Al-Izzah: Jurnal Hasil-Hasil Penelitian

Al-Izzah receive article from academics, researchers, and students national and international in the field of Muslim community, education, culture, gender, and any social religious issues. The articles published in the journal Al-Izzah covers scientific research result as a priority research, scientific articles review, and responses or critics to the existing the prior researches. Journal Al Izzah published twice a year by Intitute of Research and Community Development (LP2M) IAIN Kendari and always places Islam and Muslim society in the central focus of academic inquiry. Article submitted in the form of original ideas, based on research result (both library as well as fieldwork), and not yet ever published in journal anywhere. The manuscript submitted to Al-Izzah is independently reviewed by at least two reviewers in the form of "double-blind review". Decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is based upon their reports/recommendation. In certain cases, the editor may submit an article for review to another, third reviewer before making a decision, if necessary.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the tradition of volunteerism in Pondok Modern Gontor 7 Putera Southeast Sulawesi, which includes basic values developed in building the tradition of volunteerism and Pondok Modern Gontor 7 Putera efforts to encourage his citizens to produce the best performance. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection is done through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, display, and verification. Data validity is tested through member check, triangulation, extended observation, and increased perseverance. The results of this study indicate that voluntary behavior is an application of the values of the five souls which are sincerity, simplicity, independence, ukhuwah Islamiyah, freedom, which is the basis in carrying out self-service and self-giving attitude. In improving performance, leaders motivate implementing the concept of five souls as the main reference in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, including in the application of management functions.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the curriculum design in Pondok Tremas; to measure the concept of nationalism in Pondok Tremas; to describe the nationalism education design of curriculum at Pondok Tremas; and make a model for strengthening nationalism in Pondok Tremas. This research is a grounded research model developed by Noeng Muhadjir with the naturalistic paradigm of Guba and Lincoln. The research sample was taken by using purposive sampling in Pondok Tremas Pacitan. The results showed that the curriculum design at Pondok Tremas is a salafiyah style (traditional) leading to seven santri daily activities, including: religious book reading, religious practices, musabaqah, implementation of reward and punishment, discussion, khitābiyah forum, and study of bahts al-masāil.  The concept of strengthening nationalism in Pondok Tremas is carried out through the study of Kitab Kuning. The design of nationalism education in Pondok Tremas curriculum uses Ralph W. Tyler's development model theory, expressed through: thought (a study of Kitab Kuning), heart (in the form of wirid and istigatsah); feel (in the implementation of students’ five souls, including; simplicity, independence, brotherhood, freedom, modesty); and work (in the form of various community activities). Abstract

The emergence of the term new media is very closely related to the presence of the internet in human life. Even though in its development, new media is not only limited to the Internet, but the Internet is a tool or media that is used in the era of new media, such as in the events of Bela Islam 212 in Indonesia. The Islamic defense action is known as the Gerakan 212 in coverage in many secular mainstream media and community media among diverse Muslims. The Gerakan Bela Islam 212 was later appreciated as a peaceful act. That is because the action was demonstrated through such a large mass mobilization. This study aims to analyze and study how the dominance of the Internet in public spaces over the spread of discourse on the 212 Islamic movements in Indonesia. The results of this study found that the Internet and social media are new media, with its users able to easily participate, share, and create new spaces in distributing news and discourse on Gerakan Bela Islam 212. Stable Internet penetration and also the use of media networks online is a form of social control tool in a democratic system. Social media is considered capable of mobilizing the masses of the Gerakan Bela Islam 212 in Indonesia to be actively involved and present at the Jakarta Monas. This proves that the Internet dominates public spaces related to the issue of reporting and discourse of Islamic action by the use of social media networks.

Abstract

This research explains about symbolic violence in Islamic religious education books is rarely done. It also checks whether or not the books used so far contain symbolic violence, because there should be no difference in religious education between upper-class and lower-class. The formulation of the problems in this study are; how the mechanism of symbolic violence in Islamic religious education textbooks in elementary schools, and how the proportion of upper-class habitus and lower-class habitus in Islamic religious education textbooks in elementary schools. This research is a qualitative study with the type of literature study. The results showed that symbolic violence still occurred in elementary schools. The mechanism that runs is through an educational strategy by hiding the process of symbolic violence in the curriculum or what we know as the hidden curriculum. One of the media used to perpetrate violence is a textbook. In Islamic Religious Education textbooks for elementary school level), there is an element of upper-class domination over the lower class. The dominance of the upper-class over the lower-classes can be seen from the proportion of habitus presented in the textbook, the number of upper-class habitus presented through sentences and pictures illustrated is far greater than the lower-class habitus.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive and in-depth overview of the results of studying and analyzing the thoughts of Ibn Athā'illah Al-Sakandarī about the theory of humanism as the basis of religious ethics. This research methodology, using the library research method with a philosophical approach, can provide an overview of Ibn Athā'illah Al-Sakandarī's thinking tools about the theory of humanism as a basis for religious ethics as a whole and in-depth. The results of the study showed that humanism, in the view of Islam, means to put forward the humanity that applies fairly and lives peacefully amid differences, this is in line with the thought of Ibn Athā'illah based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. Ibn Athā'illah encourages humans to reach the highest level, namely macrifat, where the values of wisdom are a reflection of the theory of humanism as the construction of religious ethics, then Ibn Athā'illah encourages humans to seek knowledge as well as the development of reason. Ibn Athā'illah encouraged humans to develop according to the conditions of the times by not leaving obedience to God. The thought of Ibn Athā'illah was also acceptable in various circles, scientists, workers and so on, besides that with the value of humanism, harmony in society was formed so that Muslims were not in a debate in carrying out his nature as a human being.

