Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the locus of control, self-esteem and student academic procrastination (2) express the contribution of locus of control and self-esteem to student academic procrastination. This research is conducted by the expost-facto method with questionnaire instrument which has been measured its validity and reliability. The population in this study were BKI FTK IAIN IB Padang students entering 2014, 2013 and 2012 totaling 355 people, the samples used were Stratified Proportional Random Sampling technique so that the sample of 107 students was obtained. Sample amounted to 107 students. The result of the research shows that (1) locus of control is classified moderately, student self-esteem is on average high and student academic procrastination rate is high. (2) there is a significant contribution between locus of control and self-esteem on student academic procrastination jointly equal to 18.8%.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze social support on the wife who studies the master. The approach employed in this study was qualitative phenomenological. Samples in this study as many as two respondents, female students master, career woman, and married. In addition, there were secondary informants that comes from the husband, classmates, and coworkers subject. There are 6 secondary informants this research. Data were collected used interviews and observation. Forms interviews used in this study are free guided interviews and using participant observation. The validity of the data in this study using triangulation of sources and methods. The study found that two subjects in the lead role as a wife, staff, and students were able to run third that role with the help of others. But despite the help of others, this study provides new findings that the success of subjects affected their spiritual support that makes the subject able to survive to make the subject is able to do their job

Abstract

The group guidance service model is one of the solutions done to increase the competence of counselor candidate, as the model will help students to know their self to be better.  This service guidance is done by designing a program, implementing, evaluating, grasping the concept, and doing an assessment. The purpose of this study is to develop group guidance service model which can be accepted by the students to escalate the competence of counselor candidate. Another goal is to know the effectivity of the model in increasing the competence of counselor candidate. The type of this study is research and development by using development strategy model. The development cycles consist of product development, testing the product, revising, retesting, and re-revising until the product is considered proper to be used.  Based on the study result, we can conclude that group guidance service model is acceptable, appropriate to be used, and useful to help in increasing the competence of counselor candidate. It is proven based on the sig value by comparing data of pre-test and post-test. The sig value (0.000) is lower than the standard (0.05). Therefore, there is significant influence between group guidance service model in increasing the competence of counselor candidate.

Abstract

This study aims to increase the enrollment of children of a broken home that life has meaning. Subjects are 100 children in Demak whose families experiencing divorce. Research themes include three things: individual counseling, engineering logotherapy, reception, and a child of a broken home. Data obtained based on interviews, observation, and psychological scale showed that of the 100 children of a broken home has a low acceptance that individual counseling with logotherapy techniques were considered appropriate to increase the enrollment of children of a broken home. Factors - factors that affect the acceptance of a child of a broken home is self-blame, anger and did not have a purpose in life again. In addition the environment is also a significant effect on the enrollment of children of a broken home. Environmental labeling of families experiencing divorce as a family that failed so that children are increasingly stressed with the stamp of the community. Based on the field test results, the level of acceptance of the child of a broken home increases after the individual is given counseling services with logotherapy techniques. Indicated by changes in the level of acceptance of children of a broken home before being given treatment (initial evaluation) and after (final evaluation) of 130 points. The results of effectiveness test statistic t test calculations also showed 0,010 <0.05.It was concluded that counseling individuals with logotherapy effective technique to increase the enrollment of children of a broken home

Abstract

The research aimed to find out the corelation between intelligence and learning motivation in children with special need in inclusion elementary school. The data collecting technique used the learning motivation scale and Slosson Full Range Intelligence Test (S-FRIT). The data were analysed by used product moment correlation technique with SPSS 16. The data analysis result was correlation coefficient was 0.581 with a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.05). It meant there was positive correlation between intelligence and learning motivation. The higher level of intelligence, the learning motivation is also higher; conversely the lower level of intelligence, the learning motivation is also lower. The coefficient determination was 0.337 contributing intelligence to improvement learning motivation was 33.70%. This suggests that 66.30% learning motivation subjects influenced by other factors which not included in this research.

