Abstract

The cause of infectious diseases that often occur in humans can be caused by pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus. The high rate of resistance caused by Staphylococcus aureus makes scientists continue to try to find secondary metabolites for safe medicinal ingredients. This study aims to identify fatty acids and determine the potential of avocado seed oil (BA) against Staphylococcus aureus. This type of research is a laboratory experimental research. The identification of fatty acids that make up BA oil is carried out by gas chromatography (GC) analysis, resulting in several free fatty acids (ALB) in the identified BA oil, such as saturated fatty acids and unsaturated fatty acids. The highest percent of three ALB components of BA oil were found in linoleic acid (26.182%), oleic acid (17.05%), and palmitic acid (12.21%). While the antibacterial activity test was carried out using the disc diffusion method, the variations in the concentration of BA oil used were 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% with dimethyl sufoxide as K(-) and ciprofloxacin as K(+). Based on the antibacterial activity test, it is known that BA oil can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with a weak category of <10 mm.

Abstract

Medicinal plants are very popular among Indonesian people as ingredients for traditional medicine. One of the medicinal plants is Nyirih (Xylocarpus granatum) from the Meliaceae family which is empirically used as a diarrhea medicine and wound cleanser. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of ethyl acetate and n-hexane extract of Nyirih (Xylocarpus granatum) against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Sthapylococcus aureus bacteria and the fungus Candida albicans. The method used is the paper disc diffusion method with a concentration of Nyirih leaves at 50%, 75%, and 100%. The results of antibacterial activity of the ethyl acetate extract of Nyirih leaves against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Sthapylococcus aureus bacteria resulted in a DDH value (diameter of the inhibition zone) 9.83 mm - 21.28 mm, but for n-hexane extract did not produce a DDH value. The test results for antifungal activity of extract ethyl acetate and n-heksan of Nyirih leaves against Candida albicans did not produce a DDH value (diameter of the inhibition zone). Ethyl acetate extract of Nyirih leaves has potential as an antibacterial.

Abstract

Kerai Payung (Filicium decipiens) belongs to the Sapindaceae family, which contains several active compounds that can be used as antibacterial. This study aims to determine secondary metabolites contained in the parasol leaf and the antibacterial activity of n-hexane fraction of the parasol leaf against Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Identification of compound components in the n-hexane fraction of Kerai Payung leaves was carried out qualitatively by TLC using a solvent ratio of n-hexane: ethyl acetate (9:1), (8:2) and (7:3). The best separation result was using nhexane:ethyl acetate (7:3) solvent to produce 7 spots visible at 366 nm UV. The antibacterial activity was tested using the disc diffusion method (Kirby and Bauer diffusion). The concentration variations of the n-hexane fraction were 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, control (+) cifroploxacin and control (-) DMSO (Dimethyl sulfoxide). The results of the antibacterial test against Staphylococcus epidermidis showed that the average value of the largest inhibition zone diameter was obtained at a concentration of 75%, which was 12.77 mm. The concentration groups of 25%, 50%, and 100% were 9.77 mm, 11.42 mm, 10.75 mm, respectively. Meanwhile, the K(+) group, namely Cifrofloxacin, was 31.95 mm.

Abstract

Pegagan leaves are one of the plants used as medicine with the latin name Centella asiatica (L.) Urb. The results of phyitochemical screening that have been carried out show that pegagan leaves contain tannin, steroid and flavonoid hich have an antibacterial function by inhibiting bacterial action in cell formation and even growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of extract of pegagan leaf in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus. This type of research is in experiment with 6 treatments, namely DMSO as a negative control, an chloramphenicol as positive control and pegagan leaf extract at concentrations 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Extraction process of pegagan leaf by maceration method and in the antibacterial test using disc diffusion. Based on the results of the study show that pegagan leaf has antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus which at concetration 25% is 7.7 mm, 50% is 10.37 mm, 75% is 12.4 mm and 100% is 12.18 mm.

Abstract

Water gourd is a fruit that has a high water content efficacious as a medicine for high fever due to typhoid or infection because it has a cooling effect. This study aims to make a suspension of water gourd extract and multiflora honey as a therapy for typhoid. Suspension preparations are expected to provide a faster therapeutic effect and have good stability. Three suspension formulations were made with sodium alginate as a suspending agent with a concentration of 1%, 3%, 5% suspending agent. Evaluation of suspension preparations included sedimentation volume, redispersion, organoleptic, particle size, pH level, and viscosity. The best and most stable suspension formulations were suspension preparations with a concentration of 1%.

