Abstract

Universities aim to achieve intelligent education through innovative learning methods. Students desire models to develop their skills, and this can be achieved through peer modelling with their peers. This research aims to develop a peer modelling-based digital module to enhance students' understanding of the Personality Development Practicum course, as an effort to improve the ideal personal qualities of prospective counselors. The research design uses the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects in this study are material experts (guidance and counseling lecturers), media experts (learning technology lecturers), and potential users (guidance and counseling students). The results show that the digital module is equipped with video explanations, PowerPoint, infographics, motion graphics, and peer modelling videos. Based on the validation results by material experts, media experts, and potential users, the digital module is considered valid in terms of accuracy, usefulness, attractiveness, and ease of use. Further empirical evidence is needed to support the use of the peer modelling-based digital module in developing the ideal personal qualities of prospective counselors.

Abstract

Among women in Nigeria, cervical cancer has been found to be more prevalent among the rural population. Depression and anxiety are common symptoms among patients during their initial diagnosis and subsequent treatment. The main study objective was to ascertain whether depression or anxiety symptoms are common among patients of cervical cancer in rural communities in Enugu State, Nigeria. The study utilized semi-structured questionnaires in conducting a descriptive study on 148 consenting cervical cancer patients. Graphs, Chi-squares, and percentages were used to represent the data. In total, 148 patients had their data collected by the researcher. This study found that respondents manifested severe depression after their initial cervical cancer screenings. The report shows that 55% of respondents experienced severe depression after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.  Most of them—85 (57%)—were over 35 years of age.  Following a cervical cancer diagnosis, 52% of respondents reported severe anxiety symptoms. It is possible to say that after cervical cancer diagnosis, patients are prone to serious psychological distress. This is closely linked to the dreadful thought processes that herald the initial screening. Social support and counselling are urgently needed before and after cervical cancer screening.

Abstract

Current climate change demands concrete behavior that has a positive impact on the environment, namely eco-activism. Eco-activism is influenced by various factors, one of which is emotional stability. The emergence of eco-activism can also be caused by a person’s eco-anxiety. This study aims to present an overview of the correlations between eco-activism, emotional stability, and eco-anxiety in Indonesian society, where eco-anxiety has a role as a mediator. On-line questionnaires comprising the Ten Item Personality Inventory (TIPI), the Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale (HEAS-13) and the Pro-Environmental Behavior Scale (PEBS-2013) were administered to 279 Indonesian citizens (WNI) aged 19–65 years. The results of this study shows that having emotional stability can enable an individual to react to challenging circumstances like climate change in an environmentally beneficial manner. Furthermore, an individual's emotional stability greatly impacts their ability to effectively handle challenging situations, frequently linked with feelings of anxiety. Interestingly, anxiety related to climate change can enhance a person's motivation to positively contribute to environmental efforts. Moreover, eco-anxiety significantly mediates the correlation between emotional stability and eco-activism.This research provides an overview of the relationship between emotional stability, eco-anxiety, and eco-activism in Indonesian society, which has not been widely researched.

Abstract

This study employs an integrative review methodology to investigate institutional support mechanisms for students with specific learning disabilities (SLDs), aiming to enhance their educational and career prospects. Extensive analysis of primary sources from databases including Dimension, ERIC, Scopus, Scilit, PubMed, Reference Citation Analysis, Google Scholar, and ResearchGate reveals critical insights. The research reveals that students with SLDs benefit from a spectrum of institutional support measures. These encompass provisions such as extended time allocations, access to study aids, dedicated personnel, financial assistance, and faith-based support. These interventions contribute not only to improved academic performance but also facilitate smoother transitions into the professional sphere. This study emphasizes the pressing need for institutions to fortify their support services dedicated to students with SLDs. It advocates for broader access to such resources, with the ultimate goal of optimizing the academic development and career prospects of this demographic. This approach serves to promote inclusivity and diversity in both educational and occupational domains.