Abstract

Inability to deal with lectures efficiently leads students vulnerable to academic burnout. Burnout contributes to the high dropout rate among students, and this phenomenon has occurred on several universities in Indonesia. To overcome these problems, students should generate the feelings, attitudes and positive attitude towards the academic demands, or known as school engagement. School involvement is a predictor of students’ dropout rate. This study aims to analyze the dropout problem in many private universities in Jakarta by examining the psychological variables: academic burnout and school engagement. 208 students from some private university in Jakarta participated and fulfilled two questionnaires: academic burnout and school engagement that has been modified to suit the college setting. Correlation of the variables showed r= - 0.399 (p = 0.000). This means that school engagement plays a role in reducing academic burnout among students. These findings contribute a reference for academic counseling to support the decreasing of students’ dropout rate.

Abstract

This study investigated the validation of the psychological resilience scale adaptation from youth development module (RYDM) for secondary school. The psychological RYDM is measured by six factors psychological assets was strongly associated with students academic success. A sample of study is 158 seventh grade students from five secondary schools in Singaraja, Bali Province (75 or 47.4% male and 83 or 52.6%  female, with age range 12-13 years). The constructs validation was conduct by exploratory factor analysis (EFA) method, with SPSS 22.0. Five iterations of the EFA reducing 18 original items to 14 items and 6 original factors to 5 factors. Five factors and 14 items produced are consistent with the conceptual basis used in the original RYDM. The stability of new five factors is formed by a split sample analysis method showed the all of the items of factors identified in the earlier testing stable adequacy of forming a common factor in this analysis in the first and second iteration. The results of analysis the item-total correlation on 14 item (n = 158) showed Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.777. Implications the study for guidance and counseling practice in schools is discussed.

Abstract

This study is purposed for guiding students to use their smartphone appropriately and opportunely through School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPB). Location of this research was at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta which used Classroom Action Research and Spiral Self-Reflective as its design. The research process was undertaken within 2 cycles where each cycle consists of the planning phase, action phase, and reflection phase. Group counseling and individual counseling were applied as the form of SWPB in which students who received these services were selected purposively. All data collected through observation, questionnaire, and interview. Respondents participated cooperatively during counseling service sessions; as a result, they can manage their selves to not use smartphone unless it is necessary for learning resource and assignment in the classroom.

Abstract

This research uses qualitative method approach. The data is taken through semi structured interviews so that the researcher can get the deepest information from the subject but still use interview and observation guidance. Aims to determine the perspectives between ethnic groups by looking at how the interactions or relationships that occur in everyday activities, the management of conflicts, what activities are usually done together, and the attachment that exists between various ethnic groups in Kelurahan Pengasinan Kota Bekasi to meet Practical needs. The theory used is the group definition theory of Joseph S. Roucek, Major Polak, and Wila Huky, inter-group relations of Kinloch and Stanley Liberson, social interaction theory of Soekanto, Sunarto-majority minority relations theory, Budiman, Suparlan and Edward M Bruner, and the inter-ethnic perspective theory of Setiaman. Social relations itself has a sense of relationship in which there are interactions that occur in society in order to prevent the emergence of conflict. Based on the results of research and discussion that has been done, it can be concluded that, good interaction among ethnic groups is the key in maintaining relationships among ethnic groups. This will affect the survival, social behavior, and perspectives that arise and develop among others.

Abstract

A Child who has trouble with his peer group founded in any school, it’s starting from elementary school until senior high school.  But, mostly the problem with peer group more complicated happen in senior high school.  For example, in BOPKRI 2 Yogyakarta Senior High School, the author found that many students whom also being a bullying victim, they could not accept her condition.  They have to obey the rule in their peer group even though they did not like it.  So in other words, these students have the low self-acceptance.   In this study, an author will use cognitive behavior therapy to increase student’s self-acceptance.  This study also aims to obtain some empirical data about how effective cognitive behavior therapy towards self-acceptance on the student in BOPKRI 2 Yogyakarta Senior High School. This study used Quasi Experiment method with One Group Pretest – Posttest Design.  The subject of this study is two student who also is a bullying victim in BOPKRI 2 Yogyakarta Senior High School.  The result of this study showed that after an intervention, the level of student’s self-acceptance was increased from low to medium, with the average changes in 35,1%, based on the result it can be concluded that cognitive behavior therapy was effective to increase the student’s self-acceptance in BOPKRI 2 Yogyakarta.
