Abstract

This research was a quasi-experiment—instigated by the low of students’ chemistry achievement. This research aimed at knowing the effect of using Team Games Tournament (TGT) type of Cooperative Learning Model with Molymod media tomard students’ achievement of X grade at Senior High School of YLPI Pekanbaru. The samples of this research were Random Sampling comprising 2 classes—X1 (Experimental group) and X3 (Control group). There were 4 meetings done. Test, interview, questionnaire, and documentation were the techniques of collecting the data. T-test formula was used to find out the result of students’ achievement. Based on the data analysis, it can be stated that tobserved was 4.14 and ttable 2.00 and it showed that tobserved was higher than ttable. It revealed that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. In other words, there was a significant effect of using Team Games Tournament (TGT) type of Cooperative Learning model with Molymod media toward students’ achievement of X grade at Senior High School of YLPI Pekanbaru with coefficient effect 20%. Abstract

AbstrackCooking oil is one food that is very needed by the whole society. The rising price of cooking oil in among society with low economics, is one of the factors causing the repeated use of cooking oil (Waste cooking oil). Using of waste cooking oil can cause poisoning, cancer and others. This research aimed to know the persentage reduction in acid number and water content, also organoleptic of the oil produced. The methods of waste cooking oil can be done by giving antioxidant to the oil. Noni fruit is one of the plant that be rich of antioxidant. 50 gram simplisia of noni added to 250 ml waste cooking oil of packadge and bulk oil. The methods of acid number by alkalimetri and measurement of water content using oven. The organoleptic tests carried out by favorite level from 25 panelists. The results of this research showed that persentage of reduction in packpage and bulk oil’s acid number were 28% and 25%. Whereas for persentage of reduction water content from each oil were 75% and 71.42%. The favorite level of color, odor and flavor were 99%, 76% and 89%. The results of the questionnaire about the feasibility of video in terms of content and appearance was 84.375%, which was included in the excellent category.Keywords: Waste Cooking Oil, Noni Fruit, Water Content, Acid Number and Organoleptic Tests.

Abstract

AbstractMaking coconut oil was usually done with heating coconut milk for hours until the protein in coconut milk broke and the oil can go out from coconut milk emulsion. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of pineapple juice addition against the amount of produced oil, to determine the quality of VCO enzymatic were density, water content, organoleptic (color, smell and flavor), teacher appraisal on work procedure and product of study result. The variation of pineapple juice shown that more pineapple juice addition then more produced VCO. The mount of produced oil for sample A 80 mL, sample B 83 mL and sample C 85 mL. The quality of three samples were for density which sample A 0.916, sample B 0.938, sample C 0.95. And for water content which sample A0.5, sample B 0.83 dan sample C 1.16. Between three sample, only sample A was accordance with SNI (Indonesia National Standard) No. 7381:2008 which for density was (0.91-0.92) and water content (0.1-0.5%). The teacher appraisal questionnaire about study result and appropriateness of VCO manufacture enzymatic gave cumulative value was 83.20% and it was in very good category.Keyword: VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil), Kelapa (Coconut nucifera L), Enzim Bromelain, Nanas (Ananas comosus L)

Abstract

The process of teaching and learning in the schools only emphasized on the knowledge and understanding aspects and lack develop the skill of critical thinking of students so that they are poorly trained to develop reasoning power in responding and solving problem or applied the concept of science in life. The objective of this study was to improve the critical thinking skill of student using guided inquiry model with SETS (Science, Environment, Technology and Social) vision. This research was conducted in Senior High School (SMAN) 1 Kampar, class of XI IPA-1 and XI IPA-3. Improvement of critical thinking skill of student is measured using pre-test and post-test. The score of pre-test and post-test was analyzed using the N-Gain tested. The result of this study showed that skill to basic explanation, constructing of basic practice, generalization, and hypothesis making as the indicator of thinking ability of student were catagorized as moderate, meanwhile indicator of applied the concept was high with 0.834 of N-Gain value. The critical thinking of students for each indicator were increased that reflected from average value of pre-test and post-test of students. The finding of this study was  guided inquiry model with SETS vision able to improve the critical thinking of student of SMAN 1 Kampar.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was instigated by students’ difficulty at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru in comprehending chemistry concept of Hydrocarbon Lesson that made them unable to achieve optimal learning achievement, thus a teaching lesson was required to guide them to comprehend the concept.  It was done by designing a teaching lesson in the form of handout Guided Inquiry based.  This research aimed at knowing the validity and practicality levels of handout Guided Inquiry based that was valid and practical.  It was a Research and Development (R&D) with 4D (four-D) model, modified by doing limited trials and removing disseminating step.  It was administered at State Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru.  The primary data were collected in this research through questionnaire.  Validity and practicality test questionnaires were the instruments of collecting the data.  The data obtained were analyzed by using Descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques.  The handout produced was tested, its validity level was 89.94% (very valid) and its practicality level was 76.50% (practical).  Based on these results, it could be identified that the handout tested was appropriate and practical to be an alternative teaching lesson for teachers in a school. Keywords: Handout, Guided Inquiry, Hydrocarbon

