Abstract

The impact on moral competence following exposure to combat-like environments can be found in soldier narratives, however, limited scientific research investigates such effects. Moreover, the influence of one’s expressive flexibility and self-control on moral competence following combat-like environments is unknown. Employing a univariate design, this study recruited 107 participants (i.e., ages 18 to 22) from a private U.S. Military university to examine the impact on moral competence, including potential moderating effects of expressive flexibility and self-control, following exposure to combat-like environments. To simulate a combat-like environments, participants were placed in either immersive (i.e., Bravemind) or non-immersive (i.e., Virtual Battlespace 3) virtual environments. Self-reported expressive flexibility, self-control, and moral competence were assessed. Results revealed that following exposure to combat-like environments, an individual’s moral competence increased. A main effect of self-control on moral competence indicated that an individual’s self-control directly effects an individual’s moral competence. Findings from this study offers a richer comprehension of how, following simulated combat environments, moral competence can be influenced, and how expressive flexibility and self-control can aid in protecting mental health and wellbeing, even in judging moral dilemmas.

Abstract

This study is based on the problem of many students do not have the learning readiness in fashion design education. This study aimed at the influence of pedagogy and learning interest on fashion design education students learning readiness. The total population was 497 students of the Fashion Design Program of Universitas Negeri Padang. The sampling technique used in this study is total sampling. A total of 497 respondents were successfully collected. The data analysis technique used is Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that: There is a significant effect of pedagogy toward fashion design education students learning readiness and there is a significant effect of learning interest toward fashion design education students learning readiness. What could be said from the result of the study is that good pedagogical abilities of lecturers could be increased fashion design education students learning readiness and high learning interest of students could be increased fashion design education students learning readiness.

Abstract

Hope is one of the dimensions of character strength needed in individual personal development. Various instruments continue to be developed to measure a particular hope. The hope scale instrument must be adapted to each culture and country. However, in Indonesia, there has been no research on the development and validation of the hope scale. This study aimed to develop and validate the Indonesian Hope Scale (IHS) using Rasch's model analysis. Participants in this study are 323 students (99 male and 224 female) aged 13-25 years. This study consisted of junior high school students, senior high school students, college students, and postgraduate students. The results showed that Cronbach's Alpha was in the excellent category with a value is 0.82. The item reliability value is 0.99, and the person reliability value is 0.82. The results of Rasch's analysis show that the psychometric characteristics of the 20 items from the Indonesia Hope Scale can meet the requirements and can be used to measure expectations by professionals.

Abstract

Because of the multicultural nature of Nigerian schools, most employees, particularly teachers, are exposed to one or more psychological hazards at work. In Nigeria, psychosocial work hazards are frequent, but no research has been done to see how lecturers' demographics affect their psychosocial work hazards. As a result, the impact of marital status and qualification on the psychological work hazards of plant science and science education lecturers was investigated in this study. The study used a quantitative research approach and an ex-post fact research design with a sample of 87 teachers from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The researchers adapted a 28-item questionnaire on work deviant behaviour to collect data for the study. The questionnaire items have internal consistency reliability of 0.76. Mean and analysis of variance were used to analyze the data. The study's findings demonstrated that lecturers' marital status and qualifications had no bearing on their psychological work hazards. This suggests that the marital status and qualification of lecturers are not significant factors in their psychosocial work hazards. As a result, it was recommended that university authorities be equitable in their handling of psychosocial work hazards of lectures, taking into account their marital status and qualification.

Abstract

Career success is an individual's ability to achieve self and work success. There are various instruments to determine individual career success. However, there has not been a career success instrument specifically developed for adolescents. This study aims to develop and validate The Adolescent Career Success Instrument (ACSI) using the Rasch model analysis. Participants in this study consisted of 3 guidance and counseling experts for the constructed test, 4 students for the readability test, and 106 students (33 male students and 73 female students) from high school for the empirical test. ACSI reliability test results show that the item reliability is 0.90 in a good category, while the personal reliability is 0.85 in a good category. Cronbach's alpha value is 0.91 in the very good category. The results of the ACSI analysis using the Rasch model showed that 49 reliable items could be used to measure adolescent career success.

