Abstract

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) are all health behaviors that are carried out with awareness so that family or family members can help themselves in the health sector and play an active role in health activities in the community. This community service program is motivated by limited access to information, transportation and health in rural areas of Kampung Pemekaran Mister Ngiosi Manokwari causing a lack of understanding and application of a clean and healthy lifestyle by children, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. To overcome this gap, it is necessary to disseminate information about clean and healthy living behavior in children. Activities on PHBS are using interactive learning in the form of lectures and giving some questions related to the PHBS and reward, demonstration related to preventing the transmission of Covid-19. The results of the activity showed that about 80% of the children could carry out 11 steps of hand washing activity well. In terms of healthy food, 100% of the children finished the given food.

Abstract

Malaria is a disease caused by parasitic infection, named Protozoa from the genus Plasmodium which is transmitted to humans by the bite of Anopheles mosquito. Manokwari Regency, which is located in West Papua Province, is a high malaria endemic area with Annual Parasite Incidence (API) 22.88 in 2018, this numbers is included in the High Case Incidence (HCI)> 5 category. The aim of this study is to analyze malaria cases in patients who treated at Sanggeng Public Health Center from November to December 2019 based on; the number of cases, patient characteristics (age group and gender) and type of Plasmodium. This research method is descriptive with a laboratory approach, namely microscopic examination of thin and thick blood preparations using a microscope. The results of the study of 730 patients, there were 35 malaria positive blood supplies. The highest prevalence of people with malaria were aged ≥ 15 years (51.42%). Most of the patients with malaria based on gender were women (51.43%) and the types of plasmodium found were Plasmodium falciparum (20%) and Plasmodium vivax (80%). Abstract

The cuscus study for approximately 15 years showed that there are morphological and morphometric differences among the same species. Cuscus is a nocturnal animal that very dependent on natural forests, which in fact is beginning to decrease. Environmental and food changes are the cause of changes in the blood profile. Therefore, this research needs to be done with the aim of obtaining blood profiles, preparing blood smear from each type of cuscus from the lowlands and islands in Papua. The results of this study describe blood profiles of three species of cuscus found Spilocuscus maculatus, Spilocuscus papuensis and Phalanger orientalis. Types of Leukocytes found consisting of Basophils, Eosinophils, stem Neutrophils, segment Neutrophils, Lymphocytes and Monocytes in S. maculatus; Basophils, Eosinophils, stem Neutrophils, segment Neutrophil, Lymphocytes in S. papuensis; and Basophils, Eosinophils, segment Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes on P. orientalis. The largest number of leukocytes is S. maculatus ♂ adult (12,20x103 / mm3). The highest amount of Eristrosit is P. orientalis ♂ adult (10.780.000 / mm3). The highest hemoglobin belongs to S. maculatus ♂ adult is 14.8 mg / dL, and the highest percentage of hematocrit is also S. maculatus ♂ adults (44%). The three species of cuscus have different numbers of leukocytes, erythrocytes, haemoglobin and hematocrit.

Abstract

Human has a preference to use their hands for various manual activities. Left-handed preference is people who tend to use their left hand to perform various manual activities, while right-handed people tend to use right-handed. Any researches show that the left-handed preference for more creativity was influenced by the dominant use of the right brain and bigger corpus callosum. The research aims to determine the percentage of left-handed preference and their creativity in Universitas Papua, Manokwari Papua Barat. The method used in this research is the descriptive method. Data collection used a questionnaire to evaluate individual hand preference using Handedness Questionnaire and to determine individual creativity using Adjective Check List. The percentage of left-handed people in UNIPA were 9.3% or lower than right-handed and higher than ambidextrous. Our study supports the statement about selection in handedness in the traditional society which showed a higher percentage of left-hander as advantages related to using hand intensively.  The percentage of left-handed males and females was almost equal and strongly left-handed was higher in females. The percentage of creative people was higher in left-handed, especially in males

Abstract

Majority of patients comes to the community health centers in Manokwari areas is related to malaria diseases, and small number of patients are for diabete melitus diaseses. The patients of diabetes meliatus coming to these community center are not in prediabetic conditions. This means that they are recommended to look better or advanced treatment in hospital. This conditions are due to community lack of knowledge of malaria and diabetes mellitus (DM). To eliminate these condition, community education is important to be conducted, using different approached such as comunity service. The main targets of this research project are the community living at the rural (sub urban) and town areas. Interviews, biomedical measurement parameter, community approaches, and cutting malaria mosquito living cycle, were used to collect data and information. The results indicate that numbers of family member diagnosed with DM and Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) at Town are higher than those at Rural. The respondents diagnosed DM are mostly women, either as house wife or no regular work. Interestingly, no men were reported for DM. Respondents of DM and IGT from Town were mostly at age of 45 – 54 years old, while at Rural were younger, from 15-24 years old. Malaria were found higher prevalence at the sub urban areas, and mostly suffering from Plamodium falcifarum (tropica malaria). After being community approaches, planting anti-malaria herbs, the prevelance of DM and malaria were decreasing because the community awareness of preventing malaria and DM.
