Journal Educative is a scientific journal in the field of educational study published by the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Bukittinggi, which is a transformation of the analysis journal published by STAIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi. Journal of analysis has been published periodically since 2007 and is a journal in the study of education. In each of its publications, the Educative Journal presents various academic articles in educational studies that not only from textual traditions in education, but also are mixed from field studies. Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the correlation between students’ reading interest and reading comprehension. The method used in this study was quantitative and the technique used was a correlational study. The population of the research was taken from students of the eighth grade of SMP Ahmad Dahlan Kota Jambi. The numbers of the population were 47 students. The Total sampling which used all the population was applied as the technique in taking the sample of the research. The data were obtained by using two instruments which were reading interest questionnaires and reading comprehension tests. To measure the correlation Spearman’s Rho was used. The result of this study showed that there was a high correlation between students’ reading interest and their reading comprehension. It was proven by coefficient correlational between students’ reading interest and their reading comprehension was r (0.983), it means those variables were significantly correlated. The result of analyzing the significant value is 0.01, it means that 0.01<0.05, thus, the null hypothesis (Ho) rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan apakah ada hubungan antara minat baca siswa dan kemampuan membaca mereke. Metode yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui penelitian korelasi. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Ahmad Dahlan Kota Jambi. Jumlah populasi adalah 47 siswa. Pengambilan sampel penelitian diperoleh melalui total sampling. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan kuesioner untuk mengukur minat baca siswa dan memberikan tes pada siswa untuk mengetahui level pemahaman membaca siswa. Untuk mengukur korelasi peneliti menggunakan teori Spearman’s Rho. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang tinggi antara minat baca dan pemahaman membaca. Terbukti dari hasil perhitungan korelasi ditemukan bahwa hubungan antara minat baca dan pemahaman membaca siswa adalah r (0.983), ini menunjukkan bahwa variabel tersebut memiliki korelasi yang signifikan. Hasil dari signifikansi adalah 0.01, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa 0.01<0.05. Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the need for textbook in writing learning to write papers and research reports that’s become as the development of instructional material, (2) design an appropriate textbook to students’ needs analysis, (3) develop the textbook of writing papers and research reports at the two-semester, Study Program of Language and Literature Indonesian, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Baturaja, and, (4) determine the potential effects of writing papers and research reports development of textbook on learning outcomes. This study is a research and development. Subjects in this study were students of Language and Literature Indonesian, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Baturaja amounted to 23 students. The results of the research indicated that the textbook writing papers and research reports as the result of this development have the potential effects to influence and improve student’s understanding of the materials on the course of writing in a universityPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan kebutuhan buku teks dalam pembelajaran menulis makalah dan laporan penelitian yang dijadikan bahan ajar pengembangan, (2) merancang buku teks yang sesuai dengan analisis kebutuhan mahasiswa, (3) mengembangkan buku teks menulis makalah dan laporan penelitian di semester 2 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Baturaja, (4) mengetahui pengaruh potensial pengembangan buku teks menulis makalah dan laporan penelitian terhadap hasil belajar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Baturaja sebanyak 23 mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku teks Menulis Makalah dan Laporan Penelitian hasil pengembangan ini mempunyai pengaruh potensial dalam meningkatkan kemampuan dan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap materi-materi menulis di perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the thinking process of students in solving geometry problems in terms of gender. This research is qualitative-descriptive. The subject of this research is the Semester V student of Bukittinggi IAIN Mathematics Education. The instruments used are tests and interviews. the thinking process of Bukittinggi IAIN PMTK students in geometry problem solving tends to be different in the stages of processing information on men and women. In planning and resolving problems in female subjects more analytical in completing compared to male subjects. But the subject of men is more able to describe the problem. Male subjects can see with a different perspective. But this depends on the questions given and the understanding of concepts and experiences that have existed in the previous subject related to the questions givenPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses berpikir mahasiswa laki laki dan perempuan dalam memecahkan masalah geometri. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif-deskriptif. Subjek pada penilitian ini adalah satu mahasiswa laki laki dan satu mahasiswa perempuan Pendidikan Matematika IAIN Bukittinggi yang memiliki kemampuan matematika yang setara dan komunikatif. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes pemecahan masalah geometri dan wawancara. Proses berpikir mahasiswa dalam  memecahan masalah geometri cenderung  berbeda pada tahapan mengolah informasi pada laki laki dan perempuan. Dalam merencanakan dan menyelesaikan masalah pada subjek perempuan lebih analitis dalam menyelesaikan dibandingkan dengan subjek laki laki. Namun subjek laki laki lebih bisa menggambarkan dan mengabstrakkan permasalahan. Subjek laki laki bisa melihat dengan sudut pandang yang berbeda. Namun hal ini tergantung pada soal yang diberikan serta pemahaman konsep dan pengalaman yang telah ada pada subjek sebelumnya terkait soal yang diberikan.

