Abstract

Aphthous ulcer is the most common oral mucosal disease occurring in up to 25% of the world's human population. In general, therapy is more directed to pain control and hope of faster healing. Increased use of the drug with the original content on the grounds more free toxic effects, easy to obtain and affordable prices cause the use of plants as ingredients of medicine to be an alternative choice. Jatropha multifida known as betadin plant is a plant with bioactive ingredients flavonoids, diterpenoid, tannins and saponins have been widely used as medicinal plants.Research on aphthous ulcer in mouth mucosal of Rat norvegicus was made by using heated burnisher and using 54 Rat norvegicus rats divided into five groups were normal group, K0 (CMC-Na3%), P1 (2.5% JM); P2 (5% JM) and P3 (JM 10%). Giving a topical extract of J.multifida done 2 times a day then sacrificed on day 3 and day 5. VEGF expression in aphthous ulcer in the mouth tissue by immunohistochemical staining. The result of statistical analysis on VEGF expression showed significant difference (p

Abstract

Foodstuffs are a source of nutrition for humans and as well as a source of food for microorganisms. Microbes can contaminate food through water, dust, air, soil, processing tools (during production or preparation processes, as well as secretions from human and animal guts). Food can be toxic because it has been contaminated by pathogenic bacteria which can then grow and multiply during storage, so the bacteria are able to produce toxins that are harmful to humans. The aimed of this study was to detect the presence of Escherichia coli pathogen in food. This type of research is experimental laboratory using conventional method and multiplex PCR method. 8 positive samples of Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 by conventional method, consisting of 5 samples of tofu; 2 samples of ice syrup and 1 sample iced tea. All positive samples in EMB agar continued Escherichia coli pathogen detection using PCR multiplex method. From the PCR multiplex test, no samples were detected Escherichia coli pathogen

Abstract

Snack as food and beverages, present vastly in Surabaya. Start from street vendor to famous stores. The distribution of these snacks trader often found in schools, from primary to high school. Common problems from these food dan baverages sales is their hygine. With a low sales price, other raised problem are the using of raws material for snack production which lead to hazard microbial contamination. This reaserch aim is to monitors the quality of beverages on microbiology that been sold in around primary school of Jemur Wonosari District, Surabaya. Two microbiology parameters that been analize were coliform bacterial and Escherichia coli number. Beverages sample that been used were 9 samples, then analize using most propable number using 15 tube series. The Results then analize descriptively. From 9 samples, all were exceed the standar quality according to Kepmenkes RI No.492/MENKES/PER/2010.

Abstract

Tanggulangin is one of the sub-districts in Sidoarjo district affected by Lapindo mudflow caused by oil drilling system error located in the area of Siring, Porong. Therefore it had impacted the water quality in around Lapindo mudflow area. The aim of this research was to analysis the levels of water Cr (VI) Tanggulangin district. Water sample was analyzed by spectrophotometer with wavelength of 540 nm and done using two (2) steps ,which were(1) establishment of standard curve and (2) determination of Cr (VI) in water. Ten (10) water samples were taken from various villages in the subdistrict Tanggulangin. Based on the results on level of water chromium VI [Cr (VI)] analyze showed 4 of 10 samples had levels of water Cr (VI)higher than standard 0,05 mg/L (PP No.82 tahun 2001), those sample were 1, 3,4 and 10.

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the effectiveness of biofertilizer with different concentrations on plant growth of soybean “edamame” (glycin max). Biofertilizer in this study consists of microbial consortia (lactobacillus, pseudomonas, bacillus, saccharomyces, rhizobium, azotobacter, azospirillum, and cellulomonas). The treatment consists of 3 biofertilizer concentrations (25%, 50%, dan 75%), as well as the negative control and positive control (100% chemical fertilizer equivalent 5g/plant). The result showed that treatment b3 (biofertilizer 75%) gave better results on plant growth compared with other treatments.

Abstract

Disinfectant commonly used in water swimming pools is calcium hypochlorite {Ca(OCl) 2 }. Calcium hypochlorite is disinfectant which is used in the cleaning of water due to a searchable, inexpensive and contain approximately 70% chlorine. The use of calcium hypochlorite with improper doses will cause the formation of trihalomethane (THMs) compounds which are toxic and carcinogenic nature so that the use of calcium hypochlorite should be based on the calculation of Break Point Clorination (BPC) in order to secure for the environment. The purpose of the research was determine the opyimum dose of calcium hypochlorite in the form of crystal and solution for removal concentration of ammonium. The results obtained from the research that the optimum dose in the water swimming pools for disinfection process is not more than 10 g/L. The addition of calcium hypochlorite in the form of crystals can be removal the concentration of ammonium of 87.50% and in the form of aqueous solution of 83.30%. so it can be deduced that the addition of calcium hypochlorite in the form of crystals better than as a solution to removal the concentration of ammonium.

Abstract

The development of batik industry has increased along with the increasing of society requirement of textile material. Colored liquid in the batik industry has the potential to pollute the environment, so it is necessary research that aims to determine the toxicity of batik industrial waste to morphology of Nila Gift fish (Oreochromis niloticus). The test results of COD content contained in the batik industrial liquid waste is 4951,75 mg/L , analysis of TSS content of batik wastewater showed 448 mg/L, while chromium (Cr) content was 7.0 mg/L, and pH was 6,9. The value of LC-50 96 hours of batik industrial liquid waste is 0.73%, so that the treatment concentration is 0%; 0.37%; 0.46%; 0.55%; 0.64%; and 0.73%. The results showed that the scales exposed directly to batik liquid waste occurred attachment of different substances in each treatment. Treatment with the highest concentration of 0.73% shows the result of attachment of foreign substances that meet the cross section of Nila Gift fish seed scales.
