concept errors, principle errors and operating errors. The percentage of errors made by learners on factual errors was 17%, the percentage on conceptual errors was 44%, the percentage on principle errors was 17%, and the percentage on operating errors was 22%. The type of mistake most made by learners is the type of misconception. Concept errors occur because students do not understand the concept of pythagorean theorem material, causing students to have difficulty in solving mathematical problems in pythagorean theorem material.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify (1) effectiveness between the RME learning model and the direct learning on the ability to understand mathematical concepts, (2) the effect of different personality types on the ability to understand mathematical concepts (3) the interaction between learning models and personality types. to the ability to understand mathematical concepts. The design of this study used a quasi-experimental, namely the nonequivalent posttest-only control group. The population in study were all students of class VII SMP N 1 Magelang totaling 250 students. Sampling in study used the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire and post-test. The data analysis technique in this study used a two-way analysis of variance with unequal cells, with the prerequisites of the analysis that normality was by the Liliefors test and homogeneity was by the Barlett test. Based on hypothesis testing, the results obtained are that (1) RME learning model is more efective than direct learning in the ability to understand mathematical concepts, (2) there is no effect of different personality types on the ability to understand mathematical concepts, (3) there is an interaction between the learning model and personality type. on the ability to understand mathematical concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the problem-based learning model assisted by Student Worksheets (LKS) to improve students' mathematical connection skills on the flat side of cubes and block material. The research design of this present study is a quasi-experimental design with the research population from class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Bandongan. The samples in this study were students of class VIII B as the experimental class and VIII C as the control class. The tests used in this study were the One sample t-test and the N-Gain test to see the extent of the increase in the pre-test and post-test scores. The results of the One sample t-test showed that the average of the experimental class > minimum completeness criteria, while in the control class < minimum completeness criteria. The N-Gain test revealed that the average N-Gain value of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. The results showed that the problem-based learning model assisted by Student Worksheets (LKS) was effective in improving students' mathematical connection skills in the material for building flat sides of cubes and blocks at SMP Negeri 1 Bandongan.

Abstract

This study aims to answer whether after applying YouTube media to mathematics learning can improve students' mathematical understanding skills in class X SMK PGRI 1 Tourism Cianjur. The research method used is a quasi-experimental method with the design form The Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population of this study were students of class X SMK PGRI 1 PariwisataCianjur. Involving a sample of 31 students from two classes selected through purposive sampling technique. Class X Banking as an experimental class and class X Catering as a control class. The instrument used is a test instrument in the form of a pretest and posttest to measure the ability of mathematical understanding and non-test in the form of an attitude scale questionnaire. Quantitative data analysis in this study uses SPSS 22. The results of the analysis show that increasing mathematical understanding skills by applying YouTube media is better than mathematical understanding skills using ordinary learning.

Abstract

This purpose of the research is to describe and analyze the student abilities to solve math problems based on APOS theory in term of the student learning activities level. The instrument of this research consist of test instruments, there are written test and a non-test instrument, there were student learning activities questionnaire and interview guidelines. The data collection technique used written test with the material of polyhedron and non-test in the form of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The research subjects were students of class VIII F of SMP Negeri 1 Kota Serang and the total of the samples were six students based on purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques used the data reduction, data visualization and drawing conclusions. The result of the research showed that student abilities to solve math problems based on APOS theory, that’s students who had high categorization of learning activities tended to be able to pass all stages of APOS theory, students who had moderate categorization of learning activities tended to be able to passed through all stages from the APOS theory, the students who had learning activity categories tend to able to passed through, Actions, Processes and Objects and the students who had low categorization of learning activities tend to be able to passed through only the Action and Process.

Abstract

This research aims to determine positive and significant connection between learning motivation and parents attention with mathematics learning results of class IX SMP Negeri 1 Lendah partially and simultaneously. This type of research is correlational research. Population this research is 191 students, the sample searched by simple random sampling technique. Data learning motivation and parents attention collected by questionnaire, and students mathematics learning results obtained by documentation. The data then analyzed by t-test and F-test to determine the connection partially and simultaneously. The results showed a positive and significant connection between learning motivation with mathematics learning results; there is a positive but not significant connection between parents attention with mathematics learning results; and there is a positive and significant connection between learning motivation and parents attention with mathematics learning results.

Abstract

This study was conducted to compare the two methods of PBL and Ethnomathematics on students' creative thinking skills, and creative thinking abilities in terms of students' initial mathematical abilities. This study aims to determine which learning methods are superior in creative thinking skills. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental type of research. The method of data collection is through the initial mathematical ability test and creative thinking ability test. The research subjects are class VII 8 and VII 9 SMP in Kab. Bekasi for the 2022/2023 academic year. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the average value of students in the ethnomathematics class was better than the PBL class. However, for students with high KAM, the PBL method is more effective, because it is proven that the final score of students is higher in the PBL class. Students with medium and low KAM are better at using the ethnomathematical method for their creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Advances in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) have been used in the manufacture of learning media for various subjects. This study aims to develop a mathematics learning video using the YouTube-based VideoScribe application on statistics material for class VIII SMP and test the feasibility of the developed learning video. The research method used is the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model, namely Analysis (analysis), Design (product design), Development (product development), Implementation (implementation), and Evaluation (evaluation). The subjects of this study were 20 students of class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah Koba. The data collection instruments used in this study were media validation questionnaires (YouTube learning), student response questionnaires, and learning outcomes tests (THB). The result of this research is a product in the form of a VideoScribe-based learning video which is then uploaded to YouTube which is valid, practical, and effective. The validity test obtained a score of 3.96 with a valid category, field trials obtained a score of 3.67 with a good category and 70% of students met the KKM.

Abstract

Improving student achievement and group-work ability by applying a combination of blended learning and peer learning as the aim of this research. This research was conducted in March – July 2022. This type of research is classroom action research which consists of cycles, where each cycle has 4 stages, namely: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. This research was conducted on 8 4th semester students of the mathematics study program for the 2021/2022 academic year who took the Introduction to Demographics course. Data collection techniques used are tests and observations. The results of this study are 1) improving the results of learning achievement seen from the class average value from before the study, which was 57.87 and after the study consisting of cycle I and cycle II with an average grade of 71.5 and 80.25. 2) improve the ability of student group-work in several criteria, namely: student activity in learning, better communication methods, student contributions and responsibilities to the tasks given in groups, and the ability to express opinions/ideas. This is indicated by the results of the group-work ability data which before the research students were included in the criteria of not being good (37.5%), quite good (50%), and good (12.5%). After the action, the students were categorized as quite good (12.5%), good (25%), and very good (62.5%).
