Abstract

Increasing the need for pure hydrogen in the industry is growing. One of its roles is in purification of petroleum industry. High purity hydrogen (99.99%) was obtained from methane using the steam methane reforming method in the hydrogen plant unit. Hydrogen is a very dangerous chemical element with its flammable properties. This research is conducted especially on purification system. Quantitative analysis is used to determine the frequency of hydrogen leakage, consequence modeling, and risk estimation that will be generated. The results of the analysis show that the highest frequency occurs in unignited release events. The jet fire scenario produces the longest fire length in the HPU about 27 meters. The jet fire scenario impact produces the farthest secure distance in the case of a leak in the HPU section of 60 meters. The flash fire produces the farthest distance loss in a leakage case in the HPU of 80 meters, and explosion at a radius of 200 meters will have a blast overpressure 7.62 psig with 22% fatality estimation of the population.

Abstract

Clove oil is usually produced from the leaves and flowers, while the twigs cloves actually have potential to be exploited. One of the latest methods that can be used is the microwave assisted extraction. The advantages of microwaves is its ability to deliver energy directly to all material, so it can save time compared to conventional extraction methods. This research aims to study the effect of solvents on the extraction using microwaves. The solvent is water because the polar so very good at absorbing microwave. The variables studied were the weight (75-150 grams) and volume of solvent (400-500 ml) , while the microwave power of 264 W. The choice of wood clove oil yield was obtained of 3.89 % on the amount of solvent to 500 ml with weight is 150 grams.

Abstract

In urban spatial planning, the Local Government prioritizes land use to support planning development. The use of available land in an area must be adjusted to the function. So far, sometimes in an area the use of available land in an area does not fit with its function. Therefore, in this research will be determined the priority and ranking of land use by using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Ranking is based on four aspect criterias: social demography, economic, spatial and regional plan (RTRW), and environmental aspect. Based on the alternatives and criteria and also subcriteria, the decision hierarchy model is made. Then it will be assessed for the comparison between criterias and subcriterias and their consistency value. The result is achieved by using Expert Choice software version 11 and analysis, it showed that the main priority of land allocation in Sidoarjo regency was used as agricultural land (31.9%).

Abstract

PT Suryagita Nusaraya is a company engaged in the field of courier services in Surabaya. Since it is a good company that has qualified employees, it continuously makes efforts for the improvement of the welfare and advancement of employees. Judging from the current phenomena, there are number of employees who violate the rules that have been set by the management of PT Suryagita Nusaraya including: not punctual, often being absence, and leaving the company during working hours. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that most affect the job satisfaction of employees of PT Suryagita Nusaraya using multiple linear method. The independent variables used are work (X1), status (X2), boss (X3), colleagues (X4), and promotion (X5), while the dependent variable is employee satisfaction (Y). Here, the method used in this research is multiple linear regression. Based on statistical data analysis, the indicators in this study are valid and are reliable variables. In the classic assumption test, the regression of multicolinierity free model, there is no heteroskedastisitas for the data and it has normal distribution. The sequence of the most influential variables individually are as follows: status (X1) with a regression coefficient of 1.095, boss (X2) with a regression coefficient of 0.644, job (X3) with a regression coefficient of 0.084, and colleagues (X4) with a regression coefficient of 0.019, while the lowest influential variable is sale (X5) with a regression coefficient of - 0.066.

Abstract

One of formulation strategy result is organization’s mission statements. On implementation step, organization’s mission statements spread and implemented in organization activities. Evaluation step needed to describe the evaluation of all organization activities based on mission statements. Overall, evaluation step needed to ensure the alignment of formulation step until implementation step. The method of Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) is here proposed to evaluate the achievement of organization’s mission statements from the external perspective. This method is implemented at the evaluation in a part of mission statements at MMT – ITS Department from the students perspective. The evaluation is about to analyze the gap between importance and performance level of the mission statements.

Abstract

The biggest problem currently in Indonesia is the amount of garbage that accumulates and is not controlled anywhere, especially organic waste. There are also many methods to use waste. One of waste utilization is Biogas. Organic content contained in organic waste can be used as a substart source for anaerobic bacteria. Initial treatment of organic waste in this study used as a variable, namely chopped and blended. This initial treatment is done before it is mixed with other ingredients, ie cattle dung and water. 200% water is added to the reactor along with other variables. Temperature, pH and biogas volume were observed for 30 days. Initial treatment factor of organic waste as biogas production substand showed blend treatment with decay having higher biogas production than others, is 189.99 cm3 with a composition ratio of 50% cattle dung and 50% organic waste.

Abstract

The study of inhibition testing antibacterial extract Fresh Red Ginger Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum Against Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coliguna to determine the source of antibacterial natural products, especially red ginger has been conducted. Anti-bacterial inhibition test using disc diffusion method with fresh red ginger rhizome material. The study was conducted using concentrations: 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. Concentration of 0% was used as a negative control. The data obtained will be tested statistically using ANOVA with sig. 0.05. The results showed that the extraction of fresh red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum) at a concentration of 100% has the highest inhibitory region to S. aureus (15.83 mm) and E. coli (14:22 mm). It can be concluded that the extract of fresh red ginger Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum at a concentration of 100% has a moderate level of inhibition to S. aureus and weak level of inhibition to E. coli.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the pace of development of larvae of Aedes aegypti in some media of water, with the aim of knowing the development of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes from egg to be by looking at the development and physiology. The research was conducted between February and April 2008. The material used is the Aedes aegypti mosquito eggs laid on 3 media: water bath water, sewage, and water ponds. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using SPSS. The development of mosquito larvae in the sewer water is 8.3 days, 21.5 days of pool water, water bath of 24.3 days. Results of statistical analysis of all the observed variables showed that, there is a real difference between the sewage and the pool water and bath water, but the pool water and bath water are not significantly different. It can be concluded that the difference in water media affect the development of larvae of Aedes aegypti. Keywords: Aedes aegypti, water bath, water sewer, water ponds.

Abstract

Rice fields in East Kalimantan is one of productive land. It looks from many piles of rice husk waste in rice milling. The rice husk waste has not been used much, so this research used the rice husk waste as raw material of furfural manufacturing. This research has three stages, there are raw material preparation, hydrolysis, and product analysis. At the preparation stage, rice husk is diminished to 100 mesh, then dried in oven. Hydrolysis process used sulfuric acid 1% as catalyst with the variation times were 10, 40, 70, 100, 130 (minutes) and temperature are 30, 50, 70, 90, 105 (°C). Then hydrolysis result was filtered and the filtrate was quantitatively analyzed by volumetric method. Highest result of time variation obtained was at 130 minutes with furfural concentration as much 8,182 mol/L, while highest result of temperature variation obtained was at 105 °C with furfural concentration as much 10,741 mol/L.