Abstract

Teachers’ responsibilities are becoming increasingly challenging and demanding. This cross-sectional survey examined the demographic predictors of occupational stress and exposure to workplace psychosocial hazards among 254 primary school teachers. Two measurement tools were used to assess work-related stress and attendant psychosocial risks. Descriptive statistics and bivariate correlation analysis were employed to analyze the demographic characteristics of the participants and explore the relationships between these demographic factors, work-related stress, and psychosocial risks. The findings revealed a strong positive association between gender and teachers’ occupational stress. Additionally, working status, gender, and location showed a positive correlation with increased exposure to occupational psychosocial hazards among primary school teachers. Conversely, qualifications exhibited a negative and significant association with teachers’ exposure to psychosocial hazards at work. In conclusion, this study highlights a substantial increase in occupational stress for primary school teachers as they age and become more qualified. These findings suggest the need for educational policymakers in Nigerian school settings to address age, location, and working status discrimination to improve teachers’ well-being.

Abstract

The populous of Nigeria is fleeing in dread as a result of the obscene security breaches. The school-age teens who may not have a strong feeling of their community are those who are most impacted. Due to the lack of comparable studies in Nigeria, this study carried out the factorial validation of a 36-item SoCS created by Cicognani et al. (2006). The tool was accepted and verified. For this study, a sample of 489 secondary school students was selected using a straightforward random selection procedure. Factor analysis was used to evaluate the validity and reliability of the instrument as part of the factorial validation process. In addition, the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted using the principal component matrix with Varimax rotation, and the data model fit was assessed using the root mean square approximation (RMSEA) and confirmatory factor index (CFI). The study's findings revealed that SoCS in the Nigerian setting exhibited good model fit (RMSEA =.041, CFI =.951) and reliability (0.89). The sense of community among teenagers enrolled in school can be measured with the SoCS.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between spiritual well-being and psychological well-being among theology faculty students. Spiritual well-being refers to the positive values associated with self-identity, social environment, religious and non-religious symbols, the meaning of life, and personal satisfaction, while psychological well-being involves being in harmony with others, having self-respect and confidence, enjoying life, and effectively dealing with problems. These two states of well-being are interconnected and mutually influential. A correlational model was used to investigate the levels of spiritual well-being and psychological well-being among the participants and explore whether these levels vary based on demographic factors. The study aimed to determine the relationship between spiritual well-being and psychological well-being and assess the extent to which psychological well-being predicts spiritual well-being. Data were collected from 307 theology faculty students in Istanbul and Izmir using the PERMA Well-Being Scale, Spiritual Well-Being Scale, and a Personal Information Form. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 24.0, including calculating scale scores and examining kurtosis and skewness coefficients to assess score distribution. The findings revealed positive relationships between the variables, and it was determined that psychological well-being significantly predicted spiritual well-being. Based on these results, the study provides recommendations for further research and practice.

Abstract

This review aimed to ascertain the prevalence of mental health issues among people with diabetes in Nigeria, the nature of care available for them and the effectiveness of available interventions or management strategies used to treat diabetes-related mental health challenges. Four databases, Google Scholar, PubMed, PsycINFO and Cochrane, were searched. Thirteen studies that focused on the prevalence of mental health challenges among diabetes patients were selected for data extraction and analyses. Another set of five studies was also selected to analyze the effectiveness of diabetes care available to diabetes patients with mental health challenges. This scoping review shows that the prevalence rate of mental health problems among Nigerian diabetic patients is high. It also shows inadequate care or intervention provided to the patients. However, the few available care and interventions were found to be very effective.

Abstract

Women's participation in the Indonesian labor market reached 48.65% by 2022, indicating an increase over the last decade. Women's participation in the labor market, especially working mothers, raises new challenges, such as long working hours, as they are responsible for caring for household and office work that puts them at risk of burnout. Therefore, the study investigates the role of moderation of social support in the relationship between quantitative demands and burnout among working mothers. The study used a sample of 148 participants in Indonesia with the characteristics of married women employees aged 21-55 who had children and worked at least six months at the company. The work background and company background are not limited to the participant sample. This study used the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI) as a burnout measurement tool, the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ) as a workplace support and quantitative labor demands measuring tool, and the Family Support Scale as a family support measure. Data analysis using the macro process Hayes model 1 moderation regression in the SPSS program showed that social support has a significant moderation effect of social support on the relationship between quantitative labor demands and burnout in hybrid working mothers or WFH. Hybrid or WFH mothers have a lower risk of burnout when getting higher social support. Therefore, it is important to have support from the workplace, both from the superior and colleagues and from family and close relatives.