Abstract

Good environmental sanitation will bear a good aesthetic and healthy environment. If the sanitation level is low then people around the neighborhood will be susceptible to disease. Environmental sanitation includes clean water supplying, the density of flies, garbage disposal facilities and sewage facilities (latrines). The purpose of this study was to determine the environmental sanitation strikes in Darussalam Gontor For Girls 3 and determine the cause of typhoid fever in Gontor For Girls 3. This study uses observation method with a descriptive approach. This research was conducted in Gotor for Girls 3 with the number of respondents as many as 42 people. Retrieval of data from respondents was conducted in January 2020 until February 2020.The results of this study was sanitation in Gontor For girls Campus 3 entered in both categories with the acquisition value of percentage as much as 66%. The factors that cause typhoid fever maybe of garbage disposal facilities, the level of flies density, water supplying and sewerage facilities (latrines), and the percentage of value about 46%.

Abstract

Beautifying self with cosmetics is one of the ways that people interested. Consumer demand for face whitening cream is so high that many manufacturers market non-certified products containing harmful ingredients such as hydroquinone. In BPOM Regulation No. 23 of 2019 the use of hydroquinone in skin whitening is no longer allowed. Whitening cream is spread in traditional markets where a place to buy and sell various of products freely. This study aims to find out whether or not hydroquinone and its content in face whitening creams are circulating in the traditional market of Blora Regency. Sampling using pusposive sampling technique in the traditional market of Blora Regency. Samples obtained from 4 traditional markets as many as 8 samples consist of 4 samples with registration number BPOM (codes A, B, C and D) and 4 samples without registration number BPOM (codes E, F, G and H). Hydroquinone content examination includes qualitative analysis with pH measurement, color reagent and TLC and quantitative analysis with UV Spectrophotometry. The results of the hydroquine standard pH measurement showed an acid pH of 3.53-3.64 positive samples i.e. E-H samples ranging from 3.30-3.64. In the color reaction hydroquinone formed a black color with sediment, and in TLC obtained a hydroquinone Rf value of 0.9610 with a positive sample Rf value ranging from 0.9444-0.9610 so that the positive result of hydroquinone in the E-H sample. Quantitative analysis using UV Spectrophotometry showed hydroquinone levels in non BPOM code samples E, F, G and H ranging from 0.00123 % - 0.00178 %.

Abstract

Natural dyes are a dye that can be produced from various types of plants that produce natural colors that can be obtained from existing parts in plants such as leaves, fruit, stem, flowers and seeds. Lip cream is one of the decorative cosmetics used to lubricate lips so that it is not easily dry and cracked. Lip Cream as a lip dye that can be used safely with the dye of areca nut extract (Areca catechu L.). Pinang fruit seeds as natural dyes contain Tanins and phenolic compounds. This study aims to determine the characteristics and stability of areca nuts (Areca catechu L.) as a natural dye in a lip cream preparation. In making lip cream there are several ingredients used in it such as Bees Wax, Whith Wax, Cethyl Alcohol, Dimeticone, Kaolin, Castrol Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Kaolin, Toko, and Methil Paraben. Researchers used BUA Pinang seed extract as a natural dye in a lip cream preparation with a concentration of 15%, 25%, 50%, and tested physical quality, namely organoleptic test, pH, homogeneity, and for its effectiveness, namely attachment, and the power of spread, as well as Stability test. Based on research and results of evaluation tests on the field of lip cream fruit seed extract areca nut all formulations are not significantly different in the evaluation of stability.

Abstract

Gastritis is one of the biggest problems that most often occurs in everyday life. According to WHO, the incidence of gastritis in Indonesia reached 40.8%. The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of health counseling on the behavior of preventing gastritis recurrence. The method used is non probability sampling with purposive sampling techniques experimenting with control group pretest and posttest designs. The researchers divided the two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The sample in this study was 40 Students Gontor For Girl Second Campus who had experienced gastritis disease, in the experimental group there were 20 samples and the control group there were 20 samples. The data analysis in this study used the Wilcoxon test with SPSS 16.0 with a significance level of 95%. Based on the results of Wilcoxon's statistical test on behavioral variables obtained a significance value of p = 0.000 (p<0.05) while in the knowledge variable obtained a significant value of p = 0.001 (p<0.05) that there is an influence of health counseling with audio visual methods and leaflets. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of health counseling on knowledge about the prevention of gastritis recurrence in Gontor Putri 2 santriwati with a signification value of p = 0.001 (p<0.05) and there is an effect of health counseling on the behavior of preventing gastritis recurrence in Students Gontor For Girl Second Campus with a significance value of p = 0,000 (p<0.05).

Abstract

Green tea is a herbal plant that can be used to maintain health because of its high antioxidant compounds. Along with the development of pharmaceutical technology, drug delivery systems are also increasingly developing, one of which is transetosomes. The purposes of this study are to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of soy lecithin and ethanol on the characterization of transetosomes. Transetosomes are made using the heat method and formulated in 3 formulations with variations in the concentration of lecithin and ethanol, respectively (F1 0.5: 20, F2 0.6: 25, F3 0.7: 30). Based on the results of the study, obtained the best green tea extract transetosomes is in F3 where the resulting form is Unilamellar Vesicle with a size of 105.96 ± 18.94 nm and polydispersity index 0.36 ± 0.01.