Abstract

Online learning is an alternative during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to empirically verify the impact of the learning system during the COVID-19 pandemic in several countries and Indonesia. The method used in writing this article is using the prism method, which is part of the literature search method from national and international article sources, which is carried out using an indexed search on Google Scholar. The articles reviewed were the latest 49 articles from 2020 to 2022, consisting of 40 national journals and 9 international journals. The results of the study are presented as follows; (1) The search results prove an increase in the number of articles published from 2020-2021; (2) The distribution of articles by type and method of data is presented using more qualitative data; (3) The results showed that the impact of the learning system during the covid-19 pandemic had a major impact on the learning system, namely the positive and negative impacts of online learning carried out by every school facing the covid-19 pandemic. Online learning itself is very influential on learning during the pandemic and is the most widely used. Digital literacy competence is highly demanded in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

One of the efforts taken by the government to help people boost their immunity and prevent transmission is the Covid vaccination program. There are a number of government entities that collaborate with local institutions to distribute vaccines to the general public. Tourism's long-term sustainability is dependent on good health. However, the difficulty is that the community, in general, and tourism actors, in particular, continue to oppose the implementation of this program. There are different causes, and challenges that make some community members reject this initiative. These issues must be addressed, and one way to do so is through health education. This activity was carried out utilizing a mixed method approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The community in Jorong Aie Malanca, Nagari Harau, Payakumbuh is the object of the activity. The implementation of the activities collected demonstrated that the community is enthusiastic about vaccination; although information about the ease and safety of vaccines is still insufficient, this program has been successful in assisting the community in overcoming these issues.

Abstract

Career resilience plays a central role in individual career development and can make individuals find their attitudes, behaviors, and actions that are appropriate to changing situations. The high and low career resilience also affects the individual's career success. Career resilience has been essential to developing since adolescence, but there has been no instrument development to explore adolescent career resilience. This study aims to develop the Adolescent Career Resilience Scale (ACRS) using the Rasch model analysis. The research uses a quantitative approach. Determination of research participants using a convenience sampling method. The participants in this study were 312 students (104 junior high school students, 104 senior high school students, and 104 vocational students in Banten province) involved in the empirical test. ACRS has an item reliability value of 0.97 in the Special category and personal reliability of 0.70 in the good category. Cronbach's Alpha value is 0.78 with a good category. The results of ACRS analysis using the Rasch model produce 31 items that can be used to reveal adolescent career resilience.

Abstract

Cyber aggression has become a very troubling social problem. This phenomenon is an interaction problem between individuals and groups in cyberspace. This study aims to examine the role of perceived threat mediated by prejudice against cyber-aggression by Indonesian youth. The method used in this study is a quantitative survey with structural equation modelling analysis, namely the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The sample in this study used a purposive sampling technique, with 1118 teenagers as respondents from several cities in Indonesia, using techniques of web-based self-report personality scales. The results show that the theoretical model of adolescent cyber-aggression behavior is in accordance with empirical conditions in the field because it meets the goodness of fit model standard, meaning that the perception of threats mediated by prejudice is simultaneously proven to contribute to adolescent cyber-aggression behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the condition of fear of missing out (FoMO), and to investigate differences in FoMO based on gender, employment status, and number of social media accounts. This study uses a quantitative approach to the type of comparative research. Sampling using incidental sampling technique, the sample in this study amounted to 469 respondents (male = 112; female = 357). Data were collected using the FoMO instrument. Data were analyzed using anova with the help of JASP software. The results showed that FoMO conditions were experienced by all respondents, but FoMO in respondents who did not work or students were more worried about not having access to their smart phones. This is of course related to the number of social media accounts and free time (respondents who do not work or students have a lot of free time) to access the internet, because smart phones cannot work optimally when there is no internet access. Another finding is that female students who have two to three social media accounts and even those who have more than three are more dominant in responding to the FoMO instrument compared to male. However, when viewed from the average, men who do not work to experience the highest FoMO condition compared to men who have jobs, even with women who work and those who do not work.
