This study aimed to produce nationalism-oriented interactive materials for news item learning in junior high school. This study employed a research and development design that consisted of seven stages, including data analysis, product design, prototype development, expert validation, product revision, small-group tryout, and final model revision. The result of the analysis showed that the interactive materials could meet the teacher’s and students’ needs in learning news item and the development of the product was in line with the principle of instructional material development. The interactive instructional materials were packaged in a compact disk (CD) containing an application called Macromedia Flash. The values of nationalism integrated in the instructional materials include the pride in the national language which is Indonesian Language, the love for the country, the spirit of preserving national songs, heroism, discipline, and hard work. This study aims to determine the construction of news texts in newspapers, especially in the dimensions of macrostructure and superstructure. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with the analysis of Teun van Dijk's critical discourse, specifically the dimensions of the text. The results showed that in reporting corruption cases in Suara Merdeka, Republika, Kompas, and Jawa Pos newspapers, journalists constructed the news cases by focusing on news themes about ongoing corruption. Meanwhile, in the superstructure dimension, a number of news scheme categories are formulated to build a story, which is a summary, which is marked by two elements namely the title and lead and story, namely the overall news content from introduction to the end.

This study aims to determine the increase in students' critical thinking skills through the implementation of a citizen education model based on character education. The method used is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of PoliteknikPertanianNegeriPangkajeneKepulauan32nd 2019 in the Agro-Industry Study Program. Data collection was performed using test and non-test techniques. The form of data analysis uses qualitative analysis. It can be concluded that the implementation of learning with the project citizen model succeeded in increasing students' critical thinking skills in MKWU learning. This is evidenced by the increase in the average percentage of critical thinking skills in both cycles. Increased students' critical thinking skills occur because the project citizen model is based on the process of involving students in identifying real problems that originate from the surrounding environment so as to stimulate the ability to reason and think reflective which is focused on deciding the things that are believed and done. In addition, indicators interact with ethics and polite language as a component of character education also increased.

After being classified and typified properly, the data was analyzed using the distributional analysis method and pragmatic identity method commonly used in a linguistic research. The research showed the following results namely (1)the cultural context to emphasize intention, (2) the cultural context to emphasize the speaker’s hope and expectation, (3) the cultural context to emphasize the speaker’s intention to convince the hearer, (4) the cultural context to emphasize the speaker’s intention to question the hearer, (5) the cultural context to emphasize the speaker’s intention to agree, (6) the cultural context to convey disappointment, (7) the cultural context to emphasize the speaker’s inconvenience.
