Abstract

Background: Hypertension is linearly associated with cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality. Therefore, hypertension must be prevented and treated, and controlled adequately. Early treatment of hypertension is crucial because it can prevent complications in several organs such as the heart, kidneys, and brain. The treatment of hypertension has shifted from pharmacology to non-pharmacology because of the side effects it causes. One of the non-pharmacological management for hypertensive patients is slow deep breathing exercises. The mechanism of slow deep breathing relaxation (slow deep breathing) in the respiratory system is in the form of a state of inspiration and exhalation with a frequency of breaths of 6-10 times per minute, resulting in an increase in a cardiopulmonary stretch. Objective: To determine the effect of relaxation therapy: slow deep breathing on lowering blood pressure in patients with grade 1 hypertension.Method: Pre-experimental Design One Group Pre-Post Test Design. Results: Before being given slow deep breathing relaxation therapy, patients with grade 1 hypertension had an average (mean) systolic and diastolic blood pressure of 152.16 and 93.68 mmHg. After being given slow deep breathing relaxation therapy, patients with grade 1 hypertension have an average (mean) systolic and diastolic blood pressure of 140.42 and 92.74 mmHg.Conclusion: There is a significant effect between Relaxation Therapy: Slow Deep Breathing on Decreasing Blood Pressure in Level 1 Hypertension Patients.

Abstract

Background: The number block is a media that Montessori created in 1909. This block media is made of a wooden square and consists of 10 blocks with red and blue colors. Each red and blue segment represents the sum of 1 block. According to Fridani in Kompas Daily (2010), the block game itself has several advantages, including that children can recognize mathematical concepts because by playing blocks, children get to know more concepts - less, the same and not the same, the concepts of numbers and numbers and science. Such as calculating, classification, gravity, and stabilization. Objective: To determine the effect of number blocks on increasing numeracy skills in mentally disabled childrenMethod: The research design was a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test - a post-test design approachResults: Before being given the intervention to play numeric blocks, most of the ten respondents (59%) had the level of numeracy (analyzing number symbols, addition, and subtraction) in children with mental retardation, which was in the low category. Mental is in the good category for eight respondents (47%), and five respondents (29%) are included in the good category. Conclusion: There is an effect of numeracy skills on children with mental retardation before and after the intervention to play number blocks.

Abstract

Background: Malaria is a disease caused by Plasmodium parasite infection wwhich is transmitted through bite of an Anopheles mosquito. Efforts to control malaria can be carried out in various ways, starting from treatment, prevention, to breaking the transmission chain through vectors, both mosquitoes and larvae. Mindi tree contains Azadiractin compounds which are larvicides. Study aims to determine effect of mindi leaf powder (Melia azedarach L) on mortality of Anopheles aconitus instar III larvae. Methods: A true experimental study with a post test only control group design, the object of research was Anopheles aconitus Instar III larvae. The research was conducted at Laboratory of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung, Semarang. 20 larvae / 100 ml were used. Air temperature and water pH were controlled during observation. Assessment by counting number of mortality larvae and the number of live larvae from each treatment was compared to the control. The data obtained were analyzed by the Kruskal-Wallis statistical test. The LD50 and LD90 were analyzed using Probit analysis. Results: The dose of 0.2 g/100 ml was the minimum dose that killed 100% of larvae of Anopheles aconitus (p = 0.01). In the probit test, LD50 was 0.01 g/100 ml of aquades, while LD90 was 0.06 gram/ 100 ml of aquades. Conclusion: Dose can served as larvicidal (LD90 )was 0.06 g/100 ml of aquades., while LD50 was 0.01 g/100 ml of aquades.

Abstract

Background: Obesity can affect severity of knee osteoarthritis sufferers. Several studies have examined relationship between obesity and osteoarthritis, but no one has examined the different types of obesity on osteoarthritis, therefore, researchers wanted to know differences of central and peripheral obesity on severity osteoarthritis. Methods: A retrospective studi, with cross-sectional, simple random sampling method, conducted between 1 August 2014 and 30 September 2014 in Semarang City. Samples people > 50 years old. Data were analyzed by rank Spearman and Anova correlation. Results: In this study, 45.7% (n = 32) reported severe osteoarthritis. The results of the statistical test obtained p1 = 0,000 (reject Ho). The correlation coefficient (r) is 0.857 (strong), and the linear pattern is positive. The coefficient of determination (r2) is obtained (0.857) 2 = 0.73 = 73%. And 37.1% (N = 26) reported being obese. p2 = 0.043 (reject Ho). The mean deviation (MD) was 0.048 (not significant) between central obesity and peripheral obesity. Conclusion: Obesity affects severity of knee osteoarthritis. The greater body mass index, greater severity of knee osteoarthritis. 73% of severity of knee osteoarthritis is influenced by obesity, but there is no significant effect between central and peripheral obesity on the occurrence of knee osteoarthritis.

Abstract

Background: Modification of food presentation is one way to attract toddlers to increase their appetite with attractive colors or cute shapes to increase the child's appetite. Modification of food presentation can also affect appetite changes in children under five, so it takes a unique and exciting food creation that can be an attraction/pleasure for children under five to increase appetite. Children's stability under five depends a lot on their parents or caregivers because the parents must be the main scourge / main factor in increasing the child's appetite. So, it can be said that the development of children under five is very dependent on how their parents manage their child's food—providing a variety of foods, especially vegetables, which children usually do not like so that they become liked by them. There are many things or ways to attract toddlers to like vegetables, namely by adding side dishes that have been mixed with vegetables and rice that can be cooked and mixed with coloring from the vegetables themselves. Objective: To explore the relationship between food presentation modification and appetite changes for children under five at Puskesmas Mojo Surabaya.Method: Analytical Cross-Sectional Observational Research DesignResult: Most of the modification of food presentation for children under five at Puskesmas Mojo Surabaya received it well. Changes in appetite for children under five at Puskesmas Mojo Surabaya are mostly changes in appetite. Conclusion: There is a relationship between modification of food presentation and appetite changes for children under five at Puskesmas Mojo Surabaya.