Abstract

This article discusses the preliminary process of developing a suitable model for teaching reading in large English classes. The large English classes that are referred in this piece of scientific writing is the English classes at Universitas Negeri Padang which consist up to fifty to sixty students. Not only it is large, but the students in the class also come from various study programs and different cultural background. The diversity of their background of knowledge and culture leads to possible problems regarding their study. The condition requires the lecturer to be able to apply an effective model in the teaching and learning process. The article focuses on the development of a reading model since enriching the students' abilities in reading is one of the objectives of the course. The development process includes the planning of the reading lesson, the learning process, and the evaluation. Various methods of teaching are applied to find the one that works best for the atmosphere of the large classes. However, it was found that none of the common teaching reading strategies used worked well in the large English class at Universitas Negeri Padang. Artikel ini ditulis sebagai hasil penelitian pemula tentang usaha pengembangan model mengajar reading di kelas bahasa Inggris berkapasitas besar. Kelas berkapasitas besar yang dimaksud dalam tulisan ilmiah adalah kelas bahasa Inggris mata kuliah umum di Universitas Negeri Padang yang terdiri dari lima puluh hingga enam puluh mahasiswa. Tidak hanya berkapasitas besar, tetapi mahasiswa dikelas ini berasal dari jurusan yang berbeda-beda. Perbedaan ini menyebabkan terjadinya beberapa masalah terkait proses belajar mengahar dikelas. Kondisi semacam ini mengharuskan dosen untuk mampu mengplikasikan model belajar mengajar yang efektif. Fokus dari tulisan ini adalah dasar pengembangan model mengajar reading yang mampu membantu mahasiswa mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Pengembangan yang dimaksud mencakup merencanakan pembelajaran, proses pembelajaran termasuk contoh strategi dan teknik yang mungkin dapat digunakan serta evaluasi. Akan tetapi, ditemukan bahwa hampir tidak ada dari satu strategi mengajar reading yang umum digunakan mampu membantu mahasiswa dikelas-kelas berkapasitas besar ini untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang diharapkan.

Abstract

This paper discusses several forms of student delinquency that occurred at MA Muhammadiyah Lakit, West Sumatra, the things that influence and how Islamic religious education efforts in preventing phenomena that occur. This research uses a qualitative approach with qualitative descriptive analysis. Based on the results and data obtained, the problems that occur in students are considered to be serious, often repeated and make the school and the teacher worry about the habits of some students, such as being caught smoking in school stalls, jumping school fences, skipping school hours, fighting, and coming to school late. The school has also often warned and the last solution is the calling of parents of students involved in delinquency. The causes of delinquency done by students are due to the influence of peers, environmental influences, weak parental supervision and the influence of social media. There are two attempts by the school in preventing student delinquency, the first giving advice, and the second punishment. Although not yet running optimally. However, there has been a bright spot for students, so they understand the impact he has. In fact, the rules made by schools to shape themselves as moral and educated students, and make both parents happy.Tulisan ini membahas tentang beberapa bentuk kenakalan siswa yang terjadi di MA Muhammadiyah Lakitan Sumatera Barat, hal-hal yang mempengaruhi serta bagaimana upaya pendidikan agama Islam dalam mencegah fenomena yang terjadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil dan data yang diperoleh, permasalahan yang terjadi pada siswa sudah dianggap serius, sering terulang dan membuat pihak sekolah beserta guru khawatir dengan kebiasaan yang dilakukan beberapa siswa, seperti ketahuan merokok di warung sekolah, melompat pagar sekolah, bolos pada jam sekolah, berkelahi, dan telat datang ke sekolah. Pihak sekolah juga telah sering memperingatkan dan solusi terakhir ialah pemanggilan orang tua siswa yang terlibat kenakalan. Penyebab dari kenakalan yang dilakukan siswa dikarenakan pengaruh teman sepermainan, pengaruh lingkungan, pengawasan orang tua yang lemah dan pengaruh media sosial. Ada dua upaya yang dilakukan sekolah dalam mencegah kenakalan siswa, yang pertama memberikan nasehat dan kedua hukuman. Walaupun belum berjalan maksimal. Akan tetapi telah ada titik terangnya kepada siswa, sehingga mereka paham akan dampak yang ia didapatkan. Sejatinya, aturan yang dibuat sekolah untuk membentuk diri siswa yang bermoral dan berpendidikan, serta membahagiakan kedua orang tua.