Abstract

Author explains Instagram account about Islamic and health information. In the current post-truth era, when a variety of health information that is spread is not necessarily true, it can be justified or assumed to be true, the account of dr@zaidulakbar is present to counter the issue of health hoaxes. The author wants to know the process of internalizing Islamic values in the post-truth era through the account of dr@zaidulakbar as a media for literacy in health information. How not, as a doctor, his name became a credible source by carrying the mission of his mission in spreading health information to the public. The Instagram account has 2.1 million followers with a tagline that "goes back to the health of the al-Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad and His world". The author examines this research using virtual ethnographic methods, and data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and literature studies. The results showed that 1) the process of internalizing Islamic values begins with verbal messages in the form of various health information based on the al-Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Apostles uploaded by ZA in his account and non-verbal messages carried by the account of dr@zaidulakbar; 2) dr@zaidulakbar's account is a solutive media in the process of internalizing Islamic values for millennial generation in the post-truth era; 3) dr@zaidulakbar's account responds to the challenges of the post-truth era as a medium for literacy in health information in minimizing health hoaxes.

Abstract

Ashabiyah has become one of the important social systems for people in the Arabian Peninsula before the Prophet Muhammad introducing Islam to Mecca. Ashabiyah brought the tribes into one strong unity in Arab, though it turned out this system often leads to egoism and aggression of each group, which caused dispute and war. The Prophet Muhammad then used this system to unify the people of the desert and the people within the country once again with a new purpose, which is Islam, after Islam came into Arabic. The primary purpose of the ashabiyah system was unification and sovereignty for all the people, and it costs the system to have a guideline of religious values. So, based on the values every act made by the tribe will lead to right action as well. This research wants to explain how did Ashabiyah take a role in all peoples of Arabia and be a succession of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the spread of Islam. The method that is used in this study is that historical research contains heuristic, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the study showed that the ashabiyah based on Islam became a strong system in building the progress of the ummah because, without social solidarity, unity, and help, the ideals of sovereignty could not be realized.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan mendeskrispikan sekaligus menganalisis pemikiran M. Quraish Shihab tentang keadilan pada poligami dalam QS. Al-Nisa/4:3, yang kemudian akan ditelusuri posisi pemikiran M. Quraish Shihab tersebut dalam konteks perdebatan oleh para pemikir dan ulama Islam. Pengungkapan pemikiran M. Quraish Shihab ini penting diutarakan, karena M. Quraish Shihab dikenal sebagai ulama moderat serta menjadi rujukan penting pemikiran Islam di Indonesia. Setelah dianalisis, artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa poligami dinilai oleh M. Quraish Shihab sebagai pintu darurat, yang hanya dilewati jika berada dalam keadaan terpaksa, di mana pandangannya tersebut menekankan pada aspek keadilan yang harus terpenuhi dalam berpoligami. Adapun keadilan yang dimaksud oleh M. Quraish Shihab adalah keadilan dalam hal material. Dari sini, pemikiran M. Quraish Shihab tersebut merupakan bagian pemikiran kelompok yang menerima praktik poligami dengan syarat-syarat yang ketat. Pandangan M. Quraish Shihab termasuk tergolong moderat dalam menyelesaikan problem praktik poligami di Indonesia, di mana M. Quraish Shihab berhasil bersikap tengah atas pandangan yang menolak secara ketat dan pandangan yang menerimanya secara ketat. Dengan demikian, artikel ini membuktikan bahwa pemikiran M. Quraish Shihab dapat menjadi pilihan yang tepat dalam mengamalkan QS. Al-Nisa/4:3 bagi umat Islam di Indonesia.

Abstract

Da’i is agents of change who bring ideas and provide innovations for changes in people’s lives for the better. As agents of change, many abilities are needed to enable the role of preachers to successfully change society in terms of knowledge, attitudes and behavior, one of which is the ability to convey da’wah messages through tabligh and the ability to communicate. The focus of this research is how Da’is in Sukadana, East Lampung Regency carry out proselytization and carry out missions as agents of change. This research is a phenomenological study so that the interpretive paradigm uses a phenomenological approach. Research data collection was carried out by observation, documentation and interviews, involving five Da’i as research objects. The results showed that the Da’i experience in carrying out dakwah bil hikmah was claimed to have succeeded in bringing about positive changes in the Sukadana community. Da’is in Sukadana have outstanding abilities and are successful in their preaching by preaching bil hikmah. Their proselytization is carried out through religious, social guidance and proselytizing activities by providing information and ideas to change the Sukadana community into obedient and devout people to Allah and be accepted by other communities. Da’is in conveying da’wah messages through tabligh in Sukadana District are under informative and educational functions with proselytizing activities through Majlis Taklim, Friday sermons and other non-formal lectures. This finding confirms that the dakwah bil hikmah should continue to be used as an ideal missionary in Islamic society.

Abstract

Inclusive education, especially in the Islamic education (PAI) subject, is a guaranteed concept for citizens to get their right for education without exception. This study aims to determine how inclusion-based PAI learning management for children with disabilities in Makassar City uses qualitative methods and uses observation, interview and documentation study techniques. There are four findings in this study, namely: (1) learning planning has been prepared by Islamic Education teachers based on the curriculum of 2013 and adapted to the characteristics of the child and documented in the form of a syllabus and learning implementation plan, (2) the implementation of PAI teaching and learning activities are implemented with a strategy diverse learning; selecting and using varied learning methods; as well as the use of learning media, (3) evaluation of Islamic Education learning outcomes for children with disabilities is carried out by using test and non-test techniques, (4) there are obstacles in learning Islamic Education with children with disabilities, namely the competence of Islamic Education teachers in presenting the learning process, supporting facilities and the lack of handbooks (textbooks) for PAI for children with disabilities so that Islamic education learning is not optimal.