Abstract

AbstractThis research was instigated bythe emergence of environmental pollution problems caused by laundry waste.  The problem could be solved by processing the waste using the active carbon of pineapple crown, by utilizing adsorption properties found on Colloid material.  The research findings would be as the learning resource.  This research aimed at producing the valid and practical learning resource.  The learning resource product developed was such interactive multimedia using Lectora Inspire software.  This research was a Research and Development (R&D) with Define, Design, and Develop steps.  This research was administered at State Senior High Schools 1 and 2 Bangkinang Kota.  Validity and practicality test questionnaires were the instruments of collecting the data, and the data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques.  The research findings stated that the active carbon of pineapple crown contained 5% water content and iodine absorption was 482.334 mg/g.  The reduction of Phosphate content oflaundry waste after being processedwith the active carbon of pineapple crown was 40.7%.  The learning resource produced in the form of interactive multimedia contained 93.51% validity (very valid) and 87.57% practicality (very good).  Based the findings, it could be identified that the learning resource tested was proper and practical to be used as the learning resource. Keywords:  The Active Carbon of Pineapple Crown, Laundry Waste, Learning Resource, Interactive Multimedia of Lectora Inspire, Adsorption

Abstract

AbstractThe main objective of the study was to examine the validy and practical level of student work sheet by a valid and practical of scaffolding approach. The study was a developing study by using 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). It was located in Senior High School 1 Kampar and Senior High School 2 Bangkinang City. The participants of the study were the media design expert, learning material expert, and chemistry teacher as a subject and student worksheet in the topic of the balance of chemistry by a scaffolding approach as an object. Data were collected by using a primary data from the questioner. The instruments of the data collection are the validity questioner and practical questioner. The data is analyzed by using Qualitative and Quantitative Descriptive Analysisi Technique. The findings showed the student worksheet have a percentage of validity level of 84.98% (very valid) and practical level of 87% (very practical). It can be identified that the student worksheet is accepted and can be used as a teacher learning material supplement.Keywords: student worksheet, scaffolding, chemistry balance.

Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this research was to know the influence of applying Contextual Teaching And Learning model by using Prezi Desktop mediatoward the students’ outcome on colloid learning. This research was experimental research by using pretest-posttest control group design and. The technique of collecting data was using test, observation, and documentation. The sample of this research was using random sampling. 32 students of 11th-grade science 5 serve as an experimental class. They were given the treatment of Contextual Teaching And Learning by using Prezi Desktop media, while 33 students of the 11th-grade science class 4 serve as a control classthat was given the conventional technique. The research found the final data used t pooled variance,so it was foundtquantification = 2,11and ttabel= 2,00 on the significant part and showed that tquantification>ttable. Thus, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. The coefficient category is 6.60%. So it can be concluded that Contextual Teaching and Learningmodelby using Prezi Desktop mediacan give a positive effect on the students outcome of chemical achievement especially on colloid learning of 11th-grade science class at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru.Keywords: Contextual Teaching And Learning, Prezi Desktop, Outcome

Abstract

AbstractThis research is motivated by the exam questions in the odd semester of 2015/2016 of which items have not been analyzed. Furthermore, the test result of the odd semester is under the minimum completion criteria. This document analysis research is aimed at discovering the quality of question items qualitatively and quantitatively. The result of the study suggests that 40 items of the odd semester chemistry subject exam questions are not qualitatively compliance with all material aspects, constructions, and the language examined from class 10 of Islamic Senior High School Ponpes Khairul Ummah. Furthermore, at MA Nurul Falah, there are 19 items which are not compliance with the aspect of materials, constructions, and the language that is examined. Quantitatively, there are 29 valid items at MA Ponpes Khairul Ummah and possess test reliability as many as 0.65. At MA Nurul Falah there are 31 valid items and possess test reliability as much as 0.76. Keywords: Analysis of grain problem, chemistry, qualitative, quantitative

Abstract

This[u1]  research was an experiment aiming at knowing the difference between the effect of Guided Inquiry model using Real and Virtual Laboratory Experiment on student science processes skill on Buffer material at State Senior High School Plus Riau Province in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. Samples of this research were the elevent grade student class MS 1 as the first experimental group amount 25 students taught by using Guided Inquiry model usig Real Laboratory Experiment and class MS 4 as the second experimental group amount 25 students taught by using Guided Inquiry Model using Virtual Laboratory Experiment. Simple random sampling was used in this research. Documentation and observation were the techniques of collecting the data. The preliminary and final data were analyzed by using Independent sample t-test. Based on the result the data processed, it was obtained  that tobserved was 2.432 and ttabel ­was 1.671 revealing that tobserved was was higher than ttabel. Thus Ho was rejected. This research finding revealed that the use of Guided Inquiry model using Real and Virtual Laboratory Experiment on Buffer material. Kp formula was used to measure the effect of using Guided Inquiry model, and the coefficient effect was 10.96%.Keywords: Guided Inquiry Model, Real Laboratory, Virtual Laboratory, Science Processes Skill, Buffer