Abstract

This study is quasi-experimental research which aims to determine the effect of authentic material on student learning outcomes on Arabic Language subjects at grade VIII MTsN 6 Agam. The sample of this study was taken using purposive sampling, namely class VIII.1 as the control class and class VIII.2 as the experimental class. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the posttest means score for the experimental group students was 74.00 and the control group was 64.63. Then, hypothesis testing was done using the t-test at the 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The two similarity test results were carried out to determine whether there were significant differences between the mean scores of the pretest and posttest of the control class and the experimental class. Then it was obtained that t-count> t-table which is equal to 2.484> 2,000 and Sig. (2-tailes) of 0.16> 0.05. Then, according to the basis of decision making in the Independent Sample T-Test, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means that there is a significant difference between the average student learning outcomes in the experimental class compared to the control class. In other words, there is a significant effect of using authentic material on the Arabic language learning outcomes of students in theالسَّاعَةُmaterial (time) in class VIII MTsN 6 AgamPenelitian inimerupakan eksperimen semu (Quasy Eksperiment) dengan desain Non equivalent control group design,yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Arab yang diajar menggunakan metode pembelajaran authentic material kelas VIII MTsN 6 Agam.Sample penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan purposive sampling yaitukelasVIII.1 sebagai kelas control dan kelas VIII.2 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Hasil analisis sttistik menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata posttest untuk siswa kelompok eksperimen sebesar 74,00dan kelompok kontrol sebersar 64,63. Kemudian, dilakukan pengujian hipotesis yang  menggunakan uji-t pada taraf kepercayaan 95%(α=0.05). Hasil yang diperoleh dari uji kesamaan dua rata-ratadilakukan bertujuanuntuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara mean skor dari pretest dan posttest kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Makadiperoleh nilai dimanathitung> ttabelyaitu sebesar 2,484 > 2,000 dan  Sig.(2-tailes) sebesar 0,16 > 0,05, maka sesuai dasar pengambilan keputusan dalam Uji Independent Sample T-Test dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, yang artinya bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang significant antara rata-rata hasil belajar siswa di kelas eksperimen dibanding di kelas kontrol. Dengan kata lain ada pengaruh penggunaan metode pembelajaran authentic material terhadap hasil belajar bahasa arab siswa pada materi السَّاعَةُ (waktu) di kelas VIII MTsN 6 Agam.

Abstract

This research is qualitative research with descriptive method. The source of the data in this study is the sentences contained in the short story “The Origin of The Salak Tree”. This study has two objectives. First, to find out and illustrate the forms of phatic variations found in the short story of the Origin of the Salak Tree by Willy Yanto Wijaya. Secondly, to find out and illustrate the implications of the use of phatic variations in learning. There are also two results of this study. First, the variation of the phatic found in the story of the Origin of the Salak Tree by Willy Yanto Wijaya, there are three, namely the phatic particle, the word phatic, and the phrase phatic. Fatic particles contained in the story of the Origin of the Salak Tree by Willy Yanto Wijaya are nun, pun, right, tablets, oooh, tho, mah, really, you know, well, eiitss, yeah, yeah, wow, tuh, yeah, ceeerrppp, nan, and anyway. The word fatis contained in the story of the Origin of the Salak Tree by Willy Yanto Wijaya has come, yes, yes, and let's. The phatic phrase contained in the story of the Origin of the Salak Tree by Willy Yanto Wijaya is happy eating. Second, the implications of phatic in learning Bahasa Indonesia Curriculum 2013 can be applied to write short stories text.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Sumber data  dalam penelitian ini adalah kalimat-kalimat yang terdapat dalam cerpen “Asal Usul Pohon Salak”. Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan. Pertama,  untuk mengetahui dan menggambarkan bentuk variasi fatis yang terdapat dalam cerpen Asal Usul Pohon Salak karya Willy Yanto Wijaya. Kedua, untuk mengetahui dan menggambarkan implikasi dari penggunaan variasi fatis dalam pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian ini juga ada dua. Pertama, variasi fatis yang terdapat dalam cerpen Asal-Usul Pohon Salak karya Willy Yanto Wijaya ada tiga, yaitu partikel fatis, kata fatis, dan frasa fatis. Partikel fatis yang terdapat dalam cerpen Asal-Usul Pohon Salak karya Willy Yanto Wijaya yaitu nun, pun, kan, loh, deh, oooh, tho, mah, kok, lho, nah, eiitss, yaaah, lah, wah, tuh, iihh, ceeerrppp, nan, dan toh. Kata fatis yang terdapat dalam cerpen Asal-Usul Pohon Salak karya Willy Yanto Wijaya yaitu ayo, iya, ya,  dan yuk. Frasa fatis yang terdapat dalam cerpen Asal-Usul Pohon Salak karya Willy Yanto Wijaya yaitu selamat makan. Kedua, implikasi fatis dalam pembelajaran dapat diaplikasikan pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Kurikulum 2013 yaitu menulis teks cerpen.

Abstract

Living in a dormitory is a must for the first year students of IAIN Bukittinggi, especially English Education Department. They followed some rules in their daily activities there. They also have some activities including alqur’an recitation, leaderhip, Arabic and English training. Based on the phenomenon above, this research analyzed the use of language learning strategies by the students who lived in mahad. Qualitative analysis was used to find the English language learning strategy and the factors support and obstales face by the stde the used of language learning strategy itself. The results showed that most of the students used affective strategy more in their English language learning. It explained that good attitude and motivation taking a big part in the language learning strategies which brough the students to the deeper understanding of using English for their daily conversation. Then, some factors like the ability to motivate their self in learning English and environment became obstacles in mastering English in mahad IAIN Bukittinggi. This can be anticipated by arranging their scedule well during the day of their learning.Tinggal di asrama merupakan suatu keharusan bagi mahasiswa tahun pertama di IAIN Bukittinggi, khususnya jurusan Bahasa. Mereka mengikuti dan mematuhi beberapa aturan yang ditetapkan Asrama untuk kegiatan mereka sehari-hari. Mereka juga mengikuti beberapa kegiatan tambahan seperti; menghafal alqur’an, kepemimpinan, pelatihan Bahasa Arab dan Bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan fenomena tersebut maka penelitian ini menganalisa penggunaan strategi pembelajaran bahasa oleh mahasiswa yang tinggal di Mahad. Analisa kualitatif digunakan untuk menemukan strategi pembelajaran bahasa dan faktor pendukung serta kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dalam mempelajari bahasa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kebanyakan mahasiswa menggunakan strategi afektif dalam pembelajaran bahasa mereka. Hal ini menjelaskan bahwa sikap yang baik dan motivasi untuk berpartisipasi dalam penggunaan bahasa membawa mereka kepada pemahaman penggunaan Bahasa Inggris untuk percakapan sehari-hari. Kemudian, beberapa faktor seperti kemampuan memotivasi diri dan lingkungan menjadi kendala dalam menguasai Bahasa Inggris di Mahad IAIN Bukittinggi. Hal ini bisa diantisipasi dengan mengatur jadwal dengan baik untuk belajar.
